Isn't it great when you can find a sweet recipe that you can eat. I buy a sponge cake that is very low in calories and serve it with fruit. I don't feel one bit guilty eating a small piece.

DH and I went blueberry picking this morning or I should say we planned on picking blueberries but there were none!!! Totally picked over and we didn't want to go deep in the woods. I managed to get about 3/4 cup and made a very small steamed pudding using only 3/4 cup flour. It will be enough for one small slice each. DS has picked about 2 gallons so that's all we have put away for the winter and I think I have one more gallon bag in the freezer left over from last year. Oh, well I can always buy frozen berries the winter if and when we run out.

I weighed in yesterday and didn't move the scales from last week. I guess losing 2.5 pounds the week before was enough for me for a while. In celebration of not losing, I pigged out last night with crackers and cheese and a couple of cookies. I actually felt really hungry but I probably could have had something less fattening. I must have eaten at least 3 oz of cheese and 12 ww saltine crackers. I felt lousy this morning and couldn't eat breakfast. Funny, though, I'm looking forward to dinner.

I'm starting 3FC The Biggest Loser challenge that's starting on the 14th of the month. Hopefully, that will shake things up a bit with me. I've never lost past the 150s since I was married 30 years ago and I'm afraid if I don't watch what I'm doing I'll climb back up again. So I must be vigilant in all I do these days. (I guess the cheese and cracker episode will have to be my last for a long while.)

It's always quiet here on the weekends. Hope everyone is enjoying theirs.

I'm going solo into town this afternoon, DH was hungry for Ham and Bean soup. He's putting the bone in ham in the oven for tonight, I'll make soup tomorrow.
I had the library print up 3 obituaries, MIL keeps telling us she's been on shopping trips with these three people. She gets mad at us because we don't believe her and insists these friends are alive. It's not much fun visiting her but we'll be old someday too! That will be my 1st stop today.
Gayle...Thanks, I didn't know it was grandparents day. Obviously my grands kids don't know it either. Nobody has showered me with gifts, kisses or food treats!
Isabella...
The dessert was really good, I read a few post on another site that talked about sugar free angel food cake you can buy. I should do that in the future instead of using up so many of our organic eggs. At least Charlie (our English Setter) gets some benefits out of making our own angel food cake, he loves eggs and I cooked up all the yolks for him.

Time to hit the road, catch ya all tomorrow.

Hi all....Quiet weekend. So quiet I forgot to post my data on the acc'ty site. I careful wrote it all down and forgot to transpose. Guess I do better under pressure.

Made a big pot of mixed vegies. Everything I could find in refrig, freezer and pantry. Figure a bowl is at least 4 vegies servings. Plus the store had 5 grain baton bread....which is a loaf smaller that baget. So had that and vegies for dinner. Size of loaf was great....ate enough and nothing left to tempt me later. And have lots of vegies left to use all week. Nice to ladle and nuke along with a meat and dinner is ready....love to cook but do love short cuts, too.

Latest on Ike looks like he is following Gustav. Have to keep one eye on the NHC for next 4 days. Looked over at South Beach chicks and Cat is okay. They were without power until this weekend and she had been waiting for a battery fan from her DM. (Best thing I ever bought at Wallyworld.) You have no idea how hard it is to sleep in the heat and humid after a storm and power off.....it is ugly!

Dash's lab reports came back as "staph"....best we can figure is he had bites and scratched them. So a month on antibiotics for him and he gets to travel with us to NC.

Time to pack the vegie stew in a tub and finish cleaning up the kitchen. Hugs, karen3

'Evening Chickies

Sorry that I've been silent for too many days. My oldest DD and her sweet dog, Sydney left on Sat. after her recouperating from her ligament surgery. Still gets a new cast tomorrow for 4 more weeks , poor baby. She's getting frustrated with her limitations. Anyway DS, DDiL, and DGD arrived on Friday night, so had a house full again.... nice...

Had tons of fun with DGD who is 18 months, played, played, played.

Stay safe Karen 3 and maybe Glynne and Cat depending on what Gustav does.

Hanna blew through with loads of rain, but the wind wasn't bad.

Wishing all of you a good week.

Eileen

We got dumped with rain from Hanna yesterday, last night and this morning but it's supposed to clear up later on today. No wind though.

Eileen, sounds like you've had your hands full. My DS and DIL will be here for Thanksgiving (weekend of Oct 10-13 in Canada) so we're looking forward to their visit. They finally sold their house and bought a new one all in the same week. They take possession of the new house towards the end of this month. DIL phoned me yesterday and told me she was craving Thanksgiving dinner and no one was around to cook her anything yummy. Her mom is coming to stay with her this week so she'll pamper her a bit. DS does his best but can't do much when working, ha, ha. Since she gotten pregnant she's had all sorts of funny cravings. It's been so long since I've been pregnant but I can certainly identify with food cravings.

