Talking Tuesday's Daily Thread - Aguust 7, 2001

Morning girls!
Thought I'd get the thread rolling before I knuckle down to some work. Even though we got all the copy through early yesterday, art haven't got the pages done so i've got time to post - hooray!
Hope you all had a good weekend and work is going well (or as well as it can go!).
Sarah - do let us know if they pick you for a success story! i kept meaning to fill mine in but didn't feel i could until i'd been at goal for a while. now that i have i don't want to fill it in cos of my new TV job! anyhow, i promised Lolly i'd wait for her and we can do it together.
Oh, the good news is I can finally get all my clothes in my wardrobe (with space for more - shopping alert!). I threw out 3 big bags last night, full of shoes and clothes i never wore. and i got rid of stacks of old magazines i knew i wouldn't read again. boy, it felt good! maybe this year i'll clear out all my old school books and such like from my room at my parent's house (i'm so bad, i've left boxes of stuff there for 2 years at least!).
Rightyho. Work has arrived so I'll get on with it and post more later! Hello to all the new girls - good to have you on board!
Love Kirsty

Default only the once

i've only been a bridesmaid once - chief bridesmaid for my older sister. the dresses were actually quite nice, sort of terracotta colour, quite a simple style, tightish under the bust and then just loose. empire line i think you call it?
if i get married i've got 4 bridesmaids lined up! it's going to look quite weird cos 3 of them are fairly short with dark hair, and then there is my sis who is tall but with dark hair. and then me, tall with blonde hair. at least i'll stand out!

It won't let me vote in the poll! But since I've never been a bridesmaid, it prob doesn't matter

Helloooo kirsty and everyone else who's about to post. Ooh, success stories, that's what I need to hear, I have been totally off program for the last few weeks, and although the damage doesn't seem to be too great, I def need to turn it around now before it gets any worse. Off to Galicia tomorrow, till Sunday, and I will be wined and dined and fed wonderful things as a guest of the town of Ribadeo, which will be fab but def not conducive to getting back OP Blokey and I are recommitting as of Monday, psyching ourselves up for it, and we're prob going to follow the Powerboost first week program again, to get us started. And I'm going to take up Tae Kwon Do (I want to be Buffy !) I'm actually quite excited about it ...

Any of you watching the athletics from Edmonton at the mo? I LOVE athletics - we got a gold last night (Jonathan Edwards in the triple jump) YIPPEE!!!

Hunter - hello and welcome. How was WI?

Kirsty - I'm not having any bridesmaids, just my sister as a helper/attendant/bossy person. She's scarily organised, and she is VERY excited about sorting out the weddinglist, etc. She will def keep me on track - she is the List Queen

Tonya - was it your SIL's wedding this weekend? Or is it next weekend? WHichever, I hope it's a wonderful day. And Stacey - will you post wedding photos when you get some?

Ok, better go - Blokey is building a bookshelf and I should go and look useful

hugs,
Lxxx

Default Good Morning!

Welcome back everyone!
I voted bridesmaid once b/c of my sis's wedding last year. Then my wedding exactly one month ago today! Jeepers! Whooda thunk?
Lolly: DH and I are pricing scanners and as soon as we get it set up, I'm def scanning piccies!!
I am definitely going to WI tonight, too! As much as I'm dreading standing on that scale, I must face the facts! I can't pretend to be on WW but eat like I've been eating! My boss brought in homemade, made this morning, fried apple pies. I don't even like fried stuff, but I ate a whole one! Not a whole pie like you buy at the store, but like a turnover. Still, it was greasy and now I'm mad at myself for eating it!
I guess I should get back to work now.
I'll be back on later.

Hey everyone.... I am really trying to get on track. Did OK yesterday. The heat here is unbelievable. We are braeking records. Sadie and I went on a walk this morning and the air was so full of humidity, our hair was wet (not from sweat) when we were done! Emma is hanging in there like a trooper!

Oh... we went to the in laws last night... Hubs sis and fiance showed up... wouldn't even say HI... nothing... then they left. GOD, I feel like I am in HS. I am 29... she is 22. Big maturity difference. Hubby is 25 1/2 (3 1/2 years between us). It is driving me NUTS!!!!! I did look on the plus side... no planning a wedding I won't enjoy anyway.

UGGHHHHHHH

I have been a bridesmaid for 2 weddings an usher that had to wear an UGLY bridesmaid dress for one, and a reader/personal attendant for one. So I have 4 dresses!

Lolly... consider yourseld lucky for not being in a wedding... less money! 4 dress are not cheap, plus the travel expenses, gifts, etc! It is way too costly!

Stacey... I like baked apples. Sorry the fried wasn't worth it. I do that too! Forget about it and keep on counting! You can do it!

Kirsty... you should def. submit your story! I think you look great and you kept it off this long! AND you drink beer!

Hey hey to everyone else! More later I'm sure!

Default I'm stressed!

I've been a bridesmaid twice (I'm not counting when I was a flower girl for my uncle when I was 10) — for my cousin about 5 years ago and for one of my best friends 2 years ago. The dress my cousin picked out was horrible. It was teal, first of all, shiny, and with a BOW ON THE BUTT! Yuck! It had lace on the sleeves and fake pearls across the back and was the most unflattering thing ever. She picked it out of a catalog, didn't have any of her bridemaids try it on, so we didn't know they ran small. I wore a size 12 at the time, but it didn't fit so I had to have it altered. I had to have shoes dyed to match this monstronsity and they stained my feet teal, even with wearing hose! The dress I wore for my friend's wedding was gorgeous, though. She picked out the color — a light green, and we got to chose the style we wanted. So, my sister made my dress. It was sleeveless and very pretty.

And now ... why I'm stressed.

