Hey folks, remember that 3FC will be offline starting around noon. New server!
Where is meowee these days? Haven't seen her in a long time! CD, oh yeah, Trekkies like your DH should definitely get there! While it's on the big screen! We need Star Trek smilies, don't you think? Well, live long and prosper! Jay |
Jay - Trekkie smilies are a great idea! I had to hunt one down
http://images.zaazu.com/img/spock-sp...0554-large.gif Hope everyone is having a good day! Busy here - another meeting tonight. Dinner is going to have to be something quick on the grill. But, I did get in some yoga and shape boxing after work :D |
CD, I love it!!!!!
Looks like you and I are talking to ourselves in here... I'm hoping we'll get lucky and have a thunderstorm today. That's the usual summer pattern. Are you still freezing up there, CD? I remember snow in June in the mountains of Utah, but golly, that was the mountains! I watched the Biggest Loser finale. Generally I don't like that show--I think they do dangerous things, and all the emphasis is on exercise--but I wanted to see who won. I'm glad it was the oldest woman! And I'm glad that the oldest man won the at-home contest. Hello to everyone who's reading and not posting! Jay |
Indeed, it is kinda lonely here. You may be right about this thread having run its course. Of course I LOVE talking with you ;)
Still cold, we did get rain today. We needed it so that was good. Couldn't scoot, though. I don't watch BL either, but I did watch the last 10 minutes since so many MI folk were involved this year. I was also happy to see older folk winning :) I am currently attending a pre-retirement webinar. Trying to educate myself regarding all my options as the next several years unfold. I am really noticing a difference in my upper body since starting boxing. I am liking the results! For any lurkers - c'mon and post! |
Hi everyone. Not lurking. Have been so busy this week with stuff. Been trying to get time at work to post.
Unfortunately have not made it to the gym once this week and do not like that. Have had something I had to do every day this week. I have next week off though and it will be a week at the gym. My food has been pretty good. Been to a stress management course and a course on food and mood. Some interesting things. Got some good ideas on managing stress and that should help with the food. I watched BL as well. Now I enjoy it. Certainly a lot of exercise. What I get out of it is how honest some of the contestants are about their journey. Definitely a good inspiration from the older winners. Hey Jay you sound like you are doing all the right things there. Myself I never eat at the movies. Stopped years ago. Well if I eat popcorn I would have to have a drink and then I would have to pee.... so just enjoy the show. I am not a trekkie. Have never watched even one of them. Laurie I do not know where you find the hours in the day. You sure are a busy woman. Great to hear how exercise is such a priority for you. I am getting there. I am liking the gym but this week too many meetings got in the way. Linda must still be away lending support to family. Great weather there Jay. Too hot for me. We have rain. No freeze but it sure is wet. I went to my friends for Mothers day. She has 4 daughters and they all made dinner for everyone. It was fun. Myself I was home till 330pm but no phone call, no card. Yikes where did I go wrong!! :( Such is life. Food could have been better but was not a disaster. So was happy with that. It was nice to be out with people that like me. Hope you are all having a good week. Don't close the thread I would certainly miss it. Take care everyone......Jude :) |
Hey Jude! Nice to see you. I hope you get that gym time in next week! :cb:
We finally had some rain last night, and are getting more today. I'm glad it's finally started, and I hope it becomes more regular. We're still burnin' up down here. OK, the truth is that I've been slacking off in the past few weeks. I always try to accentuate the positive, but I need to 'fess up. I've put on a few pounds instead of dropping a few. So, you all are going to be my witnesses: Tomorrow is the beginning of a new weight loss phase for me. My plan runs from May 15 to Aug. 15. There's a weight goal there, but I'm not going to worry about that number. I am going to focus on how many days I can keep my average calories on target, however. And of course, I have exercise in there as well. Yeah, I'll let this thread stay open for awhile... Jay |
Jude - good to hear from you girl! As far as fitting in exercise, some days I just have to sneak it in there. A HUGE piece for me is having multiple things that I can do at home that are time-bound. I have several of the 10 Minute Solutions DVDs. I can CERTAINLY find 10 minutes somewhere in my day to sneak in something. On those days when I know I'm not going to even make it home before 9 p.m., I try to work in little things throughout the day - a 10 minute walk around the building, park 4 blocks away and walk the rest of the way to work, etc.
