Hello Everyone,
I am checking in this week after finding it difficult to even sign on the last week.
Went out to eat for our GD's birthday on Sunday. She was so excited and such a little cutie. She is our only grandchild so we give her all of our attention. I ordered a salad and wasn't able to finish the whole thing. It sure tasted funny without the tomatoes - and I love tomatoes.
Yoyo, you mentioned your MIL not wanting to use a walker. Mine is almost 91 and barely able to get around with a walker and is refusing to let us push her around in a wheelchair. We even gave her a wheelchair so she wouldn't say they were too expensive to buy. She says it makes her look like an invalid. People look at my husband or me when we take her out shopping as if we're being mean to her by making her push that walker along and rest every few feet. We'd love to take her out more often so we don't have to keep fetching her items she requests then return them to the store because they weren't like the pictures in the newspaper ad. We have told her that we won't take her anymore unless she uses the wheelchair so now she calls our DD. - Sorry, but I just had to vent.

I am walking more this week now that the weather is so nice. Took a 2 mile walk yesterday and 1.7 brisk walk today. I also do the wii Fit training in the evenings. I probably won't notice any weight loss because of the muscle I am building, but if the clothes fit better I don't care right now.

Hope everyone has a good week and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for good news on your exam results Lynn and hey, great news on the BMI!
So sorry to hear about your friend's loss Isabella. I am sure she appreciates that you are there for her.

Lily

Evening Chickies
Hope you all had a great day. Thank you all ( especially Lynn, Freda, YoYo and Isabella ) for the encouragement on my loss.
I probaly am a bit optimistic to be able to hope for a consistent 1-2 lbs, but any loss is good. I'm sure that I'll be happy with anything showing a decrease.

Isabella, I'm so sorry to learn about your friend's miscarriage. I'll keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

Well time to log into daily accountability, get some sleep. Goodnight
Eileen

Good Morning Everyone,

Lightning came inside my DD's house last night. No one was hurt, but LOTS of electrical stuff fried.

Maybe bc of the storm, I had some kind of glitch with my class. Couldn't see anyone's posts until this morning.

My AC is not working - blows, but doesn't cool. I didn't sleep very well bc of the heat. I'm sure it will be tough getting someone here today, but I'm going to try. Heat wave in PA is wicked.

Take care,

Lynn

Hey everyone!!!!!

Yes, I am still in the land of the living! I thought that once school was out that I'd have more time to post, but it seems it is just the opposite. Been loaded with work which I am trying to get up and do very early so I can hit the gardens when the sun comes up. I also have 4 guys living here this summer, so I've had to do a lot of cooking and cleaning etc which I am also trying to get done in the mornings so I can play in the afternoons.

It seems that almost every afternoon ,after everyone returns home after work, turns into a bloody mary party out on the patio with friends also dropping by, so it's been a fairly "social" summer so far.
Got a new wall fountain and solar lights out on the patio, so it's now pretty perfect out there for entertaining with everything blooming and all lush.

My Brother in law who is staying with us did get a job and started yesterday. He is also on the hunt for a house in the area so he can move my sister in law back home also. All great news.

Good Morning GG's,

Lynn, OMG, How scary was that! Thank God no one was injured. Having everything fried is bad enough! I hope you get your air back up soon. Can youeven imagine how people survived the heat when we didn't have air. Lots of sleepless nights?

Isabella, sorry to hear about your friend. Prayers for her.

Lily, I only have one son and he has a son and daughter, so I know what you mean. They are are life. So precious, and fun too.

YoYo, I understand the problem with older people not wanting to follow the safety measure we try so hard to set for them. In an attempt to stay independant they end up having falls and getting hurt, taking away more of their independance. I teach this all the time. Use the conviences that are available to you. A really smart person understands their limitations and still does everything they can to stay independant in SPITE of them. Work with what you have. It can always be worse. wonder how many of them actually listens to me?

Eileene, Just hang in there, do what you need to do, and you will meet your goals! And hang out here with us to cheer you on and celebrate with you!

Cat, so good to hear from you! You are one busy lady. The Patio paties sound heavenly, and just what you picture with summer in the south. I know the new fountain and lights look lovely? Now I know you have pictures! Comeon, share. How wonderful that your BIL found a job and your sister will be able to move back near you.

Take care, Freda

Hi Freda,

I remember, as a kid, sleeping with my head at the opposite end of my bed in the summer. NOTE: not nearer to any window, just different

Hi . . .

I was in the middle of a nice post much earlier this morning when a really nasty band of thunderstorms whipped through here and I lost it. Oh well, it is now about three hours later and you would think it was a totally different day -- sunny and fairly mild but a little breezy.

So sorry to hear that some of you are still having steamy weather and more of it on the way. LYNN thank goodness only things were damanged by that lightening hit. Hope you can get the A/C fixed quickly.

Nothing exciting on the horizon for me today -- hope to snatch my almost completed quilt out from under the cats and wrestle it through the sewing machine to finish up the quilting process and then I guess I'll fire up the WiiFit for a round or two of my favourite new step-aerobics routine.

