Hello all! I'm back, even though I have another window open on my computer with actual *work* on it; such a bore, tho. They are doing an office re-organization around here, and it looks like we all will be relocating. Just to different office spaces on the same floor. There's a new director of development (we haven't had one for almost a year) and they're apparently trying to get our department into some sort of logical space-order. He came to me yesterday morning with a proposed floor plan that had me moving into an office that's more of a cubicle with open spaces about two feet down from the ceilings. I had to throw a tantrum and say, "How am I supposed to WRITE (which is my JOB) if I can't close a door to concentrate????? Sorry, sorry and sorry, but I CAN'T MOVE THERE." later on in the afternoon, the CEO called me up to his (penthouse) office and told me that it had all been taken care of - that I would, in fact, be moving, but lo and behold, to a BIGGER office! I told him I'd call in a decorator as soon as I got back downstairs. I've actually been toying with the idea of bringing in one of my spare oriental rugs to put down in my office, and now that I'm going to have more space, I just might go ahead and do it. (Then I can close my door when I feel like it, and curl up on the rug for a nap).
Moxie! I'm glad you're safe! Those storms are so scary!
Rhododendrons! THAT'S what I couldn't think of! Jeeze it's hard to be old and forgetful! Had you going did I, Theresa???? Kewl.
Lyn - I live in Worcester, MA and work in Boston, which is about a 40 mile drive each way. Most of it is on the Mass Pike. Some days I make it in less than an hour, but there are days when the traffic is backed up, and it takes nearly two hours. I SHOULD pay more attention to my car, but I'm just not the well-organized, responsible type, I guess. SOME things I'm responsible about, but things I don't understand - like cars and computers - I just use until they stop dead on me. Good luck with your inspection, by the way.
Please don't say it snowed again last night, Karen! I'm getting ready to send the St. Bernards out to you with a keg of rum attached to their collars. And speaking of canines, how are your *babies* faring with all that nasty (but very pretty) snow?
Paula, I'm sure you're right about the fit of the clothes being a better indicator than the scale. But, I think we're still programmed, somehow, to want to see something concrete that tells us we're actually losing weight, and that's what the scale is supposed to do, isn't it? Crummy, unreliable things! Sometimes it seems like we'd be better off if we just threw the things out. But we wouldn't be, of course. When I'm GAINING weight, I don't go anywhere near the scale, yanno? I think I need it to keep me on track even if it disappoints me sometimes.
Hiya Joanne...hope all's well with you. That article was nice. There is some good in the world, eh?
Supposed to hit 80 degrees here today. Yipee!!!! Now if it would just STAY around 80 and not creep up into the 90's...and if the HUMIDITY would stay away...(I'm one of those people who is NEVER happy with the weather...
Bobbi, I am absolutely LOVING your recipes! Yum and double-yum! Thanks!
TTFN,
Ella

Hi everyone....we are back from our week-end trip and had a wonderful wonderful get away.
The hotel had a ghost tour, a REAL paranormal investaging team. We even had little hand held meters to look for enery! Mine only went up one time but we didn't see anything....EXCEPT in our room the first night about 10:30 p.m. for no reason my purse fell over on the floor and my drivers license fell out and then on the day we left I looked to see what time it was and my watch was behind 1 1/2 hrs.!!!!!! It was keeping perfect time before and it still is So anyway I am a believer now.
I gained 1.5 lbs. over the week-end but have lost that as of today, Tues. The last two weeks I have walked 12 miles and started again yesterday with the 1 mile dvd. Thinking about doing the 2 mile every other day now.
LOVE all the pictures you all are posting......I will try to see if I can post some soon.
We leave again in 2 wks. for our motor trip up north to see all the kids and grandkids so I need to get busy losing as much as I can. Great motivation!!!
Phyllis

Phyllis- Welcome back. MY girls LOVE ghost hunts. They've been to the Mansfield Prison a couple times and are going back again this year. My youngest swears there was something following her. My oldest watches all the ghost hunt shows on TV. She even has the grandkids hooked. You know just because you didn't see anything doesn't mean there wasn't anything there. We did a tour of the Queen Mary when we were in CA. We didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. My youngest in going to go check it out when she's on vacation in a couple months.
Congrats on losing the weight you gained. I love when that happens.

