Hi all!

Just wanted to check in before heading out to the grocery store. I had promised myself that I would do it before noon when it was a bit cooler, but you can see that that thought went right out the window.

Judy: "The pointer puppy is all grown up physically( Mentally she has a longggg way to go.)" Sounds like many MEN I know!!!

Lilion: The book will be in the mail in the morning. *I'm glad that you and hubby recommited to the Y. At least now you'll be putting your money to work for you.

Iwillbe: I have an extra "Getting Started" brochure from the "Winning Points" WW program I would be happy to send you. As far as a "points finder" you can walk into any WW office and just tell them you need to buy a replacement. Up here they're $2.00. There is tons of WW information here in the WW section and there is lots and lots on Dotti's site. If you need the web address just let me know.

BarbG: I hope you'll have some answers on your mom's condition ASAP. Make sure you take care of yourself as well. Staying the night with mom AND working too is going to be rough. [[[hugs]]] coming your way.

Leanne: Insurance companies rule the world! Unfortuneately! How many times have you heard that people who need care cannot get it because they either have no insurance or have insurance that doesn't cover it. I hope to find time real soon to search the web for some info.

Terri: Time to go back to the basics. I know it's hot outside, but a big pot of cabbage or taco soup is a great help to get through the "hungries" for those first weeks.

Kim: Ooooo, ooooo, recipes. Load up that Recipe Thread we've got sitting here. I'm sure we'll all be happy to see some new varieties. *It's so great that you got your son AND the neighbor kids into walking. It's not only good company for you, but you're building good habits in them. Congrats.

Ok, girls, off to do the grocery thing and get some much needed fruits and veggies. I also hope to have the energy to get some color on my hair this afternoon. I was sitting across from Honey the other day at dinner and he was staring at my head. I said, "yeah, I know, I need a dye job". He looked at me and asked "can I introduce you to Rooty". Yeah, hahaha, funny.

Talk to you later. Love ya bunches!

Thanks Thin for the new thread. We might let it go more than 30 posts if it gets to moving too fast. Sometimes the threads got to moving too fast to keep up. But we'll just see how it goes. Thanks for taking the time! How did the grocery shopping go?

I have fresh strawberries and cherries that I had for a snack this afternoon. Heavenly!!! Wow, have I missed fresh fruit.

Since DH started his business at the end of May, we have barely had groceries in the house. Not that we don't have money; just that it has been such a job keeping food supplies on hand for his business and having time to actually cook. We have really been wanting to get back to our normal good eating, but neither could muster the energy to go to the store. Especially when I have been spending so many nights out at the horses. It was wonderful to have breakfast here at the house and to take my own lunch for a change. Amazing how far out of our routine and for how long we had strayed.

I got my hair cut and highlighted tonight. Looks much better.

The dog bones came today so Bear is happily distracted from thinking he needs to walk. This humidity is too much. But he's gotten into the bad habit of chewing my stuff up in the middle of the night if he's not walked enough. He's ruined two bras, chewed buttons off a Tommy Hilfager shirt, chewed the zipper off a pair of pants, combs, gotten into the trash, etc. Things he's never done before and he's 4. Its because he's pissed and bored. So I have to be careful about where I throw my clothes. We have a laundry shoot so I'd throw my stuff down by the bed until the morning. Guess not anymore!

Hey, new smilies that I hadn't seen before. This is what I should be doing each morning but I've been too much.

Have a good evening! Oh hey, WOO Love that new one!

Evenin' Ladies,

(I love this guy.)

It hasn't been the best day foodwise. Tomorrow's another day. Since they closed the cafeteria at work it's been junk or no lunch. I need to try to bring someting ... anything .... for lunch but I can't seem to get it ready the night before so I end up with the office snacks to buy for lunch. We only get a half hr. and it's a 15 min. walk from my desk to my car so I can't scoot out and pick up a sub or salad either.

I'm still doing my stretches and it is helping my legs.

Off to watch the Tour rider climb that last hill on this stage.

Oh my gosh, Terri, you HAVE been gone from the site for awhile. Those smilies have been around for a bit.

