Love the vision of that "Hot Cat", BOBBI . . .

. . . and here's this morning's real-life cat-astrophic story . . .

How did I know for sure there was a full moon last night? I woke up to a full double roll of TP unfurled throughout the house; every cabinet door and drawer in the bathroom standing open and stuff scattered all over the room; and just so the rest of the house wasn't ignored--the garbage under the kitchen counter (yes inside the cabinet) was upset and a couple of artificial plants in the sunroom had been dragged around a bit; guess the cats thought they needed to be relocated.

Glad they had fun. Did you know that having pets has been proven to lower your blood pressure? Mine didn't feel all that low first thing this morning.

I still make almost all my clothes. Guess old habits die hard. If you want something to do with a sewing machine, SUSAN, try piecing and quilting a wall hanging or tote bag by machine. That will keep you busy for some time.

We had nice sun first thing tody, but it has turned overcast this afternoon. Tomorrow's forecast is calling for more wet snow. Hey, I know this Winter will eventually be over. Won't it??????

Ok, everyone, good news from me. I'm now officially a grandmother. Baby Boy was born this afternoon at just over 7 pounds, healthy and happy to be out in the big, wide world.

Hi all, thanks for all your replies, and welcomes, and Isabella, thank you for the answer to my question, that makes sense.

Today is a busy day today, have to take my mother to the heart doctor, I think she is having problems with her pacemaker. I also try to get other things done while in the big city...lol. I live in a town that doesn't even have a Walmart, so what does that tell you? Hope I can do good on my eating. My walking buddy is going with us, and we are leaving early to go to the big mall and do our walk there. So, will get my 30 minutes in, at least.

Have a great day everyone, and yes, winter will be over soon!!!!!, won't it????
It's 29 here this morning, so not too sure....lololol.

Susann, we have a lot in common. I take care of my 91 year old mom and I live in a very small town that definitely does not have a Walmart. Ha, ha. And my husband is a school bus driver.

Our baby is so sweet. He looks like his dad except he has his mother's nose. They won't let us post pictures on the internet so you'll just have to take my word that he's the most gorgeous baby ever born. We're leaving tomorrow as soon as DH gets off work and we'll be gone for a week visiting with the children and grandchild. And of course we'll be making visits to DH's father who is still in hospital in the city. This is quite stressful for DH because the family may remove him from dialysis and DH will be the one to convey that message to the doctors. I wish FIL would just pass away naturally so that decision doesn't have to be made and carried out. There's a meeting with the doctor on Saturday morning so we'll see what she has to say first, of course.

OK, I can't dwell on that because we've got a baby to see and a good eating plan to stick with. I don't usually weigh mid week but since I gained 2.5 pounds last week I hopped on the scale yesterday and I had lost 3 pounds since Saturday and this morning another half pound so I've got things under control again. I would assume I won't lose much more this week but I'm so happy to get that unwanted reappeared weight gone.

It's a mild overcast day here. I'm still in my nightgown and I ran outside to put a bag of garbage in the trash can (which is by the back door) and the cover blew away across the yard. So there I was in a sleeveless, just above the knee nightie chasing the cover to the garbage can across the yard. I can tell you I was well chilled when I got inside. But I noticed that that cold sharp nip was gone out of the air.

Take care and I'll catch you all later.

Ladies.....
I was shocked by the scale<------in a good way!!!!!
I thought maybe a pound loss would be something to celebrate. I had a 3 pound 'whoosh'. I thought I was one of the 'whooshless' as I hadn't had a significant loss of over 1 pound since the first week on induction.
So it took a total of 70 days to reach onderland. But I'M HERE!!!!
I could have never made it without these boards. The information (recipes, advice, experience) and support helped me stick with it when I stalled for weeks. Thanks to all........
It's such a relief to be successful over what has seemed like (for me anyway) a long haul. It helps me to stay focused on NO CHEATING, NO ALCOHOL(until I'm no longer obese). For me carbs and alcohol lead to over eating. I can stick with this because I feel better off processed foods. More energy and less cravings.
Still have a lot to lose but I really feel like I will be successful with some more hard work and this life style change.

Q A Pill to Replace Exercise?
What can you tell me about this new pill that gives you the benefits of exercise without exertion? It sounds too good to be true.

I wouldn't count on a pill to give you the benefits of exercise, at least not anytime soon. The substance you're referring to is known as AICAR and has been tested for its effects on exercise only in mice. A study published in the July 30, 2008, online issue of the scientific journal Cell reported that when this compound was given to mice that normally didn't get any exercise, they were able to run 44 percent longer on a treadmill than mice that didn't get the substance.
I've never heard of this pill before today, it probably messes up something else in your body.
Congrats Isabella on the new baby boy!
Meow...Didn't you heard the cats banging around last night? I guess they have to exercise their little legs and minds somehow.
Fluffy....Great accomplishment!

