Morning all! Nice weather right now, but it is supposed to start raining later on today and will rain through tomorrow. So much for going to jazz fest tomorrow. I'd been looking forward to it since last year. Rarely miss a year but don't feel like sitting on the ground in slop. Guess we'll just stay home and work in the yard between showers.
Going to grill some tilapia this afternoon and go to the beauty parlor. Haven't been in a couple of years at least. My hair is so nutty that I usually just put it in a pony tail on top of my head and whack off and inch or two. Want to see if maybe some layers will help tame it a bit. Probably won't, but it will be fun to be pampered for an hour or so. I've NEVER had anyone be able to do anything with it.
Hope everyone has a nice day and a great weekend!

Good morning, everyone.
Another beautiful day here in So. Calif. Temps supposed to get up into the mid 70-s so I won't need an air conditioner for a while.
My tummy not doing too well today. Must have been that artichoke I got at the farmer's market last night - huge and I ate it all with some mayo. Maybe it was too much fat.
The only thing I have to do today is to get my dog some kibble, and take another book that I forgot I have back to the library. I haven't even read any of it yet, but I'll download it into my new Kindle so I will always have it. Good Calories, Bad Calories.
I also need to get my two rose bushes planted. I keep procrastinating but I don't want to lose them as the flowers are so pretty - one is pink and the other one is yellow. It makes my little patch of dirt look so pretty.
More tornados in the middle of the country. No one was killed, thank goodness. I wish them all the best. Weird spring.
Tomorrow, I go watch DGS in his tournament again. If they lose on Saturday, it is all over. Won't have to go up to the high desert again for a few months.

Good morning all
Gotta get off here and get that walk done. Sadly, that weight I lost when I was sick found it's way back to me. So, I have to move my ticker back. But seeing it down there in onderland for that brief second, maybe kind of gave me a nudge to try harder.
I don't know what has been up with me lately ~ I just keep stuffing in the food ~ not even hungry for it sometimes. I've got to stop that.
Hope you all are having a good day.
Take care

Good Morning Golden Gilrs!!
I lost another pound this week. I should have done better if I would have done my walking or the Gazelle everyday like I should have. A new ad came out for our house so I spent most of the days getting everything ready in case we have people call to come and see it. So I actually only walked twice this week plus had a Birthday dinner for one of our grandsons. So guess counting all that I "didn't do" I should be happy with the pound!
Yesterday our weather was "NASTY" Our high temperature only got up to 35 degrees and it snowed off and on all day! Nothing on the ground but it sure makes you feel just plain BLAH!! Today is supposed to be a little warmer but the wind is blowing so bad you still don't want to go out and do anything!
It sounds like everyone is straying pretty busy and doing good. Cat, I finally did get a chance to look at your pictures. I always love it when you share them with us. It is like my "Calgon, Take Me Away" moment!! Thanks so much!
Everybody have a good day. Take care.

Kros, next time you get an artichoke, try it with a little lemon/olive oil/salt/pepper or a vinegarette dressing...light and yummy.

Busy all morning baking and cooking. Tomorrow is my weigh in day and also my special eating day. I've made mac and cheese ready to be baked tomorrow and a chocolate cake. Now, before you stone me for mentioning chocolate cake let me tell you what I did. I made a cake mix up and baked it in 3 8-inch pans. When the cakes were cooled I sliced each layer in half horizontally to make 6 thin layers. I froze 3 of the layers and used the other three to put my cake together. I whipped some topping up and added a drained can of mandarin oranges and a snack size can of drained pineapple tidbits. Then I layered the "cream" and fruit between the layers and added a thin chocolate glaze to the top. Now when I cut the cake into 12 pieces, I'm actually getting 1/24th of a cake instead of 1/12. The whipped topping with the fruit is so much lower in fat and sugar than regular frosting and the chocolate glaze is only a small amount per serving. I'm not diabetic so I don't mind having a little sugar every now and then.
Cat, I hope your hair comes out nice. My SIL is a beautician and does my hair a few times a year. I'm starting to look for a new style as I've had the same one for nearly 2 years. I want something that doesn't make me look my age but not one that makes me look like I'm trying to be a teen-ager.
Karen31, sounds like you got a workout getting the house ready. My oldest son has his house up for sale and every now and then they have a general clean-up because someone is coming to look. And losing a pound is great. Think of it as a pound of margarine!
Our weather has been pretty good sun wise but it's been cool to chilly. My son just left the house to go for a jog and returned within a minute or so to put on more clothes. His words were, "It's freezing out." It looks nice out, though.

Friday Hi!
Hi to everyone....It's Friday....yipee! I'm heading out this weekend with my sisters to go on a home and garden tour that my oldest sister's home is on. We have lots of fun when we get together. I'm taking along my food diary, which I hope keeps me on track. My daughter in WA called last night to say she was having some "weird" contractions, so I went ahead and packed for a week in cold country, just in case I have to fly out right away. I'll be away from my computer for the weekend, so I probably won't be able to check in until Sunday evening. I hope and pray I can make good food choices and get in some exercise this weekend.
Sounds like lots of us are having nice weather. It is supposed to be in the
80s here this weekend. My sweet peas are nearly done...where my daughter lives, they haven't started yet. Crazy!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Betsy

Hiya all and Happy Friday!
WTG Kathleen! ain't success the greatest!
I do love spring! My roses are going great guns with huge blooms, my fruit trees are all aflower making my back yard smell heavenly. I planted some sunflowers a couple of weeks ago and they have sprouted nicely. Can't wait until they flower. Even my cactus in the front yard is blooming! I have one with big yellow flowers that are as pretty as my roses and one with big red flowers.
Only thing dampening my good mood is this blasted economy. My company is no longer going to keep the license on one of the brands we manufacture so there won't be as much work which means I'm going to have to let a couple of people go. I have a hard enough time sending people home early when it's slow - having to lay someone off is going to be sooo hard.
Needless to say, I've been a little preoccupied with things at work so it's a little tough to come posting but I'll try to do a better job of keeping up with the news this month than I did last month.
Still staying OP although, quite honestly, I don't even feel like I'm doing anything special any more - feels like I've been eating this way all my life and keep being pleasantly surprised when the scale just keeps creeping down.
Have a wonderful, healthy day ladies!

