Talking Steel Magnolias -- #17

Good Evening, Flowers!
It's been a cold day in the neighborhood today . . . 45 degrees was as warm as it got! The sun played hide and seek with the clouds and we got about a dozen rain drops late this afternoon. Such strange weather we are having!

I've spent a lazy day just putzing around, doing laundry, reading the Sunday paper, went with DH to get MIL's "old" car and the boat out of storage. We went to Wal Mart late this afternoon -- the only place to shop for some things so had no choice. Not much else is going on in my corner of the world.

Maggie -- Sorry to hear about the migraine . . . I hope you got a good night's sleep after being up so late the night before!

I'm going to see if there is anything on TV and pick up the kitchen for the last time tonight. Tomorrow is the beginning of another week -- have a good one!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Arrow Sunday Evening

SO LONG for a few days. We are leaving for the coast tomorrow and will probably be back Wednesday in the evening. Take care and be safe and I will type at you when we return.

Good morning Magnolias! Hope all is well with you!

Maggie: Hope you are having a grand time on your trip! I hear Calf is liable to have some real problems with fire this year. Hopefully, you are not in an area where you will have to worry.

Jean: When do you get out of school for the year? I know the seniors graduate I think this week here and the kids are out next week. UGH! I dread it because the little brats that live around here are so undisciplined and misbehave so badly, throwing their trash everywhere etc while they are outside.

I am tackling the filing cabinet today, BIG UGH! We are moving it upstairs so not only do I need to unload it, but go through it and sort and throw away. What fun! We unloaded the china hutch yesterday and dragged all that stuff upstairs. Now to try and get the cabinet itself up the stairs. I told Jack we should turn it over, put it on its top and slide it up the stairs upside down! This is wasting time I should be working so I am going to go.

Good Evening, Flowers!
Just peeking in to say, "good night" before I head off to bed. We went to Sioux City right after school this afternoon. We met Jason, Amanda, and Ian for supper; it is Amanda's birthday today. Ian provided the entertainment for everyone around us -- he was darned good and sat in his chair; was happy as long as the food was in front of him.

Maggie -- I hope you are having an enjoyable trip!

"Gma" -- Our seniors get out the 19th at noon and graduation isn't until the 30th. That gives plenty of time to those who still have projects/homework to finish up. The "incomplete" seniors have to return to school after their rehearsal on the 19th. The underclassmen are finished with classes on the 26th at noon. Then we have final exams that afternoon, the 27th, 28th, and a makeup time on June 1st. Teachers check out on the 2nd. Why are you moving your china hutch upstairs . . . is upstairs where your bedrooms are or are you talking upstairs from the basement? I'm confused!

I am off to bed! Have a wonderful Wednesday, Flowers!

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It's a cool, dreary day but, after working on the computer for the last two days...fixing a virus, I am a happy camper! I am on line! No Virus!!!
Yesterday I first called HP since I am still covered under the new computer policy. The gentleman tried to help and then told me he could if I paid $40 for the fix. Since I didn't know what else to do I agreed. He only got so far and then I couldn't get on the 'net' so he suggested I call my ISP and have them get me on the net and then back to him for the rest. Would you believe that the ISP which is also our local electric co. said they had a CD they would give me to correct the problem....no charge. Of course, I immediately went back to HP...I think I was talking to someone in India or Pakistan...and told them I didn't need their help. Especially since they really couldn't get the job done. I asked for a credit to me card and after speaking to his supervisor he agreed. All this took only 4 and 1/2 hours. Thank heaven for 800 #'s.

This AM I went to the ISP and picked up the CD. Still ran into other little problems but called and talked to the same technition each time and he was wonderful. Now all is back to normal. They did say that I should run the Norton Live Update at least once a week, over and above what is automatically run by Norton and I should do a Windows Update weekly. You can believe I will!!!!! Well that's enough about my uninteresting life for now.

MAGGIE I hope you are enjoying your trip. Even a short time away from home goes a long way to making coming home a delight.

JEAN Your school year is rapidly coming to a close....Congratulations!! Aren't grandkids grand!!!!! Ian sounds like a lot of fun.

FAYE Boy, you sure are a whirlwind around the house. You place must look lovely with all the new paint and moving around of the furniture. Be careful in moving such a big item as the hutch. You could do yourself some real damage if your not careful.

Gloria in MA.....need to get away from the computer for a while....maybe I'll work in the yard...it needs a lot of help.

