Default Canada might ban/severly limit trans fat

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...46/?hub=Health

This would completely change the face of our grocery stores. Luckily I think most of the food I eat is trans fat free (asides from my occassional peanut butter or chocolate indulgence).

Cheers!

I think this is great. (Buy the peanuts only stuff that you need to stir up if you want pb without the transfat). It would probably be better for me diet-wise if Voortman's didn't already have a huge line of transfat free cookies, even including an oreo imitation.

We've been avoiding eating transfats at home as much as possible for quite a while now. Only natural nut butters and non-hydrogenated margarines, for example, and transfat free crackers and cookies for the kids. But I'd love to see some sort of limit placed that would make restaurant food healthier, and make choosing snack foods easier in the grocery stores.

All it's likely to mean though, is that tropical oils make a return. They were replaced by hydrogenated oils in the 80s because of the saturated fat in them. Now "experts" are saying that trans fats are even worse than saturated, so I'm sure tropical oils will make a comeback.