Howdy y'all...Well I did it. Went to the China Buffet and didn't make a fool(better known as pig) of myself. Had steamed mussels and crab legs. Few green beans and sherbert for dessert. Way overboard on protein, but under calorie count.... as long as no one looks at sodium levels. You'll find me laying under the tub spigot all night. I adore any thing that someone else makes for me...can make me happy making me pj sandwich. I'm easy!
Boy are we all a group of "Shouldas". Wonder if they are the same as honeydos?
Cat...I broil just about every vegie that I find with squeeze of lemon, drizzle of olive oil and heavy dash of lemon pepper. Half plum tomatoes and stuff with fat free cheese along with vegies.(peppers scallions, mushrooms, squash, radishes, red cooked potato, artichoke, etc if it's in my refrig it goes in) Then toss cooked shrimp or scallops on top....take whole thing to the table and no one noticed that half the time it's a disposable alumium pan. For company add a loaf of bread to suck up the juices.....best thing is pan is tossed and whole meal takes minutes.
Isabella...Had a cake brain storm today. The next time I direct am making the cake and packing the icing to take there. Then nuke the icing and pour over cake. Be so much easier to transport.
Karen...Gosh I hope some one is ready to buy your place this Spring.
Kathleen...Listen to your inner man. I heard him say No mayo!
Gayle...Hunger pangs are occuring because your body doesn't wanna get thin. Think of them as shrinking moments. I usually lie to myself and promise me I'll get a snack in a few minutes...keep extending the few.....well it works sometimes.
Sunset time....Going with a gallon of ice water to the lania...Take care of yourself, eat healthy and hugs....Karen3

Wow, Kathleen, that is terrific!
Getting a bit warmer here but not much yet, thank goodness. It was cloudy most of the day and there is a light rain falling now. I'm hoping it stays that way all weekend, but ... not betting on it.
I was trying to find a way to eat grapefruit that didn't involve the way I used to eat it as a child: cut it in half, loosen the segments, and then dump tons of sugar on it. I ended up peeling the grapefruit and slicing the segments and then mixing them with canned mandarin orange slices. The store where I do most of my shopping only has the oranges in light syrup -- none in fruit juice -- but I drain off the syrup. It'll either be used somewhere else or discarded. The oranges are sweet enough to offset the grapefruit without the empty calories of sugar.
Have a good day, all, and stay healthy!

Good Morning . . .
OMG . . . I think I see the sun . . . a little hard to tell until the fog burns off, could be the beginning of a space invasion, but I'm betting on the sun.
See you all a little later . . .

Happy Saturday.
Of course, when you're retired, one day is about the same as the next.
Nice day today - should get up into the upper 70''s. Yesterday, it got up into the mid-80's, but I was gone most of the afternoon, so it wasn't too bad for me.
Yesterday, I went to an old barbeque place that was just re-opened under new ownership. Had a lovely, huge cobb salad. It was enough for 2 or 3 people, but as I don't do left-overs, I ate the whole thing. I thought I had really done my diet in, but today, I stepped on the scale and am up just .2, which is typical for me. I lose, hit a plateau, bounce around a while, then drop some more. I also stopped to get a lottery ticket - lottery is up to $100 million so I decided to play - and had a diet Dr. Pepper - so good, but it really whets my appetite. So, of course, I got really hungry at dinnertime and just had some chicken. So, I stayed OP, but ate way too much. Today, I should do a lot better.
Going to watch my DGS play the last weekend of his soccer tournament in the high desert. If they lose today, that's it. If not, they come all the way back tomorrow to play their championship game. 16-year olds play a really rough game, and I'm not sure our guys are up to it this time.
My puppy is acting up again. Last night he wouldn't got to bed, and when I tried to take him, he laid down and wouldn't get up. So, I picked him up and he yelped like I was killing him. What a hammy character he is. Just like a kid. Today, he is bouncing around like nothing ever happened.
Have a great day. Hope it is nice and warm for everyone.

Hi all....Just watched the Derby. Must admit I always pick a Big Gray and they usually come in 1st in the next race. After years of tending to the big babies enjoy watching from afar. Try getting out to the barn at dawn dressed in hospital whites(on way to work)to give a 1000lb fool horse a 15cc shot in the neck! My DD actually started riding before she walked. She was aboard a pony at 8 months.
Went to the Stained Glass studio today. Hour drive and they had nothing....absolutely nothing. So stopped at Wally's world and got some smaller drawers. Have been getting big wad of tidy white bunched up at my waist.
Isabelle....you made me giggle thinking I was eloping with a gallon of ice cream. Hmmmm idea sounds good....nah.
Kathleen....How did the game go?
Cat....There are big clouds off in West are you sending us rain? Remember our rainy season doesn't start for a month!
Linda....I'd shrink wrap this sunshine for you if could.
Sunset time.....heading out without anything but a glass of water, take care of yourself, eat healthy and hugs. Karen3
