Default Whole wheat pasta for menu excitement???

My husband and I have been dieting about 7 months now, but things are getting dull. We are both trying to eat healthier- and that includes not turning our noses up to new and strange sounding foods. We’ve been generally the “meat and potatoes” type eaters, but we’ve been discussing how to incorporate whole wheat pasta into our otherwise unexciting menu. Can anyone suggest anything... recipes, brands, other alternatives? Whole wheat just doesn't taste the same as good ole pasta...

Here's a good one. With a good recipe I can't even tell the difference between white pasta and WW. I made a beef stroganoff that was really good also, I will try and dig that one up tonight when I get home.

Creamy Italian Chicken

1 pkg boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 (8oz) pkg. FF cream cheese
1 can low fat Cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can Chicken broth
1/2 can white wine
1 package powdered italian dressing
Whole wheat pasta

brown chicken in pam, mix other ingredients and add to chicken. Simmer 20 minutes. Serve over whole wheat pasta (we used angel hair)

i love whole wheat pasta tossed with a tad of olive oil, some chopped garlic, sauteed mushrooms and a chicken breast. You can add or remove what you choose, sometimes i will put tomatoes, brocooli or onions in the mix. sprinkle with a bit of parm cheese and its so yummy..

The New York Times food section today had an article where they rated the taste of a whole bunch of whole grain pastas by brand.

This may not be the popular opinion, lol, but....

I tried so hard to like whole wheat pasta, but wasn't successful. I know a lot of people that do love it, but just not me, lol. I decided not to fight it and stick with regular pasta. The glycemic index isn't an issue for me. Whole grains of course contain more nutrients so they are better for you. But, I think as long as you follow a balanced diet and get whole grains from enough sources, that some refined wheat isn't going to hurt. The new USDA guidelines suggest getting at least half of your intake from whole grains, and the rest from refined grains. If you eat a lot of pasta and don't consume whole grains from other sources, then whole wheat pasta would be a better option.