Judy: Half hour lunches SUCK! That's what I used to get when I worked a "real" job at the supermarket. I think that contributes to weight and mental health problems as well. Employees should be able to leave the work environment for lunch so that they can de-stress and rejuvenate themselves for the rest of the work day. Ok done. Have you seen/tried the individual tuna salads and seafood salads? I think they're from Bumble Bee. They have a little can with the salad in it and then a foil wrapped package of crackers (6, I think) with a little plastic spoon even. They're usually found in the tuna aisle of the grocery. You have to read the labels because they do have one version that is not made with a lite or fat free mayo, but the ones that are mixed right are like 2-3 WW points per package. They're great because they don't need to be refrigerated so they would keep in your desk drawer.

Grocery shopping went well although I was MELTING!!! I managed one store and then came home and cooled off before going to the second. I got a seedless watermelon, a couple of cantelopes, a couple bags of salad and a bag of cherries. Oh my are they good!

I have also come to the conclusion that we are eating out far too much! Not just for the nutritional aspects, but the $$$ too. Alot of it is jobs, but we have seriously been eating out alot without it being a job and that gets really costly. I'll stick with job eating, but we're going to cut out all of the "extra" eating out that we do.

Unfortuneately, I'm still into quick and easy so I picked up some Lean Cuisine Skillet Meals and some other brand as well. I made selections that were under 200 per serving and low in fat grams as well. And of course I have to pick the ones that don't have broccoli in them because I have two picky icky eaters here that won't touch the stuff.

All in all I did pretty well. Some low fat snacks for the boys (well, ok, and me too ) and some meal choices as well. The first store I went to I just had some refrigerator stuff and pantry items so I came home and put that all away. The second store was big time frozen so I timed it so that the "baby" would be home to lug all that stuff downstairs for me. That worked out real well.

Well, Honey is watching some dumb show (Overhaulin') on TV which forced me back into my office. But I think I'm going to head upstairs and lay in bed. Tonight I'm freezing, go figure! I guess I have discovered that my thermostat is truly broken.

Take care all. Talk to you later. Love ya bunches!

Hi everyone,

Think great job at the store. Isn't it great when you have a whole load of new, healthy treats? I love coming home from the store with my fresh fruit. I too like convenient foods. I discovered the Schwan's man in March. It's made having dinner much easier.

Judy, hey, if it's a 15 minute walk to your car each day you work, then you have a half an hour of exercise every day. That's great. I park right in front of my building and get no exercise from it. That's great for you.

Terri, my dog chews things when he's bored (i.e. when I'm at work). He once got ahold of my abuterol and nearly killed himself. He even had to go stay at the doggie hospital (think oodles of $$$ here).

Here a join a new thread and I go on vacation. I will be out of town from tomorrow to July 31st. I'm going on an Alaskan Cruise - my first. I am so excited!!!!! So I won't be posting for awhile. I will read up on all of the posts when I return.

Also, I didn't notice it load any faster than Vol1 today. Maybe 30 is a little short.

Oooh, I am so jealous of that Alaskan cruise. Have a fabo time, Marie! Tell us all about it and post pics if you can when you get back.

to everyone else!!! Make it a good OP day! Today begins my normal challenge of eating on the weekend. Dr. Phil would say to rewrite your script so that it isn't the same old excuse for overeating. My vow is that I will make the next three days of the weekend days where I am completely within my point allotment without using flex points.

Default I'm Back and It's Back!

Hey "Old" Chicks! You know I mean that with Love!!! I'm so happy to have this new thread for the old-timers and new-timers that feel good here! I just got lost in the big group - and in myself for a while.

Apparently it's been quite some time since I've been here because I didn't know we had new smiles either! Love 'em!

I don't yet fit the over 40 group --- I turned 35 this June. However, I do fit the "old timer" tag - having been around for a couple years now. After losing nearly 50 pounds, then beginning infertility treatments, then losing my mom and deciding to adopt...basically a rough couple years....the weight has come back....now so have I!!! This morning I got up - faced the scale and then got on the treadmill then made a bowl of oatmeal .

