Need advice for my mother

My mom is 50+ and is trying to start an exercise program to lose weight. She wants to do it at home on her own time (dvd's or the such) because she cannot afford a gym membership. I have encouraged her to use some of my aerobic dvd's (denise austin) and she said they are too much for someone starting out overweight and older. She has no access to the internet so I thought I would post here to see what others are doing.

Do you have any advice for someone who is 200+ lbs that is starting out and older? She is convinced that my dvd's are for 20 something's that are already in shape. :?:

I would recommend Richard Simmons's SILVER FOXES video/dvd. Be sure to get the first one, not the one labeled "II" which doesn't have Richard Simmons. I think both are on the DVD. It's for seniors but would be easier for someone overweight to begin with.

Also, Amazon has these exercise recommendations for seniors:

Even though your mom probably isn't a "senior," these would be easy for her to get started.

Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansome is one that I've seen recommended a lot on 3FC also, but I've never tried it.

I like WATP (Walk Away the Pounds) by Leslie Sansone. She has lots of levels, and they are fun and encouraging. Several of her classmates are older folk.
