Thank you - yet again - for starting the next thread for us, Curvy!

Last month, I lowered my usual goal of 10 lbs to 8 lbs, and I ended up only losing 3 lbs for the whole month. While I am tempted to drop my goal even further to 5-6 lbs for the month, I really want to try to hit the 175lb range, so I'm going to stick with last month's goal of 8 lbs to see if I can manage to do it this time around. Fingers crossed! I have a trip back home coming up in July, and I'd like to see if I can pick my momentum back up before heading home to see people I haven't seen in almost 6 years...not to mention that I will likely gain a little weight while I'm there with all the delicious food available, so I need to lose what I can before I go!

Best of luck to everyone in May!

Hi, all! I jumped into the middle of your April thread and was very grateful for your kindness. I'm getting back on the right track for May and look forward to joining this month's check-in group. Although I'll post regularly, I'm not sure of how often I'll record weights -- at least weekly and possibly more often, provided that I don't let little fluctuations erode my confidence.

A big thank you to Curvy for getting this months thread up and running. May is going to be the month that I make it out of this decade. I’m going to be focusing on 5L of water per day, 72g of carbs per day or less and getting outside at least 4 days per week for an hour of exercise (walking, yard work, anything as long as it’s movement). Best of luck to everyone on their continued journeys or those who are just starting out.

Thank you curvynotlumpy for keeping this monthly thread going. It sure keeps me going.

I'm still battling this head cold and it's difficult to breathe, so I think I'll wait till tomorrow to try and exercise. I definitely need to drink more water though.

Have a fantastic month of May everyone!

Martine: Sorry to hear your head cold is still kicking. I hope you feel better soon

Lost some of the water I was retaining yesterday, hoping to get rid of the last little bit today. Plan for the day is PT, a nice long walk with Loki, lots of chores around the house and rehearsal this evening.

Weigh-in was 183.2 today, which is down a little from yesterday but not quite back down to where I was over a week ago. However, I was expecting a little bit of a gain today, because I've decided - yet again - to do my weigh-ins and start my eating window an hour earlier in the day again, which usually shows a couple days of adjustments on the scale...so, I'm happy to still see a bit of a loss. I've tried this in the past but always end up going back, because we stay up so late that I get too hungry at the end of the day to close my window earlier...but, my husband is able to come home at lunch now, and so it will line up better with his time at home, and maybe it will just force me to go to bed earlier like I know I should be doing anyway, lol. It's also an extra hour in the day to get more water in, so every little bit there will help too, I think. We'll see how it goes over the next couple of days while I adjust my schedule, but I want to stick with it this time, regardless.

Curvy: Thank you for getting this thread started and doing it in such an inviting way. This is indeed a great month to visit farmer's markets and be adventurous with produce.

OpheliaPhoenix: Good luck in estimating a monthly target. Although slow and steady losses are the most sustainable, it's hard to overcome the allure of fast transformations.

RunningRedHead: Those are great goals. For now, I'm focusing on water consumption to clear my system and carbs to keep blood sugar within reasonable ranges.

Martine: I hope your cold gets better soon. When it's stuffy nose season, I love hot tea with lemon and a dash of cayenne pepper.

Let the month begin! Good luck, all.

This was just the saddest day I have faced so far since employees learned of my transfer. One of them broke down in my arms crying. She is 67, she suffered a
brain injury some years back and had to learn to walk and talk again and she had thanked me time and time again for hiring her, which she said had brought her back to life and helped her gain her speech back. And when I saw her today, she started sobbing in my arms. I felt so sad for her and I tried my best to reassure her that everyone would keep on caring for her and that I would come and visit her. She's so sweet, it broke my heart.

I just wanted to apologize for being such a downer lately. I don't want to trouble everyone with my every feeling on my work situation. I appreciate your patience and understanding. As they say, this too shall pass.

Hi There!

Today is my first day on this site, after 10 years away. Last time, I lost over 100 pounds. Well, it's back again, and so am I. Looking forward to new friends and getting it right this time around.

So nice to see a May challenge I can jump into,

Martine that sounds so hard. I am so sorry that you and your colleagues are going through a difficult time at work.

RunningRedHead I like the outside movement goal! Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

PartTimeHippie Does it help to think about little fluctuations as often times due to water? That helps me battle gettjngbpsyched out about fluctuations.

opheliaphoenix It’s smart to pick up momentum before a trip. It’s so much harder to keep weight loss going when away from home! Having just returned I am hoping I can get back into my routine.

curvynotlumpy thanks for starting the thread and also for your positive and encouraging energy!

—————-
Finally got back home last night after a second work trip. I was pretty good with diet though going out meant having no real way of knowing what was in my food, I just tried to make good choices while still enjoying social time. Considering that I had been fluctuating a bit up prior to travel due to PMS, upon coming home I’m down a little bit to 175.2 from 177. I will call that a win. What I did not do while away was exercise. I really want to get back into that, but I came home with a bad cold so that might slow me down in returning to the gym. My reach goal for this month is to get to 169. I will be ok with not making it as long as the scale goes in the right direction. 169 is my move from obese to overweight so it’s psychologically a big goal for me. This month I also want to do better on my water. And on the exercise front, keep up my 3x per week Zumba and occasional weight lifting routine. Fingers crossed that this is a good month for me!

