Oh K3, it is a delight to see sun. Post often, I know how much it helps, especially when temptation is right there in the house with you.

Good morning everyone.
Nice cool, cloudy day today. Supposed to stay this way for a couple more days.
Yesterday, I drove about 90 miles to the high desert to watch my grandson's soccer tournament game. The winds were really bad and it was hard to control the ball. The game ended with a 0-0 tie - technically, our team lost so that's the end of that tournament. My son was really upset as the coach never put my grandson into the game and he drove like 150 miles each way to get there. My grandson would probably leave the team except three of his best friends also play and he wants to be with them. He is 15 so probably won't be playing too many more years. He's a tall kid and pretty solid, but doesn't run that fast - but is really knowledgeable about the game.. Chances are that he will coach and ref in upcoming years. He is already rated as a ref, but only in the AYSO games.
We stopped for lunch on the way at a place in Lancaster and I had a very nice chicken salad with viniagrette dressing. After the game was over, a big group of players and parents went to a Mexican fast food place - they had a lovely low-carb taco salad, and I had chicken, some beans, cheese, guacamole and really good, spicy salsa. But apparently it was too much as this morning another pound creeped back on.
The winds were fierce yesterday so forget controlling a ball - or even putting up an umbrella for shade. So today, I am both sunburned and congested. I was going to visit a church today where I used to go until they got a pastor I didn't care for. He has since moved on and they have a new pastor so I thought I would check it out - but not today.
Today is going to be a "chill out" day for me. Gotta get back totally OP and drop this new weight, and start feeling better.
Have a lovely spring day.

That pound is probably just water . . . even though the Mexican was pretty low carb, batcha it wasn't exactly low sodium. Drink extra water today and it will soon be gone again.
Hey -- how come they lost if it was a tie?????

They played two games last week - tied one and lost one. So, as the other team didn't have a loss, they got the win. If it was the championship game, they would have done kickoffs until one team or the other won. But they didn't get that far.
You're right about the sodium. Also, when I don't feel really good, I don't lose. Kind of goes together. So, I should feel better tomorrow, and drop this extra pound or so.
My pup is so glad to have me home today - he gets to run free. He has been bringing me all the little branches and leaves he can find in the yard - tries to chew on them but I take them away and dispose of them. I won't need to rake the yard at the rate he is bringing them in.
Take care.

Good evening all....It was a busy get all the chores done day. Even had time to visit with neighbors. Think I stay as busy as was when working full time.
Have stayed Op all week, but this month have been graphing my Fat, Carbs, and Protiens percentages. I just can't seems to decrease the carb intake. Think carbs hold back my weight loss. Thought it was fruits and juices but watching this graph now it seems like even ww carbs slow me down. I'll track it for the month and then see what I can do. I can't live on South Beach level one for long...yuck! OMG I don't think I have been NOP in weeks maybe even months?????
We are having a 3 days tournament next month and have voluneered to help with snacks. Years ago was half of a hospitality committee for a 7day tournament so 3 days sounds easier. Like every club there are a few worker bees and alot of queens. Be watching to see who's who!
Kathleen....sorry your DGS didn't win the round. Have you spent the day sipping water? That is the best way to detox from sodium. Literally flush it out!
Time to fold last load of wash....Take care of yourself, eat healthy and hugs, Karen3

K3 . . . exactly what do you mean by ww carbs? . . . are you refering to something special to do with Weight Watchers or are you referring to Whole Wheat (and sort of to all whole grains).
While it's certainly true that whole grains are digested much more slowly than refined grains (the white stuff); they can, especially if finely ground/processed (instant oatmeal for example or non-grainy whole wheat breads) or heavily cooked (whole wheat pasta) be digested almost as quickly as the refined stuff. I know, I have to be very careful with all grain-based foods to keep my blood glucose levels from spiking. Most fruits and vegetables are much lower in both the GI and GL ranges and so digest more slowly.
Have a good evening. . .

Big adventure yesterday. My friend and husband and I went out Sat. night and had a great time sitting on the river at a restaurant out on the deck talking and watching boats come in and out for a poker run and our friend invited me out for another trip out in the swamp on the other side from where we went last time to an area that is more swampy than prairie. To get to where we were going, we had to go down a canal for a few miles. A few minutes down the canal, the engine died, but he got it going and again and we got a couple of miles at least down the canal...then it died again. So we decided just to let it "rest" and floated around for about an hour or so while I got some pictures. (I'm trying to get a good shot for a book cover) A little alligator decided to make friends and stayed pretty near the boat and it was really magical out there with the birds making all kinds of weird noises. Tried the engine again later and no go. He finally decided the battary was dead. So we had to paddle all the way back...with one paddle. It was brutally hot (and it hasn't even really gotten hot yet!) I was pouring sweat and I had jeans on that were soaked and all stretched out. But, it was a lot of fun and a really great adventure!!

