Evening all....OMG I'm ruined just ruined forever. I bought a bag of trail mix by Ocean Spray with dried cranberries, nuts and chocolate chips. Read about using something that would boost up my calories at the end of the day. Yup, if it wasn't for Dash I'd have comsumed the whole bag.....it wasn't even the end of the day, but on my way home from the store. Dash begged for a taste and then demanded his share....struck me as hysterical when I wanted to growl at him for eating my stuff.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Won't be buying more!
I'm so sorry you are getting cold and damp days. We opened the house up today and got the pool pump running right. The weather here for next 2 months should be perfect. I'll be replanting my tomatoes when we get back. Picked the 1st Myers lemons today and going to have cuppa tea with lemon soon. Told you that's a lemon with manderian orange cross. OH so yummy sweet (well for a lemon)
Gotta get my ice water and curl up to watch Survivor...I know it's dumb, but still enjoy watching them. Must admit I yell at the really stupid people. Shut the door and growl all by myself.
Hugs, Karen3

Hi all. Glad you mentioned Survivor Karen3. I don't follow the show every week but enough to know what's going on.
We had a very nice sunny day. I had a full clothes line of towels out today and they dried by suppertime. I put them out around lunch time. Although its warm we're not getting the heat of summer so the clothes do take longer to dry. Got in all my exercise and I was bushed. I've increased the resistance on my exercise bike and I almost cried by the time I was finished. When I came upstairs mom wanted to know what was wrong with me as I could barely get one foot in front of the other coming up the stairs.
My new mattress set arrived today so I might get to bed on time tonight just to say I tried it out before midnight. Mattresses are so deep nowadays. DH wanted to know if I'd need a stool to climb on to get in bed. I told him I could get in but I might need a guard rail in case I roll over and fall out. Those few extra inches really make a difference. I guess DH and I will feel like the King and Queen of dreamland tonight.
Going to a funeral tomorrow. DH's 83 year old uncle passed away earlier this week. He can't get time off work so I'm going and DS will watch mom. I hardly know his cousins except for one and about the only time I see the others is at funerals. My MIL will be there, as it was her late sister's husband, so at least there will be one familiar face.
Have a good evening Golden Girls.

Morning all
Dang Karen3 that trail mix sounds positively decadent! 'Stead of growling at him you should thank Dash for saving you from a dreadful fate
Oooh Isabella, I'm so very jealous of your new mattress! Ours is getting old and it was an el cheapo to start with. Hard in some spots and squishy in others. DH is starting to have trouble with his shoulder (maybe a pinched nerve). Maybe I can convince him it's the mattress so I can get a new one too. Sorry to hear about your DH's uncle. He was the same age as Paul Newman. Making me nervous - MIL is 83 too
Taking off a little early today - got eye doctor appointment. Need to make sure I'm not seen squinting at those job applications Since my eye doctor is in a mall pretty good chance I'll sneak some shopping in too.....
Have a spectacular day ladies!

Hi Yoyo. I got a really good deal on the mattress and box spring at Sears, Canada. It's a pillowtop that never needs turning and it was on sale for 449.99 for the double set and 549.99 for the queen. We got the double as our room is on the small size and I guess we're used to rolling over on each other after 30 years. A good jab in the ribs takes care of territorial take-overs. The new mattress is a firm one but the pillow top is so nice and soft it's really comfortable.
DH's uncle definitely did not look like Paul Newman. And guess who did not show up at the funeral? My MIL. Fortunately, my FIL, SIL and BIL were there so we sat together. MIL said she couldn't find her black shoes so she couldn't go. I just shook my head and left it alone. One of DH's cousins did a tribute to her father and she broke down but all in all it was a short little service without too much crying. I never went to the graveside as I had to get back with mom and get a few things done.
I weigh in tomorrow and I hope the scales move downward instead of staying glued to the same number again. I've been pretty much on plan all week and even my indiscretions have been minor. The last two days I've increased the severity of my workouts and worked up a real sweat.
Have a great weekend everyone. I don't expect much online activity from the Golden Girls during the weekend.