Shelleylinden: back to 3FC and to this thread. Whatever your goals are, you’ve come to the right place, the chickadees here are some of the most supportive people I’ve “talked” to

PartTimeHippie: Sounds like you’ve got some great goals for this month as well Good luck to you

Martine: Your experience at work yesterday sounds heartbreaking. I am so sorry for what you and your fellow employees are going through right now. Please don’t apologize for venting; that’s why we’re here. And your work situation plays a big role in your mindset and your mindset has everything to do with your weight loss journey. You have nothing to be sorry for. Stay strong and as you said, this will pass

jazzfan22: Glad to hear your work trip went well and you were able to stay on track. Way to go on your drop I hope you kick that cold to the curb soon and that you’re able to get back into your workout routine

Casey: Great job on the drop Good luck with opening and closing your window earlier.

Curvy: Happy May Day to you as well

I know a bit part of the drop on the scale the last few days is water weight, but I will totally take it. Yesterday I was at 80g of carbs, so I only went over my goal by 8g, since it was the first day I’m counting it as a win. However, I only made it to 4L of water so I will be paying closer attention to that today. I did make it outside for an hour long walk with Loki, it wasn’t until after dark, but we made it. Today I have to bring my dad to his last PT appointment and I’m bringing the pup with me to go for a walk while he’s at his appointment. Also, even if today’s weight is just a downward fluctuation and it bumps back up tomorrow, this is the lowest weight I have recorded on 3FC since I started chatting with all of you ladies, so thank you all for your continued , support and accountability. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

PartTimeHippie: The quick and larger losses are definitely more alluring, lol. However, I do agree that it is a healthy mindset to remember that slow and steady will still win the race in the end...and, I'm doing my best to keep that mindset!

Martine: Awww, that is terribly sad and so sweet at the same time! I am sorry you're having to deal with such a bittersweet work situation with the transfer, but I am happy that you were able to make such an impact on others' lives while you were there. I hope you're able to find time to visit every once in awhile! Sending you hugs while you readjust in the meantime.

shelleylinden: Welcome back to 3FC!! You've done so well in the past that I bet you will have the same success this time around!

jazzfan22: I hope you find your stride back into your routine, and I also hope you feel better ASAP! We'll likely only be gone for a week when the time comes for our own trip, but I still know how much damage can be done in that little time while on vacation...lol. Hopefully, I can be as on-plan as you managed to be while away!

Kayla: Thank you, I will probably need it! Haha. Also, congrats on another great drop -- and hitting a new 3FC-posting low!!! Water weight or not, it's still progress that was made.

-----------------------------------------

Weigh-in was 182.4 today, so I'm finally back to my low from a week and a half ago! Hopefully, I can break free from this most recent loop and move down from here. On the personal front, I've had some partial numbness in my lower left leg and foot since Sunday night. (Not numb enough to mimic how a limb feels when it "falls asleep", but about half that.) I'm hoping it's just a pinched nerve that will sort itself out soon, but I wrote the doctor's office about it to see what they think. Until I hear back from them, I think I'm going to start doing some yoga again in the mornings to help stretch things back out...especially since I haven't been walking much since it started, because it starts to feel really weird after walking for more than just a couple minutes. That and yoga has always made me feel great in the past, so why not? I'll probably also focus more on the elliptical again in the evenings until I can get that all figured out.

and good afternoon.

Today has been a busy day. We are close to fiscal close so this morning I met with my Administrative Coordinator to discuss where our budgets were at and end of the year purchases that still need to be made. It's always such a dicey time of year but I'm grateful that we are hurting for anything. We are already in the middle of Week 5 of the quarter (out of 10) and I feel like a stone rolling downhill with all the things that need to get done. I'm doing my best to keep my focus on what's ahead of me and not get bogged down by the "noise."
***************************************
Martine: What a heart wrenching experience! You're not being a downer at all . Any support we can provide we're happy to do it. You are such a wonderful and kind supervisor and it shows in all your posts about your employees. It's clear you share a special bond with them. It is going to take some adjustment but I'm grateful you are still in the area and visits are a reality.

RunningRedHead: Whether the scale bumps up a bit again or not, you've hit a major milestone! I love when I see the words, "lowest recorded weight..." from anyone who has been faithfully on their journey. What a sweet, sweet reward!

opheliaphoenix: Numbness in your leg and foot? Crazy thought but do you think it might be shoe related? I'm glad you're self-evaluating and switching up your workout routine for a bit, especially if makes you feel so good. Keep us posted!

shelleylinden: Welcome back! I'm in the process of re-losing weight again as well. It's a bear, isn't it?! Make yourself comfortable and please check in often!

jazzfan22: Great attitude regarding your goal and what positive progress is! Sending you lots of : as you make your way from obese to overweight. That's a significant milestone!
