Default How Many Calories To Lose Weight at 290?

ADVICE NEEDED - How many calories can I eat to lose weight? I want to lose as fast as possible because I feel so bloated and short and breath. I weigh 295 and need to get down to 150. SHOULD I STAY ON A 1200 CALORIE DIET THE WHOLE TIME?

You posted this question in Weight Loss Support also, and I posted a reply over there.

Default Thank you for the comments

I am just now figuring out how to see the responses on this website, ha ha. I am not computer savvy? I think I am actually computer challenged. But, thank you for the suggestions. I have always heard you MUST stay on a 1200 calorie diet, but I am learning more and more from this website that people are losing on much higher calories. I find that AMAZING!!!!

Hi Pat, 12 hundred calories might be ok for a week or so, to get you started, but you probably need more calories for a long term diet. Something you can live with. I know you said before that you didn't like to exercise? That helps a lot. What kind of exercises have you tried?

Click this link:

It will take you to the Calorie Counters forum to a Sticky message that gives you a general idea of where to start with counting your calories. 1200 on average is considered the lowest you should go without a doctor's supervision.

I have tried the Yoga For The Rest of Us and walking. Seems like I am not good with sticking to the gym membership. I really appreciate all the support and knowledge I am getting from everyone! Thank you so much!

I never like to go to the gym either Pat. I couldn't keep up, and the other skinney little things in the class didn't help either. I could just feel them looking at me. Naturally, I know they probably wasn't, but I felt like they were and it made me toatlly crazy. I find that walking is the best exercise for me. I walk outside during the summer and inside, on the treadmill, in the winter. That, along with some weight lifting, keeps me going. I feel so much better when I exercise. I sleep better, lose weight faster. Good luck to you