Have a great day, everybody . . .

Morning...Great company! They followed most of my rules! Arrived on time and left already....But had 2 dogs, drank all our Jack Daniels so had to go get more and we took them out to dinner. But they did sleep in RV and my house is back to normal already. The rest of our snowbirds should be so easy.

Cat...how wonderful to have your family moving back.

Lynn...hope the storm didn't kill your a/c. We lost ours from power surge during Hurricane Frances. Even with a surge protecter the power company had installed. Luckly we had unplugged a bunch of stuff. This area has so much lightening and the strikes occur miles ahead of the thunderstorms. They blow sirens at the ball games to get the kids off the fields and the sky is cloudless. So glad your family was safe.

Boy am I glad I didn't throw those lovely tomatoes away. The FDA said Fl tomatoes are fine. Had visions of dozens of sick bridge players !!!!!!

Time to get ready to play some bridge. Back to my regular schedule. It'll be nice to have a quiet week. Until I direct next Friday anyway.....hugs, Karen3

Wow, too bad about all those thunderstorms and electrical damage done to appliances. We don't get many thunderstorms and even then most of them are not severe, only occasionally. Our summers are fairly short and most people here don't have AC. Most of us struggle through those few hot weeks with a few fans blowing away. It's still chilly here most nights and we have heat on for mom's sake as she finds even warm days chilly.

I'm still in the middle of confusion with the wall ready to be taken down to install the patio doors. My husband had been doing the work in between school bus runs so it will be dragged out over the course of several days. (School doesn't get out until the last week in June.) In the midst of all this mess I've been trying to cook meals and get ready for a church potluck this weekend. I hope the church members are partial to drywall dust in their chili.

I made a pot of soup in the slow cooker yesterday and I was so mixed up I forgot it was ready for supper and didn't even remember it was there until about 10 o'clock last night. The slow cooker was well hidden in among all the canned fruit on the table. We had the soup for lunch today.

No AC until tomorrow. Guy who was supposed to be here today just called & said he doesn't work on the "through the walls" AC units in our condo.

I think I'll go over to my DD's B&B to sleep tonight.

On the bright side - sure has taken away my appetite.

Anyway eating and exercise feeling more routine and food journaling is the key for me to stay honest with myself.

life pre-ac and the humidity...hot and sticky

Good morning, Lots of things I have to get done today. We leave for vacation tomorrow morning. I'm excited but really dreading the 10 hour drive.

Lynn, I hope you get your air conditioner fixed today. The "no air" is one thing about the good ole days i don't want to relive!

Karen3, Glad you got to enjoy your company.

Isabella, I'm sure the group will enjoy the chili. The drywall dust will be your new secret ing.

Eileene, I'm so glad that the diet is getting easier for you. You're forming new, healthy habits. Journaling is vital for me too. Hope the visit to the Dr. goes well. Just think of the surprise he's going to get when he sees you the next time!!

Make it a good day, Freda

Good morning everyone! This will just be a quick pop in to let everyone know that I'm still hanging in there. I've done my WATP's video a few times since being here but sometimes it is hard to get it in! But at least I've done some! We're enjoying the visit with Tim's Dad and sister. Right now we are waiting to see if Tim's brother is going to be able to come down this weekend from New Hampshire. We'd like to see him too. We will probably start our 3 day trip back to MO. on either Sunday or Monday. We try to watch the weather and see if we can "sneak" through between the storms again.

Hope everyone is having a good day and I'll try to check in later.

Good Morning . . .

We are having a half-sunny and half-cloudy kind of day and it is definitely not hot -- high is only supposed to be in the upper 60's today. Hope things are cooling down for the rest of you.

Oh well, it should be a pleasant day for the weekly 'shopping afternoon' so guess my exercise for the day will be lots of walking.

Have a greaat day everybody . . . see you again soon . . .

I know what you mean about those "looks" I don't want this to come out sounding like I don't love and appreciate her but MIL has a tendency to really play up her aches and pains to get attention when we're out in public. When we're home she scuttles around the house just fine (well, except now with the broken foot) but as soon as we are out somewhere, suddenly her lumbar stenosis is unbearable and she has to lay down to stretch her back out. As soon as she lays down she has all kinds of people hovering asking her if she's OK and looking at us like we've left her locked in the car or something because we continue with whatever we were doing. Of course the payback for the "looks" is that once they ask her if she's OK she replies with a sweet smile "oh yes, I just have to rest because...." then recites each and every little condition and lists all her surgeries (with the dates of each)

Ooh Lynn, how scary! Thank heaven's no one was hurt!

I've been doing really well foodwise but been a real slacker on the exercise front and feeling like a slug. Been using the excuse that I exercise in the guest room (don't have a DVD player in our room - and my Fluidity doesn't fit under our bed) and MIL is staying in there. No more 'scuses! She can park on the couch for and hour.

Have a fabulous day!
