Default sugar free preserves - phase 1?

i thought i remember reading somewhere (and now i can't find it) about being able to eat sugar free preserves, but i don't remember if it's ok for phase 1 or not, considering the no fruit rule. i bought some sugar free strawberry preserves today because they were on sale...but when can i eat them, if at all?

thanks in advance.

Yeah I think even though it is sugar free it is still not allowed because there are natural sugars in fruit. You have to save it for phase 2. Sorry

Ellis, you are so forboding!

Actually, I just looked in the GF,GC book and he says to avoid "fruit spreads, 100% fruit". That's a shame! I bet it is because of the reduction in fiber and nutrients when you make jam.

I like jam!

Nope, not at all. The GF,GC book lists all the foods as they would be in general. Hard to describe, but basically he is saying that even in Phase 3, you should avoid the jam. However, he says we should take the way our body responds to the food in consideration, and go by that more than by the rules. So try it in Phase 2 if you want. See if you continue to lose, and if not, maybe save it for a Phase 3 sometimes treat.

Oh, crap! I thought we could have it on Phase II! I thought it would be like eating an apple or something!

This does look a little nasty, doesn't it. Sorry, I was in a rush.

In Phase II, wouldn't fruit mashed with some Splenda give the same kick?
