Never heard of it, but I can imagine what it consists of.

Personally, there's NO WAY I could live on BABY FOOD for more than maybe 10 minutes. Bleeecch.

I'm sure it would WORK, just because the portions are so tiny and eating pureed peas or what have you would get old very quickly, so you wouldn't WANT to eat much, so your caloric intake would plummet (of course, you're probably BOUND to binge after a few days on this 'diet'). But I can't imagine being, say, at work and eating a jar of Gerber's for lunch. Yuk yuk yuk!!!

IMO...just another gimmick...

Took some real noodlehead to think up this one. Why in God's name would you want to live on baby food unless you have no teeth. Besides, think of how much baby food is nowadays and how much a grown person would have to put into themselves unless you starve yourself. I guess I thought I had heard it all but guess not!

What kind of details are you looking for, newmama?

BTW, 32 pounds since January and a new baby ... that's not bad work!

I have to agree that you have done wonderfully losing 32 pounds since January...a healthy rate of loss is 1/2 to 2 pounds per week, and you are right on target with that.

It is perfectly normal for your weight loss to slow once you have lost a great deal, and are getting closer to where you need to be. Sometimes the last 5-20 pounds (depending on the person) take FOREVER it seems like to come off.

The baby food diet would work only because you would be:
~eating less calories
~eating teeny portions
~you would be avoiding "junk" since baby food mainly consists of fruits, veggies, pureed oatmeal, etc. I personally haven't seen any jars of Gerber pureed Twinkies or Beech-Nut strained Doritos.

You can do this same thing, without eating the actual baby food. Watch your calorie intake and portion sizes-and eat WHOLE foods like whole grains, lean protein, fruit, and vegetables.

There is no magic at all with the baby food...it is purely a gimmick, and a pretty gross one at that.

There is one reason why I wouldn't even consider such a plan... it stops any and all questions and inquiries.

There is no way.... NO WAAY that I could live this way not for two days... and certainly not for the rest of my life... I plan to have a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng happy healthy maintenance with foods and exercise I enjoy.

I didn't even feed my kids baby food from jars. There is no way I'd eat it myself.

wait... let me add

I have a theory about why so many American children and adults hate vegetables.

1. They were not exposed to eating it like they were exposed to processed junk.

2.. More importantly many who were exposed were given this bland puree. My mother in law taught me how to make delicious baby food with a mill. Yes, I did eat this with my babies.

I don't even give baby food to my baby!

Other than that, I all I can really say is, "Listen to Aphil; she knows her stuff."
