Unhappy Plateau Problem

I haven't posted in a while but always check in! Have a problem though - seem to be in a rut! I cannot get out of it. I have been at the same weight for the last 2 weeks. And this week I gained 1/4 pound! How can I get past this plateau? What do you recommend I do? I am in phase 2 and have been doing it for about a month now. Just seems that I cannot reach my little goal of losing 2 pounds to reach 20-pound loss? Help Me!!!!!

Buckie, tell us a little more... are you exercising? What are you eating? Do you want to write out a menu for a typical day for you? We'll assess you.
Anything is possible... too many calories/too few calories/too much sodium/etc. You probably just need a little bump in the right direction.

I don't exercise at all - that I know is one problem. Here is a general daily meal for me:

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
1 cup coffee with 1% milk & sweetener

Lunch: 1 cup homemade chili with turkey (no salt added)
1 small roll
1 sf/ff pudding

Supper: 1 pork chop (lean)
1 cup broccoli
sometimes ½ cup potatoes

Snack: 1 glass diet pop

Or another day is:

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
1 cup coffee with 1% milk & sweetener

Lunch: 1 can tuna with fat free mayo
1 cup raw cauliflower
1 sf/ff pudding

Supper: 1 chicken breast
1 cup potatoes
1 tbsp fat free sour cream
1 cup green beans

Snack: 1 glass of diet pop

Usually I get about 3 to 4 14oz glasses of water in a day also!

Hope this helps!!!

You probably could use some extra water. 42 - 56 ounces seems a little low. What type of potatoes are you eating? I believe that sweet potatoes are the only type that we are allowed - especially on a regular basis.

What type of roll was it? Was it 100% whole wheat (whole grain) with lots of fiber?

I use my snacks as ways to get lots of extra vegetables into my diet. You menu has vegetables but it seems to me like you need more.

What sweetener do you use in your coffee?

I think you are suppossed to aim for 4.5 cups of veggies per day (1/2 cup at breakfast (V8 or tomato juice counts), 2 cups at lunch (think big salad), 2 cups at dinner (steamed, roasted etc..)) you are WAY behind on the veggies for sure.

Also, like the others mentioned, white potatoes are a non-no and try only having one high carb food (roll or potato) per day - even only alternate days.

You should also try for 2 snacks and dessert each day - eating every 3 hours will keep your blood sugars balanced and get rid of hunger.

Increase your water and I bet you will see a change!

Best of luck

Yup... like the girls said, more veggies and water.
You could try slipping in a little exercise, too.
Here's a quote from our fair Suzanne...

I'm sure most of us could stand to convert a little fat into muscle.
