Interesting! I take what I read on that website with a grain of salt...they are a bit odd in their thinking and often are inflammatory in what they write, but have some interesting perspectives. She often notes only one source for her information...that is likely unreliable unless the research has been done again...especially when the source she quotes is over 20 years old.

For instance, though any teacher or parent will agree that sugar causes hyperactivity in children, any doctor or medical person I've asked has always told me that there is no medical evidence of this. Interesting!

I do agree, though, that sugar is a major problem...especially in the quantities we typically ingest!

Beachgal - you took the words right out of my mouth.

I had to reread the one that stated that sugar leads to alcoholism - huh? Ok

That was some list! I agree with some of it, but when I got to the part about decreasing growth hormone, it didn't sound right. I am 5'7"...not exactly tiny for a woman. When I stopped growing up, I started growing out. Nope, growth is not a problem for this chickie.

Laurie--Yeah, I was thinking the same thing....a lot of those seemed kind of outrageous! But I thought it was interesting, anyway!

There may not be medical proof about sugar and hyperactivity but i do know that if my DD has toooo much sugar like a pack of skittles she is wired for sound! My children do not consume alot of sugary things like cokes and candy and when she does she is a live wire for sure! It is not as bad since she is getting older but I can still tell.
