Good morning ladies...quiet here in sunny Florida.

Today is housecleaning day (how exciting) and we are going out to dinner with friends and then on to gamble a bit. (only an arcade with penny machines...I can't stand to lose more than $5.00....lol)

I found a stir fry chicken/broc./few noodles and sauce on the side that is filling but not high in calories at our favorite place, so that is what I always get now. Leaves calories for the WINE!!!

I have been doing much better with the exercise, food choices and water this week since I am feeling better so I'll be cutting the portion size down and hopefully get back to my ticker in a week or so.

Got to get moving here, we are hoping to show our condo this week-end.

Phyllis

Default Good Morning! - and it is good!

Hi ladies,

My second day back on this site. I think I like it here Yesterday after my exercise session (I'm just getting started so I don't feel right calling it a workout just yet) I was feeling great and very motivated so I decided to jump ahead in my day planner and put in some little motivational notes to get me through those times when I feel like giving up - or get me back on track if I've slacked off. I decided to also use the day planner as my food and exercise log - the idea that I leave it laying around and someone else might see it makes me think twice about putting that cookie in my mouth
I wrote down ideas like using morning shower time as "me" time to focus on keeping the motivation going - great way to start the morning actually visualizing myself as one hot granny! Have a GREAT day.

Good morning! I was MIA yesterday - the light company had to change the pole behind our house, and it didn't go as well as they hoped. But, after 5 hrs, it was done, and I don't think I'll have to be watching it everytime we have a big storm!!

Rosey! I can so identify with what you're going through. It's been a rough couple of weeks for me, too.

Marylynn! I don't listen to country music, but hiring a wino??? I have tears Thanks for the big chuckle this morning!!

Lynn - Am I the only one who doesn't know what you teach?? Or what course you're taking?? Veg out, my friend.

Hey Yoyo! I say anything that motivates you is great!! Now, could you send a little of that my way??

Karen - I've had the bone density, and I'm normal too!! Yea! I think it must be genetic cause my mother, who is 95, has fallen several times and never broken anything. It's a good thing I'm normal, too, cause I don't tolerate calcium supplements....I guess we're all the "incredible shrinking women"!!!

Freda - I tried that "I can only watch it when I'm on the treadmill" and then I decided to hate the program!! Go figure!!

Have a great day all, and keep those heinyas in gear

HI GOLDEN GIRLS last post until we return from Maui. I will miss you all and I promise to do as much working out as possible and good eating while I am away. It shouldn't be too bad there - I do love water activities. And walking should take up a bit of the day - I hope. We are doing one morning of snorkeling - I will report back on our success of snorkeling with Hawaiian sealife (the sharks can stay away -- they already took a chunk of one guy I work with - the odds are on my side I think LOL).

Rosey -- you have every right to sneak away and push out a few tears -- after my husband passed away having a good old bawlfest in the shower was the order of the day for a long time. Best part is you are rehydrating yourself while you let loose with the tears and few people can hear you.

Karen -- glad the density test went well - sorry about the lost inch but I guess that happens to all of us. My mom used to be taller than me - now I have about three inches on her. Then there is my auntie that at her tallest was 4'10" -- now we are not sure - just way shorter.

Freda -- keep enjoying the nice weather. Some of the yoga workout videos have chair workout modifications - would that work for you??

Linda -- glad you are doing well

Marylynn -- stay safe. The Christmas eve party sounds like fun. Love the story about your DH -- just too funny smoking while you exercise -- such a throwback to years ago. Like when the doctors used to tell pregnant women to have a cigarette to feel better

Lynn - I am sure you will do great teaching and learning but watch you aren't burning yourself out.

Phyllis - glad things are going well. I have my fingers crossed that your condo sells!!!!!!!

YoYo - nice meeting you. LOL good idea about leaving the planner around. Heck just knowing I have to record the darn cookie makes me think twice. I remember thinking once I can eat it and not record it -- but who am I fooling only me and only cheating me. So when I am good about recording I do well -- its the whole exercise of being honest with myself.

Deb -- glad all is ok. We will all motivate ourselves -- so I need you all to get busy and send all sorts of vibes to me while I am gone. I am sure I will feel them!!!

Zoe I know you are busy busy busy gal but I miss you to pieces. Lyn hope all is well with you and I will see you all on the 21st - RESET and RENEW - again!!

Wink Friday Musings

Hi Everyone...Happy Friday. Still warm here (for upsate NY) in the 40s but they say snow for Sunday. I'm slowly getting re-motivated after the holiday binge. I am:
1. Writing down what I eat in my excel spreadsheet that calculates WW points....so far am not staying in"the range" but at least now I can see how much is going into my mouth. This has to be good eventually, and will make me think before I eat.
2. Excercising daily - we are having a "Biggest Loser" contest at work and I signed up...one of the prizes is for the most exercise minutes for the next 8 weeks.