While my plan is not scientific, and serious exercise buffs would just shake their head at me - hey, I'm a 50+ chickie, and SOMETHING is better than NOTHING. I always look at it as "any exercise is a good". Jay - we are here for you! I know you will make your goal - once you set your mind to something, not much seems to get in your way. Let is know if we can help  An OK day here - a little slower paced today. We met with a vendor for lunch at my favorite restaurant. I ordered my favorite dish and brought half back for tomorrow's lunch. :D  We had wind gusts that were really intense today - I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep my scooter upright. There are some disadvantages to losing all this weight ;) Yoga for me today. My allergies are really bothering me, so I'm opting for a flexibility routine that doesn't make breathing any more difficult ;) Hope you all have a fun Friday planned! Laurie :scooter: |
Good evening to you all. I am here at work. :?: Someone just walked by with yet another box of donuts. Just said no thanks and kept on walking to get my water. I am finding the more I say no the less the cravings are. Not a lot but better than before. I just have to believe what people keep telling me. :D
Still no exercise today but the food has been good. :carrot::carrot: I am down a couple of pounds but the trick is to keep it there and to keep going down. I have this 6 pounds that I seem to run up and down. So now I am at the bottom of it. I would like my goal to be out of the 230's by the end of the month. That would be great. No reason if I stay on track. DD might come for a visit next weekend. Hmmm might not help the staying on track. I have set some boundaries so she might skip it. Who knows. But I do plan to get in a good week of exercise and healthy eating. My goal for this week coming is to eat OP but mainly to eat on time. I have a tough time with weekends not eating till noon and then by 4pm I am starving. So where did lunch go and what time would supper be. So this week I am going to pay attention. It is easier at work so will see how the week goes. Good luck with your goal Jay you will do it. Just follow what you did last time. Isn't it a shame that weight would not just go down and stay down. Laurie I did not know there was such a thing as a 10 minute dvd workout. I have a tredmill in my garage and I have often thought just do 15 mins on that. Well in winter it is too cold out there. It is just about warm enough to start that. So will maybe add 15 mins of time even if it is just on the weekend. Not sure I want to be doing the tredmill at 10pm when I get home. But who knows what the summer might bring. One thing I do know is that success breeds success. I am just trying to get a little success working. Glad you are all here. Hope the others drop in to say hi. Talk to you all tomorrow........Jude |
Hey Jude!
Quote:
I think everyone who has managed to become obese has to face the fact that the way they "normally" have been eating in the past is never going to work for weight maintenance. In a way, I wish that I had been oversnacking on really good foods instead of just having too many nuts and chocolate chips. OH WELL! Today is my new start. I know I can count on you for support. Jay |
Hi all, hope you are having an OP day!
Jude, the videos I use are part of a series (10 Minute Solution). If you Google it, you will find them. There are oodles of them - pilates, dance, weights, yoga, balance ball, etc. I have 7 in the series. There are 5 - 10 minute workouts on each DVD. Usually divided by: upper body, lower body, core, total body & flexibility. Jay, your honesty is so refreshing. I roll my eyes at the numerous threads that bemoan a gain because the poster went on a 3 day binge. If I overdo any food, it is nuts. For probably 20 years, I didn't eat nuts or nut butter because they were "bad", "high-fat" foods. Lot of good that did me  I added healthy fats to my diet when I started this journey. I think all of those years of NOT having them, has me sometimes wanting them more than is prudent. I've found that I still have to weigh/measure them, otherwise :yikes: A really quiet day here today. I came home from work yesterday with a nasty sore throat. I assumed that it was allergy related (not unusual this time of year after a hard rain). But, the accompanying 100+ temperature is NOT allergy related. Thus, I'm having a very quiet day on my couch with my PDA, computer, audio books, and my pillow. I think my schedule has caught up with me. :( Thankfully, the several items that had deadlines at work, were all completed by yesterday afternoon. I think I knew I was getting sick, because I stayed late to submit everything, instead of waiting until today. On a happier note, I ordered new shades for the living room and they came today. They are lovely. One downside of having a projector instead of a TV, is that you need a darkened room to get a good crisp image. My light filtering pleated shades just aren't enough to do the job. Maybe my scores on the Wii will improve  Then again, probably not  Have a great weekend all! Laurie :scooter: |
FYI - a prayer request for Meowee (Linda) was just posted on another thread. She has pneumonia and is not responding to medication.