Morning to all the GOLDEN GIRLS!!! LOL I always feel like the caboose to this group but what the heck its the way the sun travels and nothing we can do about it.
Last night was quite tough at bootcamp. Our regular instructor was celebrating her son's birthday and the owner of the bootcamp filled in. I just knew from the second I saw him standing there I wasn't going to like him LOL. There has always been this older lady helping out with everything and I found out last night she is his mother. After one grueling event I walked past her and said "I will not hold it against you that you gave birth to him!!" She laughed at me. I do love eating right and I am getting used to this more and more each day.
Lyn - Hi and good luck with the OSHA today
Ella - can only repeat that its the clothes and inches more than the weight. And with the biking you are gaining muscle and you know the old muscle weighs more than fat thing. Actually there is a great picture here on the site of 5 pounds of fat and 5 pounds of muscle -- two thirds the size.
Theresa - you are quite welcome
Paula - hoping your dad improves soon
Phyllis - welcome back and glad you are home safe from all the ghosts LOL. I have been a believer for a long time.
On to a great day everyone!!!

Hi Everyone,
I took my first horseback riding lesson today. It really is just like riding a bicycle - it all comes back. The only difference is that now I get a lot more tired (as I am sure, does the horse)
Yesterday I was really sick. Went to the doctors & he put me on diabetes meds - the sickness was unrelated to the diabetes. Feel much better today.
I am down 1 lb, but I'll wait until tomorrow to move my ticker - could just be from the fact that I didn't eat yesterday.
Hope everyone is having a healthy and happy day - I'll be back later to read everyone's posts from yesterday and today.
Lynn

Hi Karen, I can't believe the snow!
Hi Paula, watch that sun! Since my skin cancer scare (2 melanomas but did not spread), I cover up everything I can when I go out.
Hi Theresa, I think I did my first communion as a 1st grader. With this one, the average age seemed to be around 12-15. Must be different in the Hispanic community.
Hi Moxie, Sorry to hear about the flooding. Glad the tornadoes avoided you.
Hi Bobbi, I think you should have named this thread something related to gardening! Everyone except me seems to be a gardener. My SIL is the gardener in our family. I give him any plants that anyone gives to me before I kill them - accidentally of course.
Hi Ella, I'm with you - too easy to gain & too hard to lose. When we get to be King of the World, let's make it the other way around!
Hi Joanne, Tell George that the horse lived through it!
Hi Lyn, showers/parties/events are really difficult. VERY few folks have a variety of foods that we can eat. Carbs and Fat seem to be on every menu.
Have to run & eat dinner before AI begins. Tonight is my favorite TV night - first AI and then, House.
Take care,
Lynn

good Evening,
Yes, Paula,
it is beautiful here in Ohio. sunny and 75.
I could not ask for a nicer day.
Karen,
I am soooo. sore.
My new Ab-Lounge really does work.
thanks for the heads up Karen. I love it.
I am only to about 150 a day.
You do 400!
go girl!
I hope I can get to that number some day.
Phyllis
You trip sounds fun! I would love to do that. I think I will have to look up local haunts.
Paula, Is the Mansfield prison still around?
that’s close enough for us to do.
Do you know of any others in N.e. Ohio?
We had a Ghost once. My hubby and Daughter actually both had seen her.
It was a ghost lady that looked just like me!
Boy I can tell you… I did NOT want to see that.
I guess it could be a g.g. grandparent or something. When we bought this house, they only saw her one more time.
Lynn
I am glad you feel better today. good luck with your meds. You will do well with them, because you are watching your health already.
Well I really have to get out side. its just so nice out.

Good evening all! Wow, you ladies are so busy it makes me want to get up and get moving--you are all great motivation when I'm feeling lazy. I think I'm starting to settle into healthier eating patterns, I'm more comfortable with my portion sizes and feel satisfied after meals. Now I just have to make sure I don't get too confident and sabotage myself! Onward!

Good Morning Girls!
Yesterday after our Fitness session I picked up flowers for my granny's grave and got those planted. It was so beautiful out, DH mowed the lawn and I planted more annuals. We had our first meal of fresh Asparagus yesterday, We don't freeze it either. Just totally pig out on it the short time it grows.
Paula... You asked if anyone does SQ. Ft. gardening. What is it? One year we planted our garden in square plots instead of rows, is that what you're talking about? If it is, it's too hard to pick the green beans, lettuce, snap peas. (Or anything you have to pick daily.) It worked great for beets, carrots, stuff you harvest in the fall.
Lyn... I see we have two Lyn/Lynn's. Hope your OSHA review went well yesterday.
Ella...