Good Morning . . .
The sun is sleeping late today . . . I did too, . . . Well, just wanted to say a quick HI -- many things to do and places to go -- this is my last full day before my little trip to Ottawa. I do plan to pop in tomorrow before I leave for the airport, so will see you all then.
Have a great day . . .

Good morning, everyone.
Another nice, overcast day here. Supposed to stay in the upper 70's. I have been a lazy bum and it is so nice to be able to just enjoy the cool weather. It will get hot soon enough.
Yesterday was my kickback day. I didn't feel too hot so I mostly sat and read and snoozed most of the day. I have that new Amazon Kindle electronic book reader and it is perfect for me. I need larger type than they use to print most books with, and with this machine, I can adjust it so it is very comfortable for these tempermental eyes. I am almost done with Clay Aiken's biolgraphy - kind of boring but I will stick with it until I am done. I have about 4 more books downloaded to read, but not today. I also get Reader's Digest and the AP news - kind of fun to have everything in one little package. And because it is easier to read, I finally get engrossed in the book again. Haven't done that for a while. Normally, I read a little and have to put it down as my eyes bother me too much. This is nice.
Today, I need to clean and go mail my unemployment form and some birthday cards - I am almost late with one - I think the birthday is today, but he won't get it for a couple more days. Give him something to anticipate - ha. And I may take my dog and go for a nice walk around the library. I can't walk around my place as everything is uphill to even get to the street, and I'm not up to that yet.
I didn't feel 100% yesterday but today, I think I'm doing better. I put on 1-1/2 lbs from my over-eating on Saturday, but was totally OP yesterday. I just didn't do any exercising at all so it hasn't started coming off yet. But it will. My pup is a lazy guy so he mostly played a little, then napped off and on with me all day. Time for us to get moving.
Have a lovely day.

Back!
Well, I'm back after a weekend of absolute gorging. It was terrible! My sisters and I met at our step-mother's, and she is an incredible cook. I was afraid to get on the scales this morning. I think I'll give myself until Wednesday and then weigh myself. Hopefully by then the damage will be gone.
I also feel like I'm coming down with a cold. I deserve it....I've been bragging all winter about how healthy I have been!
Anyway, I'm back on track and will take a nice long walk after work.
Will post more later...
Betsy

Just wanted to say a quick hi. Spent a lovely weekend in the yard - sprinkled around some grass seed in the thin spots and planted some tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. My mulberry tree actually has fruit on it this year. Gonna have to find out what to do with mulberries
Hope all is well with everyone.

Wow, Cat, that was quite the trip in the swamp. There's a pic of the alligator looking right at the camera that looked as if he knew what you were doing. You really captured his personality in that picture (if gators have personalitites).
Now a little rant: Today I went shopping and found "Laughing Cow" cheese that I keep reading about on 3FC so I decided to by a package. There was no price listed anywhere so I popped it in my cart and when I got to the check out I asked for a price check. Well, I know why the cow is laughing-she's rich. There's only 4 ounces of cheese in one of those circles and it cost me $4.49 for eight little wedges. (I should have my head examined but I wanted to try it out.) I did buy the low fat stuff and yes, it tasted good but the price is outrageous. Do any of you buy "Laughing (Rich) Cow" Cheese and if you do how much do you pay for it?

Howdy Y'll....My new chairs found their way home this morning. OMG when I moved the 2 old ones realized just how stained they had become. Need a slipcover stat! Now have one in the bedroom to curl up with a book. Love it.
Betsy...You have 2 more days. Drink Drink Drink...water that is to get the system washed out. No sure if it flushs you out or the mutli trips to loo burns extra calories??
YoYO....Mulberries equal birds equal polka dot car and laundry! Absloutely ruined the white convertible we once owned!
Isabella....Gators only have three thoughts...Is it Lunch? It's not lunch......And this time of year is it Female?
Cat....I love the pictures with the tree and reflection. They seem timeless. Thank you for sharing.
I grew up knowing every house has a troll...ours seemed to be making scads of extra trash every nite. It isn't possible for just 2 of us to have this much garbage. And then when he's done making trash he pours dust over everything!
Sunset is happening....Take care of yourself, eat healthy and hugs....Karen3