Yesterday was my scheduled procedure for the cervical dysplasia. Well, my doctor couldn't do it because the speculum, a larger size than is needed for a pap smear, was just too painful for me. So I have to have the procedure done in the OR with anesthesia. I suppose in a way this is better — I'll be asleep and not even have to deal with discomfort, but I wanted this over with. I'm already nervous because my first abnormal pap showed up about 4 years ago but I moved soon after, and my new doctor had to start the whole "test, watch, send me to a specialist routine" all over again. I didn't sleep at all last night and I just feel really anxious and ****, scared to death. I don't want to be at work. Yesterday, I stayed home even though I didn't have the procedure because I keep getting emotional. My b/f is being wonderful, assuring me we're in this together and that he's there for me. But I've always been a worrier and I think I'm going to worry until I have a normal pap smear.

Oh, and I know I've been eating, because I'm worried, and who knows what the scale will say. Right now, it seems like the least of my worries! I did go to gym last night to try and relax. I hoped the Pilates class would help, and it did at first, but then I didn't sleep.

Sorry to be such a downer today!

Good morning all!

I've been a bridesmaid twice and a matron of honor once. The dresses were all very nice actually. Except for the maid-of-honor dress... Well, that one has a story. I was the only attendant in the wedding so I was able to pick out whatever I wanted. I had picked out this FABULOUS navy blue dress... it was gorgeous (and I was at goal so I looked hot!) Anyway, by the time the wedding rolled around I was 5 months preggo and got stuck wearing a pink maternity mu-mu instead. Blech. That navy dress is still sitting in my closet waiting for an occasion to wear it and the figure to fit into it again!

I am doing just GREAT on program. I'm soooooooooooo proud of myself. This makes day 6 on program. It's a record for me these days! I bought a treadmill over the weekend but I haven't used it yet. Can't seem to motivate myself just yet. I'm cutting myself some slack though. If I can keep the eating under control I will be happy. I can add the exercise slowly, and the treadmill will be there waiting for me when I'm ready.

Hi everyone! Gotta run, too much work as usual.

Kim, honey it's totally understandable to be worried. Telling you not to worry isn't going to help, is it? My best advice would be to schedule the procedure asap so that you can get it over with and have some answers.

In the meantime, console yourself with the many ladies that have posted here about having the same procedure with good outcomes, and distract yourself by keeping busy.

HUGS

Janet

Default Hi all! Never a bridesmaid...

but I have been a bride . Best day of my life so far. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was super busy. I'm using my lunch time to post now. My weekend was good and I paid for it all of Saturday! Me and some of my girl friends went out on the town to the bar district and partied until 3 a.m. I had a great time but I am feeling to old to do that very often. I did get a couple of looks from guys which was fun. One of my friends was following me out of a bar and I heard her yell at this one guy "Hey eyes off buddy, shes married!". It made me laugh.

anyway ~ Janet ~ Way to stay OP! That is awesome. I am jealous of the treadmill. My folks have one and I love visiting. They put it near the TV so you can watch while you walk. Have fun!

Kim ~ So sorry about your stresses. {{HUGS}}. I hope it all turns out OK for you and I'll say a little prayer for ya.

JenL ~ Good job on walking! Humidity is aweful. When I lived in Houston the humidity was the worst. I am thankful that Austin is a little dryer. Its still hot, but at least my hair isn't frizzing out. Sorry about the SIL difficulties. I hope my BIL marries the girl he's dating now. She is so sweet and fun. I don't think I could handle a Bi**h. I am not the most patient person sometimes.

Kirsty ~ I did a cleansing like that befor I got married. I had to make room for the hubby and some of his things (he moved into my apartment). I ended up tossing 5 huge bags to Goodwill (a charity)! It feels good doesn't it?

Lolly ~ Its ok to take a vacation from program. I do it all the time. The places you are going sound so interesting! Have fun!

Well I gotta run! I'll check in later. Hi to everyone!

Just a quick hello to everyone. I am working at home but have gotten easily distracted all day. I just don't feel like working., I have been watching Baby Story and Wedding Story, which doesn't help. I am such a sap and I cry every time!!!

I have been a bridesmaid, a maid of honor, a matron on honor and a bride! Of course, my favorite dress was my wedding dress! None of my bridemaids dresses were that bad, they are actually all pretty similar in style, empire waist (or no waist), Aline with straps. 2 were blue and one was black with white trim.

Ok I have been eating too much again. I didn't count up yesterday yet but I think i was around 30 points and I am at 12 or 13 for the day so far. I need to get back on track!!! (Way to go Janet!!)

Ok, must go. I want to work (on and off) until 4:30 and then go to the gym. A friend is coming for dinner and we will have leftovers from last night (Tons of grilled food!) DH left for Canada this morning, I will see him again on Friday in Buffalo! Have a great day all! Talk to you tomorrow!

Sarah... don't let Baby Story fool you! They skip lots of things. I watched it all the time when I was PG, drove hubby nuts! Now when we watch it, we critique people, it's more fun watching after you have been through it! Also, I watched Maternity Ward... that one is much more graphic. And I used to cry all the time after the baby was born. Hubby finally made me stop watching them because I was too emotional. Ohhh the hormones!

I ate 1/2 bag of mini carrots... And don't feel bad because at least it wasn't chips. I have 2 hours left! It is soooo blast hot here. At lunch we went out and bought diapers and formula and a new nook because Sadie chewed up one of hers. I felt like I was in a sauna... it is horrible!

Hope everyone else is A-OK! Can't wait to get home to my central air... I work in an old building on the 3rd floor... the AC is not good up here because the lower floors crank it up so we get barely anything... and windows don't open. And 2 of my walls are pretty much solid window. I have a HUGE box fan in my door today, I found it in the supply room before someone else did!