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's a sunny day but the wind is blowing so hard. I'd love to open all the windows but sure don't want to clean up the grit that will blow in. We had an hour and a half awards assembly this afternoon. I got so stiff after an hour that I finally stood for a few minutes. That wasn't the best plan so went back to my room and finished up some paperwork.

Gloria -- It's great that your ISP was able to help you! I sometimes think the computer techs get just a bit money hungry! I had to redo Norton last week and it took forever to download and install but evidently my problem is solved because I'm not getting any notices from the "old" boy! We have 14 days left of classes and then 4 days of finals which is a piece of cake. The seniors will be gone on the 19th and the school is so quiet without them! I am ready for a break although it will probably take me all summer to get my house straightened out and organized. Someday I will learn to "do as I go" and not get so far behind!

Hope you all have a terrific Thursday! I get my stitches out tomorrow and I'm in hopes I can wash my grungy foot!

morning ladies!

Jean: We have to put this huge pantry in the dining room because there is no place for storing dry goods and can goods. It takes up a lot of space and so we decided to move the cabinet (it is more like a cabinet than a hutch sort of like if you take the top of a hutch off and only have the bottom storage space) up to the second floor onto the landing in the hallway. I have tons of family pictures on it and we thought since there is no where else to put all the pictures that don't have hang up style backs on them to continue to use the cabinet and keep it upstairs as I am taking all the family pics that were in the dining area and hanging them along the stairwell going up to the second floor. The hallway is now finished with pictures, mirrors etc and looks just great. I still have to get "nautical" stuff for the walls in the living room since I "de" countried it and went to boats, lighthouses and such.

We are going to be gone for the weekend and I am looking forward to it. There are some personal family problems that are driving me crazy and I had a 2 free hotel stay at the casino so Jack demanded that we go and get away. DD is taking me to lunch for mothers day since she has to work today so mother's day for me will be going to the commissary and getting my shopping done and prbably getting a call from my ds and dil.

Everyone have a great weekend, a super duper mother's day and I can proudly say I know the most wonderful mother's in the world right here on this thread!

Good Evening, Flowers!
I pulled my usual Friday night stunt and fell asleep in front of the TV. I had planned to get a head start on my Saturday chores but that sure didn't happen. Oh well, everything will still be waiting for me in the morning. I don't why I am so tired tonight.

It was a ho hum day at school today. I think our crazy weather pattern has everyone in a stupor. It was supposed to be 85 today and it only hit 60 with heavy winds again today. It was cold! We go from one extreme to the other overnight and it's no wonder so many have colds; the leaves have popped out this week and the allergies have also kicked into high gear.

"Gma" -- I hope you have an enjoyable weekend! It sounds like fun! We are mail/housesitting for our neighbors who are also gone. He was on our answering machine yesterday saying they were headed off to see grandchildren for a birthday party, soccer game, dance recital, and concert all rolled into three days. He didn't sound especially excited about the whole itinerary.

We are in a severe storm watch until 3 AM but I'm heading for bed shortly. I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

GOOD EVENING MAGNOLIAS

It has been a most interesting week here in the East. After the first computer viris which my ISP helped eliminate another the Trojan.KillAv virus hit. Spent 3 days going back and forth between 3 of the teckies at my ISP and tried about everything we could think of. But to no avail. Eventually they suggested that I wipe my computer clean and start over. Have a great neighbor who is a computer "nerd", his words, who came over and restarted my computer so it is just like new. It took something like 5 hours before I was able to get on line. I still have questions but I will call him tomorrow. Everything I do, I need to re-sign in....it is a good thing that I copied all my signin names and passwords. I have been on the phone with one person or another since last Tuesday. I have had it.....stressed out but hope this is the end of the problem. My "nerd" did save most of my favorites so that is a 'good thing'.

I think I will be heading to bed early tonight.

Gloria in MA....wishing you all a great Mother's Day. Good Night

Good Evening, Flowers!
I'm on my way to bed but wanted to check in here first. It was the usual Saturday of laundry and vacuuming cat fur. I don't know why but it takes me forever to accomplish anything. Yes, I do know why -- I stop and get side-tracked along the way. *sigh* It seems I am getting worse about that instead of better.

Gloria -- I'm sorry to hear about your computer problems! I know how aggravating that can be and especially so when you can't fix it yourself. I'm glad to see you are back online!

It is starting to thunder and we are in a storm watch again tonight. Guess I will shut down and head off to bed.