I will not let this weight control me - I am going to control my body and emotions and regain my healthly lifestyle! I am going to be a mommy soon and I want to be a healthy mommy!!! By the way...for those following our adoption story...all the papers were mailed yesterday!!! Now we are waiting for INS approval and a match with a baby. We are currently 1st on the list for a boy and 3rd for a girl. Once we get the match it will still be another 5-6 months before we bring him/her home.

The food journal is coming back out....the fridge and pantry will be overhauled this weekend with healthy & fresh food and the exercise is back!!!

Ok - enough rambling!

I'm not going to attempt personals right now since I am supposed to be working. I'll do my best to keep up!

I want to be accountable to myself and to you guys -- I know it works for me!!!

Love Ya'll!!! So happy to be back!

Greetings Dear Ladies!

Just came in from my WI and didn't show a loss. Well, that is I might have lost 1/2 lb., but I'm not bothering to count it. Can't change the tracker with 1/2 lb. I'm surprized, because my bathroom scales weighed me at 275 last night before bed, and it usually weighs at least a lb. more than the Dr. scale. Thought it would be a little lower today. But, on the other hand, in the last week we've eaten at Ryan's, Red Lobster, our local pizza place and had a JUMBO tub of buttered popcorn. So I think I'll consider maintaining a victory!

I don't have time for individual replies today, but I'll hit a few highlites:

J-Ann: Do you have a microwave at work? We try to cook a big enough dinner for left-overs the next day. We take them right from the stove and put them into plastic containers before we even eat. Also stops us from overeating, cause the left-over servings are already packed away.

BarbPA: Yea! The pitter patter of little feet! Congratulations! You are soon in for a real adventure. Good for you!

Well, later ladies, must get busy, busy now. Have a happy, healthy OP day!!!

LILION: To be honest I try NOT to cook. I'm single and lucky enough to live with very good friends, one of whom is a true whiz in the kitchen. Of course asking her to "go easy" on some things doesn't always work and on those nights I settle for leftovers or Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, etc. The only time I go near the stove is if they go away for more than a week and then I need directions!

The big problem is I'm lazy! I hate to take anything to work so I "forget" to pack a lunch. Sometimes I even pack it, then leave it home because I forgot I made it the night before. This goes for frozen dinners or something I put together. Before I changed work locations I was in a small office, with a big fridge. I'd get 5 frozen dinners, some frozen snacks, juice, etc. on Sat. and take it directly to the office rather than take it home. Now I'm in a huge building with a gazillion people (some of whom think the tiny freezer in the fridge is a "For Free" zone) and a small fridge. There's no place to put a weeks worth of food so I can't stock up. It's a great excuse to eat junk.

I'm at work so I have to get back to it.

I'm at work also, but wanted to pop in and say hi! Did my water aerobics class last night and then for some reason I decided to go ahead and mow the lawn! Took me over an hour - heat advisory and I decided to mow the lawn! Oh well, it's exercise and now my lawn's the nicest one on the block (okay, could be because I'm the only one insane enough to mow in this heat!!). Have WI tomorrow morning - we'll see.

I have also gotten into the fresh fruit mode and have been having watermelon (YUM!) and fresh pineapple mixed with fresh strawberries. So tasty! Have also been doing a lot of crockpot and grill - NO OVEN!!

Will try to sit down this weekend and load up some of my favorite recipes on the thread. Hope to have some extra time to make personal posts.

Have a great weekend ladies! - Kim

Hi all! I'm back from the casino. Mom had two FREE dinner coupons that were sent for her birthday and she asked if I wanted to go with her. We had a nice afternoon together.

Had my quarterly Dr. appointment this morning. It was one of the best appointments I've had in a long time. Made a list of questions and she really took her time with me. She's really great, I like that I can talk to her. I was down 4.2 pounds since the last time I saw her. Well, on the one hand, being DOWN was a plus, the fact that it was only 4 pounds in 4 months was a bit pathetic. Oh well, onward and downward. :

Judy: "I try NOT to cook." THAT IS ME!!!! Unfortuneately, in order to lose this poundage I have decided that I NEED to cook.....at least some of the time. It sounds like one of the major habits you need to change is taking something with you for lunch. "if you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got." Ok, done talking.

