Tummy tuck with lipo
Hi Dreams - I had a tummy tuck with lipo in December. I have bikini cut line where I was tucked and the lipo was done when i was open so I don't have lipo incisions. I don't think I can help you with info about that type of scarring. What I can say is your scarring will be dependent upon your skin color, skin type, where the incisions are made, etc. Look at other scars on your body and how they healed.
The cost of surgery is all realative - I saw 4 surgeons for estimates and consultations and there was up to a $5000 difference between the lowest and the highest. The cost is most likely going to be all on you - I am not aware of insurance covering elective cosmetic surgery. Except in the case of a by-pass surgery - some insurances will cover all or part of the cost of a tummy tuck with lipo after success with the bypass. As for payment, we made a deposit and paid for the surgery on a credit card.
Discuss the idea with your physician - you will need a referral and some medical documentation regarding your health and well being from him/her even though it is elective surgery - if your surgeon is reputable.
Get as many consultations as you need to make an informed decision. Many surgeons offer free consultations. Most have photo albums and thank you notes available - Read the notes and recommendations. You are going to be overwhelmed with lots of information presented in different forms (brochures, handouts, video, and fast talk). Type up a list of questions that are personal to you and ask the same questions of each so you can compare their answers.
Search the internet on "plastic surgery forums" and you will find a few great ones where you can direct feedback from women who have had similar surgeries and get ideas or lists of questions you want to ask.. I can't remember the one I used but it helped me locate surgeons in my area that were reputable and provided me with the information I needed to ask the right and necessary questions. When we made our decision on the surgeon, I was totally clear he was the one. He was straight with me about what to expect, what he could and could not guarantee, and the women of his staff were outstanding in caring for me and my husband.
Good luck!
