Default Dieting w/ ADD (& fibro): bright, impulsive, intuitive, creative, chaotic even flaky

I have a master's degree in psychology and in three months, retrained in computer programming. I'm not stupid, but have been accused of having no common sense. I tend to act impulsively and have severe short term memory problems. The fibro worsens the confusion (fibro fog) and I just read an article linking fibro and ADD (supposedly the same area of the brain and same neurotransmitters are affected). The challenge for dieting and changing eating habits is my complete intolerance for boredom. Monotony means sudden death for any habit changes I try to implement.

Anyone out there identify. How do you keep it fun and interesting.

Boy, can I ever relate! I'm still looking for tips myself, but there's one thing that's helped keep me aware so far. Very often, I'll get myself to try to eat something I've never eaten before. I can't quite explain it, but for some reason, eating something brand new keeps me aware of how much I'm eating, and I don't overeat as a result.

Where did you read that article? It sounds very interesting.

http://www.add-fibromyalgia.com/

is the website. It does reference some research linking the two, but there's not much else out there, so even though it makes sense to me, I don't know how seriously to take it. I've read the Adult ADD books, and I definitely fit the description to a T, but I don't really want another "diagnosis" or more meds. At least I feel less crazy, knowing there are other people like me.

I think my shopping has been too routine. I used to try to find new varieties of fruit or veggie every time I went to the grocery store, but lately have been buying the same old stuff.
