Default Doing Your Own Thing May 2004

I refuse to be in the month of March any longer! Jello, hope you don't mind that I started a May thread.

I got seriously ambitious this morning. I got up at 6 am, painted the right side of the kitchen countertops so all the counters are done, Jack resanded this outcropping part of the wall and the cabinet over the fridge (we had a leak from an upstairs toilet a while back and I hadn't gotten to repainting UGH!) and I finished painting the kitchen cabinets, then I got down on my hands and knees and stripped, cleaned, the remopped the whole kitchen floor, laundry room floor and bathroom floor, cleaned the bathroom, oh yeah fixed and cleaned up breakfast and lunch in there somewhere, did a load of laundry and cleaned all painted and floor cleaning junk up and put it away. I am pretty pooped now and sore. I told my dh I was too old and too fat to be doing stuff like that anymore.

I am not sure whether or not I told you I had a job interview on Friday, but it went really really well. They spent an hour interviewing me including the office manager, which is the owner's wife, the owner, who is the optometrist, and another technician. The owner told me I did a really good interview so I hope they offer me the job. I think I would really like it. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Well, just wanted to check in. Everyone have a great weekend.

Hello everyone!
Well, the houseguests have gone and left me with a pretty clean house and leftovers in the fridge (that means I don't have to cook til maybe Wednesday - woohoo!). It was really a lot of fun.....and when they got underfoot, I mentioned a new computer store and they were gone for HOURS... hehehe

Jello......what a relief to finally hear from you! Congratulations on the new job
The stress is awful now.....and there will be a certain amount of stress in the new job with new people and procedures to get used to......so keep up at Curves at all costs! I have always found exercise to be a great stress-reliever!

Faye......loved the wallpaper border and wall color too! Have got my fingers crossed for your job interview

Dyan.....keep focusing on May 19 to get you through. Once you get everyone under one roof again, with someone to share the joys/stresses, it will all be worthwhile

Tig....wow....are you busy or what!......job....boys....curves....lawnmowing.... ..good thing you're a woman or you wouldn't be able to handle it all

Thanks for the new thread, Faye. The old one was pretty long. Where is everyone - we have to support each other!

Good morning everyone. Nice weather must be across the country since everyone seems to be absent. I can't wait for the pool to open at the end of the month. We are getting unseasonably hot weather here for the next week and I hope it continues so the pool will warm up.

I have been eating improperly for about 5 days now and it has got to stop. I know it is somewhat related to hormonal issues, but I need to get back on track and back to eating properly. I seem to have no problem with the exercise part of it, which for the majority of dieters is usually the problem. I have to decide what I want to do and go from here.

I am still waiting to hear about the job. I figure it will be about another week or so. I know that my last job, I competed against 350 other women so I am sure she has a lot of resumes to go through.

I started moving stuff around in the dining room area so that we can start on the dining room in another week. We are going down to the casinos this weekend as I have a 2 free day hotel stay. I am taking our dvd player and they have an indoor pool and we are just going to relax Fri and Sat. Gambling it not the biggy this time as we did that in Vegas, but I couldn't see wasting a free hotel stay.

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

Good morning, Faye and all the rest of you. Beautiful day in Virginia but COLD last night. Getting warmed up again today.

Faye, you already know what you have to do, an unfortunately you are the only one who can control what you eat. I know when I get off track I not only feel bad from eating junk but guilty and miserable that I let it happen. Just take it one meal at a time and you'll soon be back on track I envy you the weekend. I'd love to get away but will definitely next month (32nd wedding anniversary).

Hi!
It's a mad house in my little neck of the world! This week alone my boys have soccer, baseball, track, weight training, band concert and sports physicals. DH doesn't get home early enough from work to help with any of it. I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR! This week events overlap and I'm hoping for next week to be better.

Jello, are you sticking it out the last week at the old job? What will you be doing at the new job? Is Curves near the new place?

Faye, you should see downtown Plymouth. They have the roads tore up from the little airport to KFC. It's a disaster. And wouldn't ya know it, Curves is smack dab in the middle of all the mess. Have fun at the hotel. I'm green with envy.

MsRD, I think I need to plan some house guests to get me motivated for some deep cleaning. I'm doing the minimum to get by lately.

Hey Quilter! 32 years

Tigerlily, you, indeed, are WOMAN...don't let the pace get you down. Glad to hear you are still going to Curves. Take care of yourself!

Tig: What are they doing, widdening that part? It has needed it for years and years so it will probably be nice when they get it finished, but being just 2 lanes and the way most folks north of Plymouth come into Plymouth, I am sure it is a royal MESS!

Susan: Yep, you are right, I AM the only one that can improve my eating and I started today. One of the BIGGEST things I have problems with is boredom eating and I was hoping that getting a job would help with that. I am running out of things to do here at home again and can't wait for the pool to get open so I can get into it.

Hope everyone is doing well today. Miss all of you who have posted in awhile.

Faye, you should work on your scrapbooking or some other busy hand project that make it hard to snack until the pool opens. Wouldn't want crumbs in the scrapbook.
As for 31, I'm guessing they are making it wider...but can't tell for sure yet. They also have one side of the 30 overpass tore down. Bad timing, doing it all at once. Seems to me they tear it up every couple years and haven't gotten it right yet.

Quilter, I'm definately keeping up with Curves. I like my money too much to let it go to waste. And, results are added incentive.
I'm down 8.5 since starting Curves. It's a slow pace, but I'm happy with it.
Slow and steading wins the race. I figure a few more pounds and I should start to notice it in my clothes...I'm gonna like that!

Evening all!