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

Arrow Saturday Evening

GOOD EVENING MAGNOLIAS

It has been a beautiful day here in the Sierras. I have been working on my glass and having a fun time. I love doing glass work. I have not been OP so much this week but have promised myself this coming week will be right on.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to everyone of you. I got to see my mother last weekend and will go down there again come August. We try to make it every 3 months. It is a 5 1/2 drive with light traffic along the way and we have to go during the week and be home on the weekends ~ Sunday at least.

GLORIA sorry to hear you had more computer woes. Hopfully this will be the last of that nonsense. I saw on TV they cought the teen that started one of the viruses and he will get a few years ~ I think 5 ~ in jail. If he is so smart to start the virus I wonder why he didn't channel his intelligence into something to help instead of hurt. Guess he will have a few years to ponder that one.

JEAN I know you have leaned by now that housework and laundry are never done. They will be with us forever as long as we are on this ole earth. Thing is, don't let them run your life. You be in charge. I certainly know how it is with long haired cats! Turn is also shedding and getting lots of hair balls. I have started his meds again so it will slow those horried things down at least. He loves the Special Kitty kind that are like his Pounce treats. Gobbles them right up not knowing it is "good for him" stuff.

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
I am ready for a nap! Jason, Amanda, and Ian just left and everyone is tired. Ian's little feet went from the time he got here until they left. He visited all of the neighboring yards to check out the lawn ornaments, bird baths, and peeked in patio doors while he was there. He did his best to catch birds but never quite got the job done.

I am not ready for it to be Monday tomorrow but need to decide what I'm wearing so I can finish some ironing. It is 90 degrees this afternoon and quite windy. I'm hoping for a cool down tomorrow!

Maggie -- "Mom" isn't longhaired, she just has really thick fur and it isn't soft. It's more like a Brillo pad actually. She likes to be brushed and I get handfuls out of her but then she looks like she has dandruff. She is not a pretty cat. I clip the matted chunks out but she gets to digging and there's fur all around her. I wonder if the birds would use it to build their nest? What kind of medicine do you give Turn for fur balls?

I am off to read the Sunday paper and maybe take a cat nap. Have a nice "rest of the day!"

Arrow Mothers Day

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

What a beautiful 75 degree afternoon we are having. Not much different happeing around this part of the woods.

JEAN I give Turn Special Kitty Hariball Treatment which comes in a little container that looks just like treats. They are little pillows that are filled with the meds and the kind I have now are Tender Chicken Flavor. Got them at Wal-Mart. Give him 5 for 3 days in a row then once a week. Guess he doesn't mind them because I give him other types of treats that come in the same types of containers. And maybe they taste just as good but I havent tried them. So little Ian is learning young to be a peeping Tom. Gotta watch that kid! What a live wire ~ lights are on and someone's home. Nap eh? I am not a napper nor is Will. We get enough sleep at night and don't have to nap. The only time you will find either of us in bed during the day is if we are ill. I think our plans are changed and we won't be coming out to Iowa after all in September this year.

Default Monday Monday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is only 61 as I type at 20 till noon which is neat for it is cooler than it has been in awhile. I was up a pound and know why ~ too much food at folks houses when we were gone down south. But I am back on track this day and it is a fresh week. I do so want to shed all these pounds that I have been lugging around for so long. I got out my little Bobette Bubble Blowing Bauble and shined her up. For those of you who don't know what in the world I am talking about it is a silver fish that holds bubble blowing fluid and has a silver ball bubble in it's mouth that comes out and has a tiny tiny wand attached that blows tiny tiny bubbles. This hangs on a nice long silver chain. It is a fun piece of jewlery.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone. Do a random act of kindness this day.

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's a warm and humid afternoon -- 81 degrees as I'm typing. It's much too early to have the humidity set in. Stinky, sweaty kids are not fun to be around! It was a typical Monday at school with everyone dragging a bit. I'm waiting for DH to get home from practice at church -- his group is singing on Sunday.

Maggie -- I will have to look for the hairball treats. Both "Mom" and Maggie will eat Science Diet hairball formula food and I do think it helps. Leonard will only eat the soft food and has to eat the WD formula, which is only available through the vet and quite expensive. The vet says he has colitis. I haven't heard you mention Bobette for a very long time. I bought bubbles for Ian but think it was a dud -- we dripped more than we got blown. When I read the fine print it said "for outside use only." I don't know why they don't have the kind from the "olden" days as they worked great, came in a convenient size, (not the gallon jars), and were available in grocery stores too. Just having Wal Mart, to shop, leaves alot to be desired!

I need to pick up the kitchen and read the paper before I start supper, which is going to be leftovers from yesterday, I think. Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday! I think I am #14 to post so whomever is next gets to start a new thread.

Jean -- from Iowa!