|
Hi everyone? Friday at last. I have the next week off. woo hoo!:hat:
On Sunday am going out to the lake to join some friends that are camping. They are doing dinner and I just have to come. Like that idea. It will be fun and it is supposed to be a nice day. Will take a change of clothes just in case. They have a boat so we might be out in that. Not really a boat person myself. But it will be a nice day out. :beach: Laurie those videos sound interesting. I will have to look them up. I could really use some core strenght stuff. Well I could use anything for that matter.:carrot: All the best to you Jay on getting those couple of pounds off. I have often wondered how hard it would be to work at home. Mind you this office is no picnic with the never ending sugar treats. I am looking forward to getting to the gym next week again. Maybe move the scale a bit. I have another of my Food and Mood classes. Not sure I mentioned that. It is interesting. :D So sometimes I get side tracked when I am off work. So if you don't hear from me don't close the thread Jay!! Cheers to everyone..and have a good weekend.........Jude :bike: |
G'morning all! Happy Saturday!
Jude - sounds like you have a fun Sunday planned! Enjoy! Take a snack with you just in case dinner doesn't fit your plan ;) I'm feeling a bit better today - but still running a 100+ temp. :( I think "feed a cold, starve a fever" is where my body is at right now - I'm below my low bumper weight - so, Jay - feel free to send a couple of those lbs up here to MI. It is a rainy, cold day here in northern MI. Kinda depressing. But, we need the rain, so I won't complain. I do have quite a few things planned for tomorrow, so I'm just gonna lay low and hope this fever breaks today. On a happier not, the memorial weeping crabapple tree we planted last year in honor of FIL is just starting to blossom. It is absolutely breathtaking! :D |
Hey!
Jude, I bet we won't be seeing too much of you during your week off, but I hope you'll give us a few reports! I would love to go out on a boat... My family did a lot of boating and fishing when I was growing up. They were some of the best times. CD, I'd be happy to send a couple of pounds up your way... gosh, to have such a problem... But I do hope that with a fever and all, you'll please take it easy! No use waiting until it gets worse. I sure hope that meowee gets better soon. CD, have any pix of that tree? It sounds lovely! I would like a nice flowering tree... but not one that then makes fruit. Of course, that's sort of impossible, now that I think of it. Duh. Jude, working at home has advantages in that no one walks into my office with a tray of goodies. So no temptation there. Also, I have all my standby foods readily available, and not many business lunches to contend with. And no office parties! The downside is that if I get going on the wrong snack, there's not much to stop me (except my partner... but her main concern is that if it's something she likes, it gets replaced). Working at home also has the downside of isolation. I'm not an extravert anyway, but it would still be nice to have some co-workers to talk with now and then. I miss that part of having a work group. Interactions take place via email, mostly, and occasional phone. Jude, you did talk about the Food and Mood classes. Tell us more about what you're learning. Today and tomorrow I have no work. I am finally caught up. :faint: So, of course I'm finding all sorts of little tasks. What's that? Go somewhere and have fun? Hmmm... See ya! Jay |
Yes Jay - go somewhere - have FUN! Those tasks will be there when you get back. You talked about some short trips this year - and - if not this weekend, then why not spend some time planning them. I will post some pictures of the tree when it goes into full bloom (just starting now).
I'm doing a bit better this afternoon, my temp is slowly starting to drop, and I'm getting a few things done around the house (dusting, laundry, paying bills, etc.). My appetite is returning as well and I'm hoping to get some cooking for the coming week done later tonight. The upside to spending so much time with my computer is that we have thoroughly researched our trip for next weekend. We know what plays we want to see, where we want to eat, even what bus to take to get to the zoo :D Laurie |
Hey! I guess it's you and me for awhile, Laurie.
Anyone else who'd like to join in, please do! Well, I didn't go out and "have fun" so much yesterday--but I did get some tasks taken care of, and that makes me happy! :cb: Laurie, I hope you continue to get better... and don't use all your energy on household stuff like I do! I think you and I both have just a leetle tendency to overwork... Today I have some more cleaning to do... HAHAHA!!! But most of it is decluttering, and I know you approve of that, CD. I didn't eat enough yesterday, and I was feeling just gaunt with hunger by the evening as well as having no energy. I checked, and I had set my target too low. I keep forgetting I am now a fit person, not a sedentary one! :cheer2: Adjustments have been made now... Catch you later, Jay |
Jay - do tweak that calorie cap for the day. It is constant trial and error. I never liked "The Daily Plate" or my "Calorie King" software because they added back in my exercise calories.