Morning all and Welcome to Mamaduck!
It is getting a little chilly here in the mornings too, but by the time it's afternoon it's in the 80's which is nice. October is my favorite month here weather-wise!
Had a really busy week at school, but we were off yesterday for the Parish Fair day (we don't have counties here, we have parishes) So, Thursday afternoon DH and I went out to eat and then swung by the new gym so I could finally join. Found out that for just 20 more a month we could get a couples membership, so my husband decided to join too. He is still in really great shape. He used to be a weight lifter and decided to give it a whirl again. So since I had the day off yesterday, we went for the first time and had a great time. The machines they have are great. You bring earphones with you and all of the machines have cable tv built in. That will be great when I start going at 5 in the morning before work. I won't miss the news! Nothing like chugging away on treadmill and watching the food channel! The place is gorgeous and the steam room was the best! There was a set of scales in the dressing room and I weighed myself for the first time in about 8 months. Not bad.
Spent the rest of the day just working around the house and playing with my weed flame thrower in the driveway. Then spent the evening correcting papers for 3 hours while watching tv.
Not sure what's on our plate for today.
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Good Saturday Morning!
I don't have anything exciting to talk about other than a delicious recipe I made yesterday. DH loved it, I'll post the recipe on the sticky after I post this short message.
Cat...Exercising with DH can be very beneficial to both of you, We joined a "snap" program last year and encouraged each other. If one of us didn't feel like going, the other would urge us on. When the price of gas starting rising, we quit because it's a 20 mile round trip. If you can pull yourself out of bed at 5 in the morning, good for you.
Isabella...I think week-ends are for catching up on house/yard work and family. We're retired so one day is pretty much the same as other days. Sunday after church we do the family thing, my dad is 93 and he so enjoys all the family visiting him. I hope the scales moved for you.
Karen3...I'm a card player too, I haven't played bridge for a zillion years but DH and I were in many card clubs where we played 500. What fun they were, we'd make huge 4 course meals and drink lots of wine. We dropped out a few years ago because it was always at night and we didn't want to leave the comfort of our home. I found a 500 download for my computer and I can play the game anytime I want. It has 3 other players and I can change partners anytime I want. I also play Scrabble and some word games, it keeps my mind active.
I hadn't meant to gab so long, today I'm putting away a couple of the bird baths, some big outdoor planters, etc. DH needs to mow the lawn one more time too, we have unusual warm weather for this time of year. The last 3 nights have been in the 30's but warms up to 70's in the day. I can still hang out my wet clothes on the lines.
You all have a great day and I'll post that yummy pudding recipe.

Another card player here . . . did manage to acquire a few (very few ) Master points in Bridge but haven't played for years -- Euchre is my game of choice because it is so fast moving (only 5 tricks per hand and game is just 10 points) and I have a great version on my computer that sounds like Bobbi's 500 in that you can change partners and play whenever the spirit moves you.
We are having another gloriously sunny day around here and I must get out to play again. It won't be long before I'm complaining about the snow, I'm sure.
Had a good clean-eating day yesterday and working on another one today.
See you later, gang . . . grouphug:

I weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 pounds. I was very happy.
The weather changed last night from fairly warm to cold and rainy and it's been cold and raining on and off all day. DH went for a walk but came back because he doesn't like walking in the cold.
Bobbi, I must go look at that recipe.

Cat, I had to laugh at that. Sometimes when I'm watching The Biggest Loser I'm eating. I think to myself that it's funny to be watching a weight loss show and eat at the same time. Oh, well we all have to eat. Not like it's a habit you can give up.

Bobbi, I just looked at that recipe and it looks delicious. I think I'll give that a try for sure. I'll have to pick up the apple pie spice as I'm all out.

Morning all! Ended up having a really fun day yesterday. DH and I went to the gym for a couple of hours and after exercising, I gave myself a full spa treatment while DH worked on his arms so more (he used to lift weights and is really getting into it again...he already has great arms!) Then we puttered around the house for a while then went back to the gym in the late afternoon. They were having a margarita party out by the pool with a guy playing guitar. We had a great time. Got an order of humas there and later went to another place that has a great patio outside and got another drink and split a tuna salad. All in all a perfect day.
Hubs is off to work now so I'll just spend the day here cleaning and getting ready for the work week.

