Good Morning! The flowers all planted all over the yard! I have some out front, and to the side and also way in back behind the pool area. I really need to find out how to bring some of the ones from out behind the pool to up where I can enjoy them more. Like I said, I've never had flowers so I have a lot to learn!

I have a weird story to share.

Last night, I watched one of my recent rentals from Netflix – Huff. It was a Showtime series around 2004 with Blythe Danner starring as the mother of the main character.

This morning, I stopped by my DD’s B&B. I had the DVD with me as I thought my DD & SIL would enjoy it. Guess who was sitting in the Dining Room having breakfast – Blythe Danner!

She was on her way to a school reunion in a nearby town and was staying at my DD’s B&B. She autographed the DVD sleeve for me.

BTW – if you don’t know Blythe Danner, she is Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother and the mother-in-law of Chris Martin (Coldplay). Blythe (we’re now on a first-name basis) was also in Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers.

PS - I blushed when I met her - just a little starstruck!

Hello.............I'm pooped, we just finished our 2nd day of rummage sale at my brothers. I ate, ate and ate some more, all kinds of junk. It was raining all day yesterday and only 50 degrees. Today no rain but cold and windy, like in the 40's. I had long underwear on, a turtle neck, a wool sweater, a lined winter coat and my winter leather coat on top of that. I was still cold! But I made close to $1,000 bucks, no kidding! That kind of makes up for the icky weather.
DD is taking us to a fancy supper club for lunch tomorrow and want to wish everyone a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !

Lynn, how FUN! Too bad you have to return that signed sleeve to Netflix! Or did you get around that somehow? I've always liked her; she seems like such a gracious and lovely person!

Bobbi, good job on the rummage sale! That almost makes freezing near-to-death okay! I watched the line of storms move toward Missouri and east... You've all certainly had a winter!

Everyone, have a lovely, lovely day... hope all your DD, DS, DH, DIL, MIL, SIL, and etc. treat you very well!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Getting ready to work in the garden--the weeds are calling me. Really I couldn't think of a better way to spend MD except maybe actually being with my kids.

Lynn: That is really a strange coincidence. I have seen very few celebrities in my lifetime. I once saw Andy Kaufmann (Taxi, Saturday Night Live) waiting for a bus in a Carson City Casino. He used to frequent the cat houses here. Since I thought he was insane I stayed clear of him.

And I used to be a big fan of Steve Young (quarterback for the SF 49'rs). I saw him with his oldest son (very young then) and I was going to stalk him for an autograph, but who wants to be stalked at Disneyland? So I used all my self-control to turn around and walk away.

Have a good day everyone!

Doris

Happy Mother's Day to one and all. I'm now officially the "Nanny" for DGS. Ha, ha. That's what we call grandmothers her anyhow so I'm the "nanny" whichever way you look at it. I drove the 4 hour drive here today. Started just before lunch and hit fog and rain about half way here. The fog was bad at times but the heavy rain was worse. Fortunately, I only got about half an hour of really bad rain. I'm settled in for the week and then I'll be home for the weekend.

Gayle, I'm going to be here for 15 months but I'll be home on weekends, school holidays and university breaks. DS is a teacher so I'll get his long weekends as well as DIL's breaks, etc.

Lynn, I looked up Blythe Danner so I'd be sure who she was. WOW, what a strange coincidence to just bump into her, especially in your own daughters B&B.

Bobbi, your entrepreneurial skills always amaze me. What are you going to do with all that cash? I don't suppose I'd be able to scrape together enough valuable stuff to make $100.

Karen, I'm pure jealous of that lovely swimming pool. It'll be the end of June before it's warm enough to swim outside here. I'll have to have a splash in the tub and think warm thoughts.

Doris, I usually spend MD in the yard. It seems to have become a tradition for me. Of course, this year I was travelling instead of digging around in the garden.

Donna and Rosey, hope you both had a great day, as well.

DGS, is tucked into bed and the grown-ups are getting things ready for tomorrow. DIL, is correcting piano students' theory homework and getting ready for her first day of uni tomorrow. DS, is paying for the tuition and I'm just surfing the web and 3FC. It's nice not getting ready for work. My wicked DIL just brought out a bag of chips and plopped them opened before me as I type. I have succumbed....

Catch you all tomorrow.

Curb Overeating with This Mealtime Trick

To avoid eating too much -- and earning a bigger pants size -- try this mealtime trick: Spend at least 30 minutes enjoying your food.
Research shows that scarfing down food as if every meal were your last actually reduces levels of key appetite-controlling hormones -- the ones that normally keep you feeling full and satisfied and tell you when to put down that fork.
Slower = Slimmer
In the study, lucky volunteers were served about 2 1/2 scoops of ice cream -- twice. On one day, they wolfed down the treat in 5 minutes flat. Then, on another day, they lingered over the bowl for a full half hour. Blood tests showed that slow eating increased levels of two appetite-lowering chemicals (peptide YY and glucagon-like peptide-1) by 25 to 30 percent. And these satisfaction hormones stayed high for the next 2 1/2 hours. (Build a high-satisfaction weight loss plan with this customizable RealAge diet.)

Satisfaction Secrets
"I'm full" hormones are released by special cells in your gastrointestinal tract. Eating stimulates them, but scientists aren't yet sure why a leisurely meal boosts output and a quick meal stunts it. And you shouldn't wait for the answer. Start harnessing your satisfaction levels now with a lazy, leisurely approach to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here are a few more tips on eating less but feeling more satisfied:Are you really hungry, or just thirsty? Learn how thirst can mimic food cravings!

Greetings!
It's good to be back in my daily rut, our clothes need washing but 1" of rain is predicted so I'll do some baking instead. I opened a can of Almond paste for some Kolacky cookies I made for the rummage sale and still have 1/2 can left. Anybody use this and have a recipe to get rid of it?
Isabella...I went back and looked at all your posts to see what I missed, you're seriously going to be the official 'nanny' for 15 months? EGAD, that's going to take up sooooooooo much of your personal time! Aren't you going to miss your walking time? I paid my dues babysitting my grandkids to help out our daughter when she couldn't afford to pay a setter and was happy to do it but I did it in my home. Wow, I'm impressed with your dedication.
Hi Rosey...how'd the food menu go over the week-end? Did you get spoiled?
Doris...I worked in a restaurant when I was in my teens and waited on the Everly Brothers and his band once, they were so polite. I also had a limo pull up in front of the supper club and the chauffeur got out, looked around the restaurant and went back out to get his rider, it was Greta Garbou, no kidding! She really acted the diva too, kept her sun glasses on the whole time and her chauffeur ordered for her.
Lynn...who? I don't have a clue who Blythe Danner is. But then we don't buy or rent movies. We get a coupon for a free movie every once in awhile from our dish but never use it.
Jess...how was your Mom's day, did you get spoiled too! I'm wondering who ate what, I'm back to watching what I'm eating again after the last 3 days of 'anything goes'.
Hi Karen, Glynne, Freda, anyone I missed.
Zoe......hope your vacation is sunny!
You all have a great day...