That being said, I do like the WW approach of "flex". Too often in the past I obeyed my charts and graphs instead of listening to my body. I calorie cycle just naturally. I eat within a calorie range each day. I do have to put a weekly total limit in place, just to keep me from eating at the upper end of the range continually  It was a lot easier to just plan for X number of calories each day, and plan out what I would eat EXACTLY. And a lot of maintainers still do exactly that. But I think it is healthier in the long run - for me anyway - to work on eating like a thin person - to listen to my body more. I'm a work in progress - that's for sure  I'm doing better today - still stuffy and sneezing, and I made it through being liturgist at church without any embarrassing incidents :D It just feels like full blown allergies right now. Nothing that sugar-free cough drops and some Early Grey tea can't sooth. I am going to let the Roomba do its thing today and do a bit of cooking for the week (which with all my gadgets isn't a big deal ) and call it good. If it warms up (below freezing again last night) I hope to sit out in the garden and enjoy my tea. I'm off to reacquaint myself with a couple Shakespeare plays, in prep for next weekend. I wish you a fun and BALANCED Sunday! |
CD, I use FitDay. Is that what you have been using? I seem to remember that. Anyway, FitDay has an option to add in exercise calories, and I did that for awhile, but these days I find that if I just choose the correct activity level for my metabolism, I don't have to track exercise. In fact, I'd rather not because the calories estimated to have been burned can be so inaccurate.
Yeah, it's really good to listen to one's body! And not to one's mouth! I definitely like the idea of eating like a thin person--and that approach worked for me during the first, oh, year and a half of my maintenance! I was still tracking much of that time, but not all the time. But things went the wrong way last October, and I've been struggling since, back and forth. Now it's time to go back to losing. A Roomba! How do you like that? Our house isn't large enough that it would make sense to have one of those. It's certainly warm enough here, but rainy. We're going to have rain the next three days, which is a good thing! I'm off to step class now. Can't let rain get in the way, or I wouldn't make it to the gym. I hope you're feeling better! Hi to all our readers! Jay |
Jay - I have the PC version of Fitday and used it for most of my journey. I switched to the PDA version of Calorie King just because it was easier to track. I did turn it off in Fitday as well. No option to do so in the other products.
DH and I were discussing moving at some point in the future. Downsizing to a house that is easier to maintain, etc. For now, the Roomba earns its keep - particularly since it likes to clean the pet hair from under things - the kind of cleaning that I really don't like to do. I'm off to take a nap - not much sleep last night. I hope this thing runs its course soon, I'm a crabby, crabby soul today! Later, gators! Laurie :scooter: |
The weather is glorious here! I took a picture of the memorial tree (for FIL) that we planted last spring.

CD, that is a beautiful tree! I'd like to have one in my front yard here! But they might not like the climate. Perhaps a flowering dogwood...
Today was a strange day that has left me disgruntled. I agreed to help my friend go computer shopping over in Tampa, at the closest Apple store. The appointment was for 11, so we left around 10:15. Naturally we have a blustery, rainy day today. Well, to make a long story short, it took all day. We didn't get home until 5. This was not what I had planned (or what she had planned, for that matter). She got the system she wanted, and all the bells and whistles needed. But gee whiz! First of all, we didn't eat lunch until 1:00, and by then I was about to faint, even though I had eaten a snack when we left. So, where to go? Food court. I did pretty well--got a plate of cajun style chicken with double vegetables--mostly cabbage, which I love. OK, so then it was back to the store... and more talking and pricing and explanation blah blah blah. Got out of there, famished again. Starbucks. Chai latte and an old fashioned doughnut... :fr: What was I thinking? Way too sweet. I drank 1/3 of the tea and ate half the doughnut and threw the rest out. So here we are, home again... and I'm under my calorie count for the day, but way over on percentage of fat... Bleah! :p Dinner this evening is going to be a drained can of water packed tuna with hot sauce and some crackers, and then I'm done. Chalk it up to a successful if not ideal strategy. And I'm a day behind on my work now, which makes me very irritated, but what can you do? Are you feeling better, Laurie? I hope so! Jay |
Jay :cp: You are AWESOME! Great job on the food - under very difficult circumstances! Throwing out food at Starbucks is a major accomplishment!