Phyllis... You sure do take lots of mini vacations, good for you. Everyone asked me if we'd be taking more vacations once DH retired. I am the biggest homebody and hate being away from home. I don't even sign up for trips/prizes at our local grocery store, I'm afraid I might win!
JayJay... I meant to ask you something about your boot camp. Is it every night, how long? How long does the camp last, a month? What's the pace like, how hard are you pushed? I wish we had something like that around here!
Lynn... Congrats on the 1 lb loss. I have a favorite T.V. nite too, Thursday nights. Survivor and CSI. Love them.
Theresa... I love to hear ghost stories, can you expand on your DH/DD stories, both times they saw the lady? Anybody with ghost stories, please share!
Thriftywife... Oh What's in a name! I'm curious about you name, how thrify are you?
My real name isn't Bobbi but that's what my grandkids call me, they had so many grandmothers and to shorten and end the confusion they call me Bobbi which means grandmother in Czechoslovakian. (DH's nationality, I'm a full blooded Dane)
Have a great day everyone!

G'morning, all. Wednesday already. Wow. Time just keeps on marching on, eh? Well, Bobbi, to open another window, just click on "start" down in your left-hand corner, and then you can click on any program you want to open...it'll come up on your screen, but the one you've already got open will stay open. You'll see it down at the bottom of your screen, and you can click on it whenever you want to bring it up. Just click back & forth...and if you want to, you can open other windows as well, just by going back to start. You can even open a second internet connection if you want to. Hope that helps.
Bobbi: I am the biggest homebody and hate being away from home. I don't even sign up for trips/prizes at our local grocery store, I'm afraid I might win
I'm really glad to know that I'm not the ONLY one who would just as soon stay home! I absolutely hate the packing, unpacking, living out of suitcases, etc. And I LOVE being able to just spend a day at home, doing whatever I please. I guess I'm going to HAVE to take a trip out to L.A. before the year is over - my son has been asking us to come - but thank God the rest of my kids live close by. DH studied art in Europe as a young man, and wants to go back within the next few years - I imagine it'll be nice to see, but once you've seen it..
Bobbie: I love to hear ghost stories, can you expand on your DH/DD stories, both times they saw the lady? Anybody with ghost stories, please share!
Oh, I do too! And I have some doozies! I'll write about them from work. I have to get ready, now.
Have a T-riffic day, y'all!!!

What a beautiful day yesterday. We ended up sleeping with the window open last night and I didn't get the least bit cold. We have an appointment today to get en estimate for a new furnace and air conditioning.
My eating was pretty good yesterday. I got my walk in too. Actually I got 1 & 1/2 walks in. My daughter asked if she could use my car today so I took it to her last night and I walked back home. I didn't play in the dirt yesterday though. I went grocery shopping instead. Today I have to sew so I can get my special orders in the mail. We might go after Ron gets home from work and get the stuff to start my garden. My plants are crying to be put in their square.
My dad is still in the hospital. They don't know yet what is wrong with him. He said he was having flu like symptoms. I hope to know more today. At 85 and having a pace maker you can't take chances. They were going to do some heart tests on him. They have him in intensive care so they can monitor him more closely.
Joanne- You poor thing... Boot Camp sounds too tough for me.
Lynn- Glad to hear your lesson went well. How's the rear-end today?
: Here's to the pound still being gone today with some added pounds mixed in.
So far I only have a little sun on my neck. I was just a little pink and it was tan the next day. I'm not staying out that long at a time. Funny how we used to be able to lay out for hours when we were young and now we burn as soon as we walk out the door almost. Gotta love Global Warming.
What did you think of American Idol last night? I found it hard to find someone I really wanted to vote for.
Theresa- Yep, the prison is still there. They give tours all the time. My daughters do the overnight hunt. You can stay as long as you like and wander where you want. No lights at the prison so they have to take their own flashlights. Do a search on it if you want more info.
There was a ghost in my daughters old house. The previous owner had committed suicide in the bathtub. My daughter had a strange feeling about the house when she first went to the open house. We thought he had done it in the bedroom, but she kept saying there was something odd in the bathroom. We later learned that is where it happened. When we were fixing up the house before she moved in the tools kept coming up missing. She always put them on the kitchen counter. They needed a hammer and they looked everywhere for it. They looked on the counter and in all the rooms. They went out to the garage and still couldn't find it. When they came back in the house the hammer was right on the edge of the counter ready to fall off. My grand daughter used to talk to someone in the closet. She would shut the door and put a box in front of it. One day I asked her why she did that. She said she didn't want him to get out. STRANGE. My grandson said he saw someone at nights in his room. Anytime anything would come up missing we would tell Ronald to quit messing around. We would end up finding what we were looking for right where we had left it. She lived across the street from me. I swear I think he comes over here to visit too. When I can't find something that I know was right here I call him by name and tell him to go home. I usually find what I'm looking for right where I was looking.
Bobbi- I'm going to plant asparagus this year. I hear you can't harvest it until the 3rd year. I think I'm going to plant it in the backyard by the fence. I don't want to put it in my Sq Ft garden since it is a perennial. I bet it is really yummy fresh picked.
Yes, Sq Ft gardening is where you plant in a foot square. You plant the plants evenly apart depending what you are planting. I'm going to give it try and see if I like it. If I don't I can go back to the other way again. My gardens were originally horseshoe pits. When we bought the house I turned them into gardens. One used to be a sandbox for the kids, but last year I planted my beans in that box. This year I'm going to plant veggies in Sq Ft in both gardens.
OK, I have to get my breakfast and then get my shower.