Welcome YoYo You do sound very motivated so please share some of your positive attitude here.

JayJay - Oh I'm sure your trip to Mauii will be the best. We'll be thinking of you swimming with the tropical fish. Have a great trip.

Karen - glad the snow wasn't too bad for you - and your bones are healthy. I have to take the weekly Actonel and calcium 3x/day as I am on the borderline for bone loss.

Debbie - glad the pesky pole was fixed and your back with us.

Marilyn - loved the description of your DH on the treadmill. Thanks for the giggle.

Rosie - hope you're being good to yourself. Hang in there.

Lynn - Good luck with the new courses. Hope things settle down.

Freda - Keep lifting those weights. It really does burn calories AND help your figure. Try to be patient.

Phyllis - Happy gambling! Good for you eating sensibly with the stir fry.

Sorry if I missed anyone...

My DH asked me out on a date tonite. We're going to exercise first, then go to dinner and a movie. Not sure what we'll see yet. Then Sunday I got tickets to a local production of Cabaret.

DD2 called and is in NYC writing songs with her BF and singing them in the subway until school starts at the end of the month. Ahh youth.

Have a great weekend GGs.

Lyn

Hi Debbie,

I teach graduate students Educational Research. Most of my students are teachers who want to become Principals. I teach online courses with the University of Phoenix.

I'm taking an undergraduate course at the local community college in Existential Philosophy. I'll be in with college-age Freshmen and Sophomores.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the philosophy course.

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who have been around a long time - remember the problem I had with my friend? We got into an agrument & stopped talking for a while. Well, I just got off the phone with her. Through a series of emails, we got back in touch & are planning to meet for coffee next week. This makes me VERY happy!

I had a cardio analysis done this morning - I will find out my optimum heart rate during cardio exercise to burn fat - not muscle. I'm leaving shortly to see about purchasing a treadmill, or eliptical, or gazelle. I want something portable (need to move it in and out of my living room) with a cardio monitor. I'll let you know what I find.

I'm determined to boost my metabolism so that I can eat 1300-1400 calories a day without gaining weight. So far this month, I've averaged 1302 calories/day and I've gained a pound.

Hope we all have a happy and healthy day,

Lynn

Quickly popping in to say hi...have been swamped with work since the holidays. I also have company (my aunt,87,cousin and sister along with my mother who is already here)...they are coming for 2 weeks. Ought to be fun, but now I'm in a panic to have house/yard ready. I'll probably be even more scarce for the next couple of weeks, but think of you all often.

Another overly busy day -- but I do think it will soon be over -- can't think of any stupid questions they could possibly ask that I haven't already dealt with about ten times. Yeah, I know, famous last words.

See you all soon . . .

OK - I did it. I bough a Pro Form portable (folds up and rolls) Eliptical. They will deliver and assemble it for me.

Maybe I'll be able to up my daily calorie intake a little.

Default Thanks for the lovely welcome

Hi again,

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the lovely warm welcome. I know I'll be back.

JayJay - I am soooo jealous!! Maui is my favorite place. Don't forget to stop at the Pioneer Inn in Lahina for some Portugese sausage - I know, not diet food but skip the potatoes and you can burn it off snorkeling

Lynn - Have fun with that eliptical. I think they are tougher than a Stairmaster. My legs always give out before I can get my heart rate anywhere near where it should be to burn those calories but they are really cool - feels like you're gliding.

Off to spend a relaxing weekend with DH but planning to forego the temptation to veg on the couch and munch
You all have a great one and keep thinking healthy thoughts!! See you all on Monday

Hi Golden Girls,.................Long time, no See! (Due to me)
I'm sorry but went thru late summer, fall and early winter thru H*ll. I'm tring to get my act together again, thank you all for keeping the Golden Girls going. I knew we had a great bunch of gals and I see most of you are all there. A couple of new one, Hi. I'm Bobbi, started this thread with the help of others, most of you know me. I'd like to start participating again now that some of the crisis is over. We are still stressed over MIL, she has dementia (did I spell that right?), she calls us 3 times a day with the same question, where are my credit cards, someone took them. duh! Someone stole my coins in my billfold, she didn't have any credit cards or bills or coins when we moved her in. She doen't believe us! She is driving Bruce and me crazy.
ON to a better note..............how is every one doing with the new year? I don't do resolutions because I only break them after a couple of weeks.
How about you?

Love ya, Bobbi

Lynn-- I hope you enjoy your elliptical. I'm sure you will get a routine down and really get with it. I advertised my elliptical for sale and plan to keep the Gazelle... I like it so much better. It just seems easier on the knees!!