I hope your friend appreciates all of your time and effort! While a day away from the routine is nice, it does come with a cost :( I am feeling much, much better. Finally! I went bra shopping after work. Something I have desparately needed to do and not done for way too many lbs. Unfortunately, this small town does not have much of a selection in my size :( But, I did find a couple nice Hanes ones at Walmart that will work. I gotta fly - I still have to pack for the trip. I probably won't be back to post again until Monday or Tuesday. I hope everyone has a fun and safe and ON PLAN weekend! Laurie |
:kickcan:
Sure is lonely in here. No Jude, No CountingDown... Sigh. Once there were many more. I wonder when they'll ever come back? I wonder how they are doing... :stress: Jay |
Blondy
This is my first visit, I am so looking forward to meeting new people and a support team in losing those extra pounds. I have lost my discipline and I'm eating without control. Being single now, one can read a lot into this. But, I really don't want a larger wardrobe. Wanting very much to get this reset button operating. Looking for all suggestions.
|
Hey perkins22! :wel3fc:
Nice to see someone here! I guess all the other active folks are off being active! Suggestions... well, first of all, I'd ask whether you have lost weight in the past, and what method (or methods) you have used. More information might help folks come up with ideas! If you feel like your eating is out of control, make one small rule that you decide not to break today. Not sixteen rules--just one. It could be, no full-sugar soft drinks today. It could be, only 1 slice of whole-grain bread per meal. It could be, eat baby carrots as a snack food today. See what I mean? Don't try to solve everything at once, but do start with something. Cheers! :cheer: Jay |
Hello!
Hello! I'm new, and looking for a place to belong. Since I'm over 50, and ya'll seem like such nice people, this might be a good place to start!
I've been on my diet forever - but started in ernest last Summer when I got back from vacation and was shocked that I gained so much in such a short time. Over the next 6 months I managed to lose about 6 lbs - then my daughter got married. Nothing makes you wake up and smell the coffee like mother of the bride pictures~! I got busy, and since January have lost 32 lbs. I feel like asking everyone to gather back together, and let's take those wedding family pictures again! The diet I've been is one of those where you eat their packaged food and can't eat much of anything else. I've decided I've gone as far with them as I can, and recently joined WW online. I'm loving being able to eat fruit again! And I've actually started losing weight again. Mainly I'm looking for encouragement and support from people who know what I'm going thru. Being over 50 makes everything harder, from exercise (I'm trying to get enthusiastic about pilates, now that I'm able to get down on the floor - and up again) to losing and keeping the weight off. I hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day. Hope to get to know you soon! Val :broc: |
I finished my quilt... can you tell me how to load the picture?
|
Hey Jude! Sorry--I'm not sure! Perhaps send a PM to one of the mods, like Suzanne 3FC?
Jay |

Congrats on day 10 on target! You are doing GREAT! Three lbs. down is fantastic! Hi ALL - I'm Baaacckkkk! Just a quick post to say that we made it back from Chicago safely. AWESOME trip - more details to follow, I'm sure!!!! Needless to say, I will be joining you all in your new June ON PLAN resolutions. Given the phenomenal restaurant choices we had in Chicago, I will be thrilled if the scale only creeps up a couple lbs. (which is what I planned for). I will 'fess up tomorrow and put together an accountability plan. Given my summer of "company" (6 weeks of visitors), I need to make sure that 120 is a real number  Catch up with everyone tomorrow. Laurie |
Hey CD! Good to see you back! Tell us all about the restaurants, etc.!
Aw, thanks for the congrats, CD... but I know by now that it's not the first 3 pounds that matters. Those are the easy ones. Jude, where's that pic of your quilt? We want to seeeeee! Jay |
OK, I've got an extra lb. to lose. My weight was up 3 lbs. this morning - two of which I had already planned for. Back on plan this week!