Glad to see most every one here likes ghost stories......I am interested now for sure. We will do another trip with the same people in Oct. when we are in Orlando.
Yes, Bobbi we do travel a lot since we retired last year. In Florida there are so many places to visit within a few hours drive and my son stays with out dog so it works out great right now.
Lynn, glad your feeling better...you can get off the diabetic meds, let that be your motivation. Hope the pound stays off. I bet your rear-end and thighs were sore from riding! As I said I use to own a horse and rode everyday but I know if I did it now I wouldn't be able to walk the next day...lol
Theresa, please tell us your ghost stories.....I'm driving my husband crazy talking about it now. Been looking paranormal investagating up on line and there are tons of sites, really interesting.
Paula, I will look up the prison....how fun would that be to be able to just roam around. I think that might be scary!!! We will be in Ohio in about 2 weeks (Cinni area) I will have to look up and see if there are places there.
You should go with your kids sometime.....
Karen, when do you leave on your trip? I love your snow photos, it is already HOT here in Florida and will stay that way until Oct. I really do miss the Fall season, usually we try to take a trip up north when the leaves turn.
Will try and catch up on more of the posts, don't mean to miss anyone.

I just can't wait until we're done this afternoon. Thsi stress has nlot been good for my diet. I just ate a bagel with cream cheese and had chips and cookies yesterday. Also went home and had big glass of wine while soaking in the tub (Ahhh..) Well, back to the grind...

Hi Girls,
Luv reading your posts.
I only have 2 TV favs. That is survivor ( I luv Yow Man) and AI, I like Jordin and Melinda. The Bee Gee's song are very difficult to do and I was not real impressed with any last nite. I think Jordin did the best. I am about tired of Blake and his beep da beeps. (he is good at it but enough.......)
Anyone love to read? I love mysteries and who done its and love stories . Just finished "The judge and jury" by Patterson. It was a can't put me downer.
My hobby is my flowers. I dont know much about them but just love growing them. I have 3 beautiful mandevilla vines (1 pink and 2 red). They do great in the south.
We have 2 new pets living on our front porch. I have a large grape vine wreath and 2 birds now have a home there. They have not built a nest, they just come to sleep there every eve. Just as soon as the sun starts going down, they come in and stay there until sunrise. WE can go out on the front porch and walk right by them and they do not move. I have evem turned the porch light on and they do not fly away. When I got home from work last night (11 pm) I walked up to them and said "excuse me" and went in the house. They just looked at me. It is sooooo funny. My DH thinks they are swallows. I dont know birds but I dont care what kind they are , they are cute and we are having fun with it.
I work for Damon's ribs , oceanfront, at Myrtle Beach. (type in Damon's ribs, Myrtle Beach , if you would like to see). This restaurant is the 3rd busiest in their chain. It is non stop all the time. The next 10 days in the Harley Rally and you talk about busy. WHEW!!!! I can get tired just thinking about it. About a half million bikers come to the beach. Most of the folks that ride Harley's are older and alot of women (go girl's) But that is not for me. They have a great time and spend alot o money here. I started waiting tables about 20 yrs ago so that I could be with our son in the day and DH at night. It has worked out well and the $$ are good, and I can work part time. There are alot of Senior citizens that live here that work part time waiting tables.
Gotta go do something constructive. My Maid doesnt come in today, so I guess I will have to do everything.
Have a great day, YA'LL, Rose:

Hi Rose...yes I love to read too. Am reading The Buffalo Soldier (Bohjalian) right now for our book club that was started at work. It's about a foster kid in VT living with a family who lost twin daughters 2 years before. Very good, lots of family drama. I'll have to look up the one you mentioned.
I loved reading about the birds in your grapevine wreath. Never heard of such a thing before.
My favorite tv shows are Greys Anatomy, the Office, and Friday night Lights. (I'm in love with the coach).
They just brought lunch in for us, and I had a cookie. Will have to walk it off later!