Hi Lynn..........did you find a scrabble game yet. I just received my new one, "Scrabble Journey" today. I haven't had a chance to install it yet, I'll let you know if it's worth buying.
Hi Susan, it doesn't really get very cold where you live, does it?
I've never been to Kentucky but when I see picture of it, it's always green with horses running in white picket fences. We had a horse racing track in Minnesota (Minneapolis) that is now closed. We spent many hours of fun there, I'd love to dress up in a fancy hat and go to the Kentucky Derby. Ever been there?
Hi everyone else, gotta get movin'.

Have started a multifruit cobbler...peaches with berries....in the oven getting hot before add the topping. Articoke dip and reg dip are done.veggies cut up.....gesh been easier to say what needs doing....the roll ups and make the sandwiches in the am. I picked up an interesting Prevention booklet about food/nutrition for people who are prediabetic or diabetic.

Stresses fiber, calcium, vitamin D, and omega 3. When I get back from FL, I might try it. The meal plans have a lot more calories than I generally eat, but, maybe with the additional fiber, it might work.

Claims to reduce blood sugar and pounds.

Hi all, today was a very trying day. Thank goodness I got my 30 minute walk in before Mother's doctors visit. She has to have a new pacemaker, that will be done next Tuesday. We had to go for blood work, and the whole morning was hurry up and wait. By the time we were able to eat lunch, I didn't care if I did good or not. We went to a great Chinese restaurant, and I did pretty good. Tomorrow we go to her primary care dr to see if we can find out why her ankles are swelling, shortness of breath and belching. I sort of thought they might be related to her heart, but they said no.

Isabella, I feel for you girl, taking care of mother is one of the hardest jobs I've ever had, but I certainly don't resent it, I'm sure you don't either. And your hub drives a school bus, how cool is that.

Hi way2fluffy, we haven't met, but congrat's on your 3 lb swoosh!

Bobbi, I keep seeing miss kitty in heat....lololol. We normally don't get down in the teens , maybe 3 or 4 days a winter. We do have 30's a lot, and 20's some. Of course, this winter was the ice storm and it was horrible here. I am in western kentucky, the ky derby is in another part of the state. No, I haven't been, I used to think I would like to go, but now would rather watch it on tv than to fight the crowd. You can google Kentucky Lake or Barkley Lake, or Land Between the Lakes and see the area where I live.

Meow, I've tried quilting, not my thing either....lol. I do have some more chair cushions for my deck to make, need to get those done soon.

Karen, glad to hear you are feeling better, and good golly, your menu sounded great, are you a caterer?

Good luck Lynn, I already take the omega 3, the calcium with D, and a lot more, I have Crohn's Disease and the vitamins keep my immune system up and running. I've been very blessed to not have to take any medication for it. I truly believe in my vitamins.

Oh, Bobbi, I meant to tell you. If you live close to a Hancock Fabrics, or a Hobby Lobby, every couple of months they run their patterns on sale for .99 each. Usually with a limit of 5. You can go on their websites and they have their weekly sales on there. Then you can go to Simplicity, Butterick or McCalls websites and pick out patterns that you like, so you know what you want when you go.

Everyone have a great day!

I've lost that nasty 2.5 pounds I gained last week plus an extra pound for a total of 3.5 pounds this week. I'm weighing in early because we are going to see Baby this afternoon and I won't have scales for over a week.

So if I'm missing for a few days you'll know I'm on a serious date with my new grandson.

I'll try and check in now and then on DS's computer but I've got a feeling that any spare time I have will be spent with the baby or cleaning house. Ha, ha.

Busy day yesterday -- but I did manage to keep the eating in check -- I'm definitely on a good roll this month and boy oh boy do I ever hope I can continue it

Today will be one of mostly hibernation for me -- not that I'm superstitious or anything -- just, well, 'better safe than sorry' as they say.

Afraid our weather for both yesterday and today has been pretty winter-like. Very windy and very cold -- but sunny.

Have a good day . . .

A quick scan of recent post, much to say but no time. I'll have to re-read them all tomorrow and comment. We are on our way into town to pack up some of MIL clothes, linens, etc. We'll move her into 'Autumn Lane', a memory unit next Wednesday. Susan...You are new and don't know about MIL, she is in the middle stages of Alzheimers and been living in her own apartment. We have lots of furniture and stuff to go through this coming week. Good for you and Isabella for taking your mom's in. I would gladly have taken my mom too, she was a sweet heart. (Died two years ago). My MIL is what comedians joke about, over-bearing, demanding, every bad thing you can think of. My DH is an only child and she took him out of her will 5 years ago because we wouldn't bend to her demands. We won't shed a tear when she croaks. Enough of that, gotta go pack up some of her stuff. Thanks God Alheimers have dulled her sharp tongue.

And the ultimate 'Bad Taste' in fashion for the older folks...

14. Thongs and Depends.

Please keep these basic guidelines foremost in your mind when you shop.

A quick message to Bobbi, Thank God that my mother is the sweetheart that she is, because my MIL is so much like yours. She has recently moved to our town, and DH is at her house every day trying to help her get settled. Even though she is loud, overbearing and demanding, she also has her good qualities, and has been good to us. My MIL really doesn't know how to be kind and loving, I'm sorry that yours doesn't either. I don't think I could take care of her, or have her move in with us though. Hope all goes well with you today!!