Chicago is the BEST for vegetarian fare. Lots of strictly vegetarian restaurants, and so many others that have a great selection. Back home we usually have the choice of one or two items on the entire menu. My favorite restaurant on the trip was Karyn's Raw Cafe. They had a Sunday brunch that was absolutely amazing. Pricey - but we had a $25 certificate that made it worth the splurge :) Karyn's Cooked also had some wonderful food! We really enjoyed both locations. The surprise hit was Handlebar which is a "biker" (as in pedal type) bar/restaurant. We had an amazing asiago penne veggie dish - one of the best pasta dishes I've had! The Chicago Diner is a favorite - good old fashioned comfort food - vegetarian style. The avocado tostada was scrumptious! Of course DH's absolutely favorite part of the trip is ALWAYS the Triple Chocolate Stout Cheesecake with an oatmeal stout to chase it down. (There is the extra lb - right there - even though we split it ;) Thankfully, Chicago is a WALKING city. We barely used our transportation pass and chose to walk almost everywhere. We averaged 9 miles a day :D The plays were good - with "Twelfth Night" at the Shakespeare theater on the pier being our absolute hands-down favorite! We rounded out the trip with a trip to the zoo and several parks, the Beer Garden on the end of the pier had different bands each night, and fireworks on Sunday :) |
Hi everyone, Sorry I've been gone so long. Lots of things are going on. I got pinked slipped at work. It was a real shock, and I've been working through all my emotions. I'm back to exercising and calorie counting and hope to stay on program.
|
Lori  no actually :grouphug:
It WILL be OK. Hopefully, the state will use the stimulus money to get most folk back in the jobs where they belong and where we need them. Things are pretty grim up here too! You are in my prayers, chickie! Hang in there! |
Lori, I'm glad to see you back, but sorry about your news. :( Yeah, that would be a shock all right! :yikes:
Listen, hang on! It's a boulder in your path, but you can keep going even if it trips you up a little. CD, thanks for the rundown on vegetarian fare in Chicago! I've never visited the city--just zipped through the airport. I have to say, when I read things like Triple Chocolate Stout Cheesecake I am soooo glad that I'm not fond of cheesecake. Well, there has to be something I can pass up! Oh Juuuuuuude, where arrrre youuuuuuu... Jay |
Hi all - hope you had a good day! I'm still trying to get caught up after being gone. Back at it with the shape boxing today!
DH signed me up to be on his "team" at work for "Let's Get Moving Northern Michigan". It is a wellness competition among the cities/towns up here. So, in addition to getting rid of those couple of Chicago lbs., we are trying to help out the hospital pharmacy team. All the walking in Chicago counted, so we are actually helping the team quite a bit :) |
Hi everyone. I am still here.
Wanted to say to Lori what a shock and hopefully you are managing ok. :( You are in our thoughts. Hope things pick up. I have been trying to load my picture of my quilt for you all to see. It turned out amazing. But it was not fun to make because the velvet is slippery and frays. Laurie I ended up zig zaging every seam. :?: I shrunk the pictures to the size of a pinhead and the attachment still failed. Kept saying not a valid image file. So that was that. I have given up in great frustration. Now I have not been to the gym yet but am getting back into the mood. I know that sounds weird but the head has to be willing too. I just realized that I sent a message yesterday that does not seem to be here. Hmmm.:censored: Jay I was answering your question on the Food and Mood groups. It was great. I was thinking food then mood but no it was about eating the right things that can determine your state of mind. First one is omega 3 and it is the building blocks of the brain and the next one mentioned is folate (folic acid). There was more mentioned but it seems that the healthier your diet the less prone you will be to depression etc. It was all very interesting. It was put on by the dieticians from the local hospital. :bravo: Had a night on exercise by an exercise specialist too. Her expectations were very high. She hoped everyone would strive for an hour of cardio and weight training every other day. No excuses for age. So I have my exercise plan all ramped up again. I have a chart called Eight Minutes in the morning that is off the internet. It does 2 weight training exercises every day. Moving around all the muscle groups. So I am going to incorporate that in with my cardio. Lately I have been only doing cardio but need to step it up a bit. It is easier to work 2 exercises everyday for me. More likely to get them done. Then I have this whole regime for my back as I have arthritis in my back. So that is supposed to be done everyday too. Hard to find time to work!!!:cb::cb::cb: Thanks for the instructions Laurie but just could not get it going. I was going to send my picture to you and see if you could load it but I could not load it to email either. Sounds like you had a fabulous trip. Why Chicago? Never been there but sounded pretty interesting. My food was good until yesterday and my weight was down but today not so good. Food again here at work and there I was munching on cookies. Jeez. I am mad at myself now. I have been doing so well and do not want to lose the momentum. My cravings are down. Not sure what happened today. I sure hate having to be tempted every single day at my workplace. Oh well no one is listening here. Lots of overweight women here too.:soap: Does anyone get that British show on tv called How to Look Good Naked?? Fabulous fun show. It is on the womens channel. Now I know the states brought out one as well but did not do near as good a job as the Brits. It was on at 10pm on Tuesday. Well I had better get back to work.... here is to an OP day tomorrow. Cheers Jude |
Jude - it isn't you - the site is broken. I have seen several other posts complaining of the same thing. Hopefully, they can get attachments working again soon. I really want to see that quilt!!
