Default Weight Vs. Clothes Size

I have a friend who weighs 139-140 pounds and she can fit into a size 4 or squeeze into a 2 but it is ridiculously tight. But I saw a lady on a Weight Watchers commercial who is the same height as my friend (5'6") who is 156 pounds and she is said to be a size 8.

I weigh 270 and I wear a Lane Bryant 18/20 but mostly 18. Sometimes a 16 stretch. But at Old Navy I have to wear 18 stretch and 20 regular. I saw on TV a lady who is 245 pounds who says she wears a size 24. That is crazy to me. By the way I am 5'5" tall.

Anyone else notice this???

I'm 5'10, and I guess Im pear shaped. I just started fitting into size 16s at Old Navy. It all really depends on your body shape, and the if you exercise or not.

I'm 5 foot nothing and weigh 242 lbs.. I am in a size 22. Man, I can't wait to start dieting again!! I would be thrilled by a size 18!! I am mostly in that size because of my butt - I have to buy pants with elastic waste because my weight is very small compared to my butts and hips. I think that's why I can still wear my regular clothes and I'm half way through this pregnancy - My waist is now the size it should be for my butt!

Dana - I work in retail and get tons of people who come in with your body shape, and none of our clothes fit them last year.. and THIS year? They changed the styles because now they all do! It's great, because they are walking out the door with tons of pants, and it makes me feel good to help someone who can never find pants, find a selection of pants. I just had to share that.. heh.

i'm 5'3" on a good day and wear about a 22-24 in pants. if they are stretch i can wear a 12/14 in some styles but 18 in other styles. its really strange. even at my lowest WW weight of 248 i still couldn't fit into a regular size 22 old navy.

tops are another story. i have ridiculously huge boobs for my body and i still wear a 26/28 top or 3X. there are *some* 22, 24 and 2X i can fit into though.

when i was thin (about 125-130 lbs) i was in a 7 and 9. but i could paint on a pair of size 5, i just wouldn't be able to breathe. LOL

I'm 5'8, 225, and size 18. I can squeeze into a lot of 16s, but squeezing is never flattering, so I don't do it (anymore! haha.) At my lowest weight, 160, I wore a pretty loose 12, sometimes a 10.

dana - our bodies sound a lot a like!

I've heard that Old Navy is going to re-do their plus size clothes, which is GOOD! I don't know if it's just me, but I find their 20's just fit weird! I find the GAP has decent pants, when I'm about 225, and a size 18 at most stores, I can get into GAP size 16 stretch jeans. Dunno why, and they length is always good on them too

yeah, you're right!

old navy jeans are just weird. The 20s sagged on me, even at my highest weight (which i suspect was more than 245, but don't know for sure), and 18s were just too tight. The cut also isn't so great, they do that low-rise thing and that's not always flattering, especially if you have bulge around the waistline!

I tend to buy cheap clothes that come in XXL type sizes rather than numbers. I hate facing those numbers if I don't have to. Right now I am about a 24 though. I have a big butt and belly, all the weight is on the bottom I think.

I am 5'7", about 215 or less and I just got into 18's. I can still wear 20's without them falling off at all.

Last year when I lost weight I was around 215 and fitting into 16's easy. Makes me mad that it isn't like that this time.

jen- most of my clothes are XXL or XXXL rather than numbers too. for some reason the clothes that come in sizes like XXL or XXXL and not numbers are more comfortable. LOL

jennasmom-- my body is the same way. after i had my daughter it just went wacky. the clothes i was wearing at a certain weight before her are no where close to fitting even if i'm close to the weight i was when i wore them before. ... did that even make sense. ??

I'm 5'6" and barely over 300 lbs. Most of my clothes are from Lane Bryant so that is the reference for my size. I wear a size 24 pant (which is the biggest part of me, between my stomach and my butt) and I can wear 18/20 tops although I still wear a few of my size 26 pants (loosely) and size 20/24 tops (loosely as well). If I wear different brands, I can fit into some weird sizes like 22 pants or 14/16 top.

I am 5'9" and weigh 182, and I wear sz. 12 in Old Navy jeans, and a sz. 14 in Gap khaki pants. With Lands End tops, which I wear a lot, I wear either an L or an M, with other tops, either an L or an XL. I lift weights, exercise daily, and I think that's tightened up my body a bit.

that is so wierd how people could be the same weight but they wear different sizes. Honestly I guess I really have to focus on inches instead of weight. My main thing is being able to look and feel good in my clothes. I am a clothes horse!!!
