Smile First weigh-in since beginning WW

Hi, everyone,

I wanted to report my first weigh-in since starting WW points (1 week ago). I am doing WW at home on my own. Anyhow, I lost 2 pounds! I was wondering what you guys think of that loss. I was hoping for more on the first week---water loss, etc....but maybe because I was eating pretty healthily already, it was a smaller loss?? I tend to worry because I am taking some medicine that can cause weight gain, and I am not sure I can lose weight successfully. So by my thinking, if it was only 2 pounds the first week, what if I just break even from how on... I know, it sounds weird, but I am so determined to lose the weight, and WW finally seems to be the right choice for me, what if I can't lose?? But I have been doing really well staying within my points and dealing with things without eating. I feel very strong. Like this is it, after a year of trying my own way, this is IT. Anyhow, is 2 pounds a good loss for the first week? Thanks, guys. Take care.

Two pounds is a great loss. And if you do find yourself saying the same mayber you should talk to your doctor to see what your options are. I would not worry about that until it acually happens. Keep up the good work.

Good for you!! Two pounds is great and right on schedule - a safe loss that is more likely to stay gone for good than a quick loss of mostly water (I've attended more WW meetings than most and know the pep talk!) You'll be getting a 5lb. star by the end of the month and your first 10lb. ribbon before you know it. By the time summer rolls around you'll have stars galore and will, most likely, have received your 25lb. fridge magnet to hold those ribbons. Believe me, you can do it! Aren't you excited?!

WTG Kathy. 2 pounds is a great loss, I agree. Sounds like you are well on your way to being a "big loser"

I know it's frustrating when the pounds don't go flying off (as much as we all wish they would), but slower is healthier and easier to maintain, so don't get discouraged! Better to lose 2 pounds a week and keep it off than to lose 10 pounds a week and gain it all back plus some!!

Thank you so much, guys. I feel better after seeing your comments. I guess 2 pounds is great, and I shouldn't worry into the future. Thank you, again.

Congrats on the 2 lbs! On my first diet, oh so many years ago , when I was eating 1200 calories/day, I saw something like a 10lb loss the first week. Now that I've done it a few times, and I use higher calories (right now 1600 to 1800), a 2lb loss the first week would be what I would see. I think how I ate before starting a diet, ie how much water weight I might have, made a difference too. Glad to hear you found a program you like.

Kathy

I'm exactly the same as you - I always lose weight really slowly and never have the big losses that others have at the beginning. It can be very disheartening, especially when others are losing 5 or 6 lb in the first few weeks. When i was a member of WW, another girl joined on the same day as me - she was half my size, but lost 14 lb in a month, where I had only reached 5lb!! I ended up leaving because all the comparisons were getting me down!

I too am on medication and I believe this slows down my weight loss - I've just had to accept that the weight is not going to drop off quickly with me, but I can't let it stop me from trying my hardest! Hopefully you'll continue to lose 2lb per week and it will soon all add up.

Keep at it hon!

Love Amanda x

Thanks so much. Amanda, your words helped me so much. It helped me realize I am not alone, and that I CAN do this, no matter what the challenges. Just hearing from someone who is kind of in the same situation is such an inspiration. Thanks, again. And you keep going, too!