 don't fret over the work eating, just get back at it. Have a plan for when those cookies appear - because, if your office is like mine - they WILL!!!! I buy myself special ON PLAN indulgences to keep in my drawer at work. When I get those cravings for free office food, I treat myself instead. A good day here - the weather is still cold and rainy, but the gardens are loving it! No scooting all week :( and no evenings around the firepit either. I'm hoping the weekend is better. Hope you had a good day too! |
Thanks CD! I will try the picture again at a later date. I was wondering as I have loaded pictures before. :D
I finally seem to be getting over this free food at work. I was thinking what Jayel had said about only eating something that was really worth it. ;) One of the staff came over to my desk this afternoon with a plate of things while I was on the phone and offered me something. I took a piece of loaf cake without thinking. More to be polite than anything. Well this was nice of her but it was not the kind of food that I would chose to eat anyway. Just very processed bargain basement kind of stuff. I left it sitting there and when I went for water I took it to the kitchen and chucked it. :woohoo: Wow this is getting somewhere. I am finding I am slowly taking the time to think about whether or not I want to eat all that sugar and fat and flour. Usually there is something else going on and I am realizing that no amount of food is going to fix it. :nono: I am finding that the more I have control the less the cravings are getting. I have been able to eliminate the so so stuff anyway. I did well on my holidays. I also find letting myself have the odd treat helps even if it is not OP. Then I try to remember why I thought it was so necessary. I have a long way to go but I do feel like I am having some success whereas a month ago I just craving all the time. It is great to be able to come here and share. I am taking control of a few things that are emotional and were my excuse for eating. Maybe I have just decided to be better to myself than I used to. Anyway it is feeling better. I have set ONE goal to work on and that is me. That is a big enough job for now. Hey Jay!!!!!! Where did you go???? :callme: I have a goal to lose 10 pounds by the end of June and it is coming along slowly. I will get as close as I can. That would mean being at 220. It has been ages since I have been there. :crossed: Hope your weather picks up Laurie. I love to sit around a fire outside. What a nice place to be.... Talk to you tomorrow.....Jude :bike: |
Hi, everyone!
I'm still here, Jude! Glad to hear that you passed up those "treats" you didn't really want. Nothing makes me madder at myself than eating something fattening that I really don't even enjoy. I don't work in an office, but there are foods in the house I could get into trouble with if I chose to. Fortunately they are not the only choices--and that's an important strategy! It's been raining every day here, but that's kind of par for the course. It's rainy this morning, though, and usually it's sunny in the mornings and rains in the afternoon. Makes it kinda gloomy to get up. But I'm happy we have it! The 545-mile SF to LA Bicycle Ride to end AIDS begins on Sunday, and my friend who is doing it is both excited and nervous! I can only imagine... She's been doing training rides on the weekends for months, but still... it's a long haul in 7 days. Also she's only a year younger than me, and 3 years older than when she did it the first time. She's many pounds lighter now, but still, she knows she's not the swiftest or strongest rider in the huge bunch that are doing it. I really admire her! flowingair, I hope you stick around! Let us know how you're doing. Bye for now, Jay |
Hi Thanks for all your kind words and thoughts. School will be out June 15 th and my daughter's wedding is June 27th so I'm really busy. I'm packing up my classroom and bringing things home. There is still a possibility that I'll be called back. My new saying is Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. I think it will help me on my weight journey too! I will try to stay in touch as much as possible.
Hey Jude have you ever tried Picasa. It's a free download from google- I love it you can fix all kinds of things on your photographs and then e-mail them or send as attachments. Talk to everyone soon.-Lori |