Marie: The Alaskan cruise will be so much fun. My cousins just got back and they had an absolutely wonderful time. They also did a land tour. Are you going to do that as well? They did the land first and then the cruise. They said they were happy they did it in that order because the land was really a whirlwind tour and then the cruise was more relaxing to finish up their vacation.

Terri: I'm glad to see your re-commitment. Now keep to your personal promise this weekend because the only one you cheat is yourself.

BarbPA: I'm happy the paperwork and prelimenary "inspections" are done for your new little bundle. Now you just have to wait. You could be a pretty skinny chickie in 6 months if you put your mind to it. We can both do this if we'll just keep the eye on the prize.

Lilion: Sorry you were disappointed about weighing in this morning. I was actually pretty surprised at mine. I got on the scale at home this morning, on purpose, to see how it compared to the Dr. scale. It was 1.2 pounds lower than the Dr.'s. I figure that was pretty accurate, going from naked to clothed.

Kim: WOW, you were certainly a glutton for punishment doing the lawn in this heat. I've been melting just going to and from my car for all my jobs in this heat! YIKES!

Honey's on the way home so I guess I should go and find something for dinner. I'm thinking pulled chicken sandwiches.....easy, quick, very little cooking!

See you all later. Love ya bunches!

Default Hens everywhere!

Hello ladies,

Terri: Thanks for notifying about the new thread. I can't guarantee that I will be around much, but I wanted to at least pop in and say hi.

I am not 40 (36 in a few weeks), but I have been around the site for over 5 years. I am not really very motivated right now, and thankfully maintaining and not gaining. I am slated to have gallbladder surgery on Thursday and am hoping for a quick and uneventful surgery and recovery. I am also hoping to use my 2 weeks off from work to do some soul searching and get my butt back in gear.

Hello to everyone and have a great weekend.

Happy Satruday Night Ladies!

Wow, the old hens get quiet on the weekend.

We've had a normal, do-nothing kinda weekend so far. Went to the Y last night and got trained to use all the equiptment. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 10 min warm up and cool down on the treadmill was a piece of cake. I remember hating that with a passion last time I worked out. The machines were ok, with the exception of the horrific bench press - I have NO uppoer body strength, had to do it with only 20 lbs. I had the weight guy - (who was an extremely nice man, older than me, with fabulous muscles - I may be on a diet, but I can still look at the candy! ) show me extra exercises for my triceps. I'm soooo tired of nasty, ugly, saggy arms. I also found watching DH work out quite pleasant. I just love watching him use those leg machines...He has such great legs.

All in all, I think I'm going to like the Y. Lots of muscles to look at while I work on firming up a few of my own!

I'm feeling quite piggy at the moment. Made chicken and veggie fajitas for dinner and ate way too much. But since I'd had nothing since my late breakfast at 11 I was really hungry. Still, I'm probably at about 20 pts for the day, so I'm way under!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Take care all.
Onward and Downward!

Lilion it's Sunday morning here and I am contemplating yet another new start! The last few days have been a bit of a disaster and I have weighin on Tuesday Good on you for going to exercise. I liked it last year at the gym, learning to use all the weight machines, and I found a real difference after a short time (as I am sure you will too). Unfortunately my gym got really busy and I found I couldn't get in there at any of the times when it wasn't packed ... so I haven't gone back this year.

Susie, hope your surgery goes really well. After my gallbladder surgery I seriously felt like a new woman, with a lot more energy and just feeling a lot healthier in myself, so maybe this will be the new start on losing you need. All the best for it and your soulsearching!

Thin, how great that you have a doctor that will take her time with you, and not hassle you about losing weight. Doctors like that are few and far between!

Kim, you go girl! hehe ... mowing the lawn after your water aerobics class. Do you have sore muscles today?? And you made me want to go buy some fresh fruit even though its been quite cold here and I have been craving "comfort" foods.

BarbPA you sound so motivated and fired up to go! What an exciting time this is for you - preparing for your new addition! And you have 6 months to become a fit mummy, because after that you will be running around after a little one

There should be a law against working on a Sunday, but I have some lesson plans/slides to do so I better go. Have a great Saturday night/Sunday,

Leanne