Karen3, glad you found out what was wrong with Dash. He'll be feeling much better soon.

Bobbi, how'd your MIL take the news about her 3 dead friends? Bet she didn't believe a word of it.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning ladies,

We got some of the rain all the way up here in Michigan. Not any wind though, and we really needed the rain. Brought the cool weather with it also.

Gayle, Guess my family forgot it was GrandParents day too. To give them the benefit of doubt, they are terribly busy right now! DIL just got a new job and is preparing for that, They just bought a Curves and are trying to get that started, and they have to go to Texas for a week for Curves training, trying to get ready for that. The kids just started school, and they are both still working. So' I guess i'll give them a break, and say they were just too busy to remember right now.

Bobbi, Sad about your MIL. It must be terrible for her, and the family too. I can't even imagine. My mom is getting very forgetful and will argue about things too. But she's still at the point that she KNOWS she's forgetful at least.

Karen3, I hope Ike don't bring in any nasty surprises. Sorry to hear about Dash. I hope he's feeling better soon. I love to cook too, and take all the short cuts I can take. Wait, maybe it's just eating I love to do!!

Hi Eileen, Glad to hear that DD is coming alone well. I'm sure trying to do things with one hand is frustrating, but it won't be too long. Aren't the Grands so much fun? I enjoy mine so much. And 18 months is such a fun age. DH and i were just reminising about the things our did at that age. And they are fun now too. Continiously keep us on our toes.

Isabell, I can identify with the food craving too. I still remember with I craved while I was pregnant. Potato chips and butttermilk. Don't make any sense, but I guess cravings don't have to. Are you going to go up and her the family get oved in?

Take care all, Freda

Morning, please say a prayer for our daughter Tiffany, she had a cat scan last week, today we'll get the results of it. They found a large cyst on her kidneys, she's a single mom with two boys 16 & 10. (She's 38 years old) DH is going with her today for her 3:00pm appointment. I'm scared!
Meowee...You must not have your laptop fixed yet. I have Vista on my new computer and once the bugs were worked out, it runs great.
Eileen... Down another 2 pounds on the "Accountability" thread. Good Job! I was down 1 pound on Friday but it popped back up, darn! Saturday DH purchased a huge bone-in-ham and I'll be tubby/bloated all week from eating that. We're going to eat it for a few days until there's just enough meat on the bone to make bean soup.
Isabella...I didn't have to pull out the obits yesterday because she was living in the present tense. We'll only use them when her mind goes back to the past.
Freda...With all the types of potato chips they have on the market, chips and buttermilk isn't so weird. I love the sour cream chips, probably much like your combination.
Hi everyone else, hope you have a good day.

Morning Ladies!

Oh Bobbi here are tons of positive thoughts for your DD Hoping everything will work out OK for her!

Thought about you all weekend Karen3 watching those weather reports and seeing Ike grinding his way toward the coast. This morning they were saying he was going to hang out in Cuba for the day and may weaken a little but could pick up strength again if he spends too much time in over the Gulf. hope your house stays safe! If the water rises too much would you end up with 'gators in your pool? Talk about 'motivation' to swim fast

This weekend I discovered the reason that dancing around and acting goofy while wearing flip-flops is not appropriate after a certain age Slipped out of my shoe and twisted the bejeebers out of my right ankle - looks like I have a grapefruit in my sock! And fell on my left side bruising my left foot, skinning my elbow, and jamming my shoulder in the process. Good thing I'm lighter these days or I probably would have broken something. The bruise on the left foot actually hurts worse than the sprained ankle so I'm walking like I'm 90. Lesson learned - no matter how chipper you are feeling, do not dance around unless you are wearing sensible shoes. Really ticks me off too - almost all of my exercises revolve around standing or dancing Gonna have to go find some videos for a routine that is primarily on the floor. I can still use my resistance bands for upper body and I should still be able to do crunches, women's push ups, leg lifts and the like. Cardio is apt to suffer though. Hope this doesn't take too long to heal!

Hope you all have a wonderful, safe day

Oh, Bobbi, I'll pray for your daughter and her family and you and your husband. Illness affects everyone, doesn't it.

Freda, I'd love to go and help DS and DIL move but I can't because I have mom with me. DIL has rounded up a cleaning posse so she won't have to do much heavy work and she has brothers coming out of her ears so she'll get them to help with some of the moving. DS is going to take the day off work when they move. I'm just itching to get out and help but I have to keep mom sweet and fluffed up. Fortunately, they understand. They will both graduate from university in October and I'm going to attend that affair. DIL with a BA in English and DS with a MA in Technology Education. I've asked my sister to get a day off work so I can drop mom off with her for the weekend. We live 400+ kilometres away from each other so we have to plan these things out. Mom can't take too many long trips because of her age and the Parkinson's Disease.