Morning all....Super quiet here..Am like a kid the day before Xmas. I wanna leave now. Right now! Just know that if we wait until tomorrow morning something will happen. DD called and they already left for NC. DH has the Jeep packed and Dash is singing my song....Leave Now ohhhhhhhhhhh please.
Went to office supply store yesterday for cp cord and for some reason suddenly remembered that DD had asked me to bring a Fl souvenir for her boss. Instruction were tacky is good. The boss thinks she is coming to Fl and has no idea yet they are leaving the job in Feb for NC retirement. So she lied that she would be here. Got mugs and matching salt'npepper shakers with mantees on them.....Tacky enough?
While packing yesterday tried on a bunch of clothes....Fall stuff and realized I am a little short on wearable stuff. I have gone from a 56D bra to 46C. So all my shirts and jackets look baggy. It will be 2 months before I needed cooler clothes here so have time when we get back.
Tried playing bridge online yesterday for the first time in years. I thanked my partner and complimented the oppt's play with no reaction. I thought how rude....when they started chatting using the Russian letters. Wonder how to figure out who speaks English? Used play with this marvelous guy from Italy late at night and even reading his notes was lovely.....Tickles me to be at a table with someone from Saudi Abrabia, HongKong and the Outback....we can play together with no problems. Wish the whole world could do the same.....well do admit don't tell the Saudie I'm female....
Sorry...just rambling on because I have this pending doom feeling. Taking my old laptop with me and hopefully can check in during the week. hugs, Karen3

Retired...oh yeah, I eat during biggest loser too. I have yet to give up evening tv watching snacks...they are just different snacks now.
Speaking of BL, I always wonder how they can lose weight throwing back those Subway sandwiches without getting horrid cravings later with all that bread!! Subway doesn't serve any whole grain breads. tsk tsk!!!!
Yesterday at the gym while we were working out, my husband got a muscle punch with strawberries. I took a sip and asked him if it had sugar and he said yes, but he'd go back and get me something like it with no sugar. I could not believe it when he came back and said all the protein type drinks had sugar. Why bother?? geez.

Hi everyone, Beautiful weekend, sunny a slightly cool. Just the way I like it! Didn't get too much exercie, unless you count power shopping. Do You? I did take a walk, but not enough. And I did lift my weights. So not all is lost. I am sad to say that I have gained some weight back. I was doing so well. I was at goal for 9 months and this is the first weight gain. It seemed that as the cooler the weather got the hungrier I got. Going back to my caveman days, thinking I had to store fat for the witner?
Cat, that new Gym sounds like fun! What a nice gift, for you and for DH. And so many extra's!
Isabella, we got new mattresses last year and I couldn't believe how big they were. I practically have to crawl into bed. I could use a latter but I would fall over it and kill myself! Explaine that to the coroner. "she was getting out of bed..."
Karen, You sound so excited, it's catching... I'm excited for you! have a great time!
Bobbi, haven't checked out the recipe yet but i'm going to right now. I'm always looking for soemthing new to make.
Make it a good day, Freda

Morning all, just a quick wave this morning. (I have to get ready for a funeral)
It's going to be in the 70's again all week so none of our fall leaves have dropped yet. It's always good exercise to rake some of them up, we have too big a yard and too many trees to get to all of them. DH used the lawn mower to chop most of them up and the wind takes them away. Speaking of wind, DH bought me the most beautiful wind chimes last summer for my birthday and I regret taking them in for the winter. The music they play is beautiful.
Freda...Those pounds can sneak up on you, it's wonderful that you keep watching and weighing. Nipping it in the bud before it gets out of hand is a smart move on your part. I made that mistake after I made goal a couple of years ago, I left 3 fc, didn't weigh myself and pretty much had a party. Then I had to START ALL OVER!
Gotta run, Bye.