Just stopping by for a minute.....I really did eat too much when company was here, so have vowed not to step on the scale until Saturday. By then, I will hopefully be back down to being overweight..... ...lol The good news is the weather has been a bit warmer, so I have started walking again.....I take the dog and he encourages me to hurry along. (Dog is a Siberian Husky....and is bred to RUN.....)

Faye...have a great time on your getaway weekend. Sometimes a break in scenery can help clear your mind and get you back on track

Tig.....you make me tired just listening to your schedule. Sometimes being busy helps with the dieting.....and sometimes it makes it worse when you don't have time to eat properly..........hope yours is doing ok!
Gotta go!

Hola Chicas!

Just dropping in to say, I'm still here. Have been having a hard time with the "slumlord". I've talked to a lawyer and will probably have to take him to small claims court. In a nutshell, he didn't have things fixed when housing came for their 2nd inspection, so for everyday it's not fixed, they aren't paying him, so he calls me and tells me that for everyday it's not fixed he's going to take money out of our security deposit. For example, when the electricians couldn't make it on the day I called, I called him and said that they's be out the following day and he said, well, that's another $50 out of your deposit!! He's such a and he can this place and shove it up his and then . Sorry, I'm a LITTLE upset.

On to other news.....I weigh in next week at Curves and am scared to death. We went to Utah last week, and I ate like a freakin oinker. I came home and the scale said I gained 10 pounds!! What's that all about?!

Talked to Dh today and he found a 4 bdrm, 2 1/2 townhouse for rent. It's a great price. It's $850 a month. Right now the rent's $1950 for a 4 bd 2 bath house. Granted this place is 1600 sq ft as opposed to the 1200+ square ft of the townhouse. I'm excited because it has a w/d upstairs, AND a dishwasher. Never had one of those before! the complex also has a pool, playground, and gym. They also take section 8, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get it.

Hello all! Just a quick post before I head off to Curves for their 1-year anniversary and then off to an early mom's day lunch with mom.

Lasted my first week at the new job. It was terrible at first b/c I was so confused and all but it got better. Then yesterday I did a really big boo-boo when entering some data and some of us had to stay late and fix it. I felt terrible but they were nice about it.... quite unlike what my old boss would have been. Yeah, I think I'll stay.

Have had my ups and downs (literally) with my weight and eating but I'm hanging in there. MrsRD, I know I shouldn't step on the scale all the time like I do but I can't help myself!

Faye, like Quilter said, you know what you have to do. Trick is doing it, right? Yeah, I know exactly!

Tiger, hi Superwoman!!

Dyan, I'm so sorry to hear about those s!! I've got everything crossed (and it's quite painful ) for you and that new house!!

Well, I really do have to run. Good job on starting the May thread Faye!!! See, knew you guys could do it. Now I have to keep up my end of the bargain and check in more often.

See ya!

Happy Mother's Day! And I hope you all survived! Dinner was here and, as usual, worked my butt off (wish I could say that figuratively )

Both married kids were here with their assorted offspring and DH and I picked up our mothers from the home (one is there due to a stroke and one due to dementia) to join us. It does makes things a bit more complicated....what one does so that one can sleep at night

Anyway....it was a wonderful day.....kids brought me two hanging flower baskets....and we all ate until we couldn't sit up any longer (maybe I should put off getting on the scale until NEXT Saturday...

Dyan.....It will be just a short while until you are out of there.....at this point, you would probably leave if DH had a tent pitched in a WalMart parking lot

Faye...good job on 'starting again'.....you know what you have to do! You have to get back to being my inspiration again! :

Jello....good to hear from you and that your job is going well.

Well....am going to take 2 aspirin and put my feet up for 20 minutes before I tackle the kitchen disaster area!
Later.....

Hello, ladies, checking in today! Was attacked by the bad food gang over the weekend and they forced me to eat things I shouldn't have. Sheriff got them so I'm back on track today. Actually, the Sheriff's deputy showed up at my house Saturday morning - with a Supoena for Jury Duty. Aren't I lucky. Actually, I don't mind serving and the cases may be settled out of court before the days come up. Boss was not real happy about it. So sad!

Jello, looks like this job may be a winner. You know you are only human and will make mistakes at the beginning.

Dyan, I'm not sure it's legal for him to do this. In Virginia, you can't use the security deposit as rent payments. It has to be kept in a separate account. We rent office space. I'd check into it. He needs to be taught a lesson.

Hello all. I should be finishing up cleaning my upstairs, but here I sit. We had a great time at the casino and I won $550 so it paid for anything we ate, our gambling and lots and lots of redecorating stuff for the condo. I bought new light fixtures, marble stones for the flower patch I don't want to plant, faux stone for the fireplace that is gray and it really looks cool now with the blue painted walls and the off white mantel.

Dyan: Ca. is a renters dream so I would certainly check into it. It is the one state where renters really have the upper hand so I would lower the boom on the jerk! Sue his pants off!

Jello: Hope your job is going smoother. I haven't heard from the one I applied for but whatever happens happens.

Let me tell you what I did as far as the eating etc. I decided I really needed to deal with emotional issues that hadn't really been eliminated out of my life. I sat and typed a huge journal entry listing all the bad things in my life, and then "talked" to the people that caused me the hurt then I put it in the fireplace and burned it up. I feel so much better having let it out especially since a lot of the people are dead now and I can't confront people anyway. I told them all off and really released a lot of what has been inside of me for years and I burned it to "release" it all from my emotional being. I know that part of what is going on with me are issues that I have kept buried inside me and now maybe I can be more effective than I have been.

have a great day ladies, I really do need to finish upstairs! lol