Good job on the weight loss, Eileen. I didn't check yesterday and totally forgot to post my day until just a few minutes ago when I reviewed everyone's progress.

I think I'll go have a yogurt. I feel hungry and I don't want to eat too much later on.

Evening all.....It must be awful in the islands south of us. They have had so many terrible storms and conditions weren't good before. Havana seems to have lucked out and just a tropical storm right now. Alot we'll never know for sure.

Bobbi your DD is in my prayers. I added you, too. Being Mom is hard sometimes.

Really worried about Lynn.....maybe we should say a prayer for her, too...just in case!

I have finally sorted thru my blouses and sent a bunch off. The pucker type were just too big. The others that I had always worn as a "jacket" with tank top are now so loose I can button them without the buttons straining. The tanks are slipping south! So today i wore just the shirt buttoned. And several people said they would really see the weight change. Made a nice day and kept me smiling, for sure.

Tell me more about the 5K Challenge?

gotta go pull out some cook books and come up with something different for Friday...................hugs, Karen3

Morning.....Boy do we need a check in from all our chicks!

Bobbi...what's happening with your DD?

Linda...Has Vista swallowed your puter?

YoYo...How are your aches?

Lynn...Where are you?

Rosey...Are you okay?

Isabella and Eileen...Thank goodness you2 are okay!

Freda...If I ate anything that tasted like a chip I'd been done/driven/in hog heaven... and not stop eating them. Sweets I can say no, but saltys oh yum!

Off to the bridge table. I will be cooking and whining Thursday with snacks...hugs, Karen3

Good morning Ladies! We sure had a busy weekend with the grandkids here. We got them on Saturday morning and they went home last night. Needless to say I didn't get any "real" exercise in but I don't think I did too bad with my eating. I'm hoping for a loss this week.

Bobbi, You and your DD are in my prayers. Please let us know how everything is.

Karen3-- Glad to hear from you. Sure hope Ike fizzles out!

Well, just poppe in for a minute--- Hello to everyone that I missed and will try to get back more often!

Ok, ladies, here's the scoop on the 3FC 5k. I've quoted from the 1st page of the 5k thread. EZMONEY usually does this but he's out of town working and asked me to do the sign ups. I started working towards a 5k jog and/or walk around April and by May I was able to jog the whole 5k but my calves gave out and kept going in spasms so now I just walk. I do a 5k 3x a week but when I do the 3FC 5k I know there are other Chickies doing it the same time. I've cut a few minutes off my time over this last month and I hope I will have it down on the Thanksgiving/Columbus Day weekend. It's open to everyone on the Board. You don't have to walk or jog outside, you can do it on a TM or Elliptical or even with a workout DVD. Just read the quote below and you'll get the idea. There's a link to the sign up thread in my signature.

Quote:
3FC Canadian Thanksgiving ~ Columbus Day 5K
Is it already time for another 5K? You bet it is. No time like the present to get fit and firm.

We have had such great results from our first five 5K's that we can't stop now! Our 6th 5K will be... CANADIAN THANKSGIVING~COLUMBUS DAY, OCTOBER 10-13.

For those that are new, or not sure what is going on here, we are about to enter our 6th 5K as a group. We do a 5K, which is 3.1 miles, on or about the same day supporting each other with our results and experiences. You may run, jog, walk, wog, bike, swim, hop, skip, jump, or fly (no, don't try that !). You get the idea. We have found out that it almost impossible not to fit into one of our categories...if you can't find one, we will make one for you!

ALL SIGN-UPS and your NUMBERS will be posted in the post following this one. After you post and I reply that you are in, you may go to it and find your number. I won’t be able to come close to Gary’s colorful posts but you will find your number and your name.

RESULTS will be posted in a separate thread that will be created just before October 10.

DATE OF THIS 5K ~ Friday, October 10 thru Monday, October 13. This gives us about 6 weeks to train and 4 days to complete it or do several of them if we want.

CATEGORIES ~ If you can’t find a category that describes you, we'll make one up. Anything goes (anything nice, that is!!! )

Time for new stories! Time to try something new! Time to get up and MOVE IT!!
Yoyo, how's your foot? I can so identify with falling out of a shoe. I'm such a klutz. I'm always falling out of my slippers. I was just thinking today that I should wear sneakers in the house instead of slippers.

I'm like Karen3 with the chips/salty snacks. I can eat my weight in chips. (OK, that's probably what I did!)

Hope everyone is having a good day. The rain is stopped here and I have a line of clothes drying outside. And the humidity is all gone. Yeah!
