As I just posted on the last thread, thank you again for hosting these year-long challenges, VickieLou!!! I am excited to see what I can accomplish this year.
It may be a little ambitious, considering I am still so far away, but I'd like to see if I can hit my "ultimate goal" in 2018! So, I'm setting my goal for 135 lbs, although - since I have never been at a healthy weight before - that may be subject to change if I get closer to that number and realize that I am happier or healthier at any weight in the 135-150 range. I will have to wait and see! If that goal does change, I will make a post to update with that info. I will be happy just to be at any healthy weight for the first time in my adult life, so I hope I'm able to succeed in reaching that goal - whatever that final number may end up being - this year.
Good luck this year, everyone!

Thanks for starting the new thread, VickieLou. I have been doing some soul searching in the past week or so and I realize I have to make more of an effort to get progress. I am just too lax with this. I know what I need to do, it's just doing it that's holding me back.
I realize if I would lose 5 lbs per month I would be at goal by Christmas. So this is my all over goal for the year.
Tomorrow I will weigh in and get an honest starting weight. I would just be guessing today.
Hi everyone, I am really pleased to be joining in this challenge with you.
I think it would be expecting too much to reach goal by the end of the year, too much to lose. I will be extremely happy to reach between 40 - 50kg loss for the year. Based on recommendations, that should be achievable My ultimate goal is to reach 62kg (136lb), that is the weight I felt the healthiest, many, many years ago.
First number is KGs, second is LBs

Here I am, ready to start for the New Year. I got on the scale and I'm happy to say that I only gained 4 lbs over the holidays. I expected it to be more than that. I'm setting my goal at 5 lbs per month. That's just slightly more than 1 lb per week, and I can do this. Others have done far more.

I would like to reach my goal weight of 140 this year. I am hopeful that a healthy pregnancy will be thrown in, so that may change my goal plans.

This hit really close to home for me. If I am honest with myself, I would have probably already made goal by now if I had put in more effort. I am ready to get the weight loss phase over with!
ophelia I totally think that you could make your goal this year!! You have the diet and exercise combo down!
Hello All! Coming back to 3FC with my tail between my legs after several months of just being stupid and gaining back a bunch of weight. Hoping to make some real progress this year and maybe even make it to goal if I can keep my head in the Game! Good luck to everyone!
Start Weight: January 1, 2018 ~ 268.4 End of 2018 Goal Weight: 135 Current Weight ~ 254 Lbs Lost ~ 14.4 Lbs to go ~ 119
I'm tentatively joining this challenge. It's not that I don't plan to be at goal this year, it's that I'm not sure if a challenge will be helpful or unhelpful to me (I'm iffy at balancing my drive to lose weight with patience). We'll see. But I'd like to try.
2018
SW: 159.6
GW: ~111 or thereabouts (yes, this is a low-normal weight, but it's one I and my doctor decided on together because a] it was a healthy weight for me in the past and b] my doctor wants me as light as healthily possible because of some medical issues).
That's about 1 lb/week and less than 5 lbs a month on average. I think that's absolutely doable.

1/7: 157.4
1/14: 157.4
1/21: 154.6

Chanticleer each to their own with goal weights, no-one knows your body and what is healthy for you but you. I've had people tell me that I should be aiming for the mid 50s kgs (120lbs) but I really liked how i felt at 62kg (136lbs). After being the oompa loompa that I am at the moment, anything below 80kg (176lbs) will feel amazing
3/1: 199.5 had a massive (unintentional drinking w/e. So ecstatic i didn't gain)
3/8: 199.5
3/15: 199.7 this is clearly not going to be my month

kfunk: What an exciting goal - I hope you get your healthy pregnancy this year!
Tkkoz: Thanks! I put that disclaimer on there when I mention my approximate goal weight because it could be considered concerning by some people (though technically it's a clinicallly normal/healthy weight). They wouldn't know I have teeny bones and a doctor's supervision. I agree that goals are very individual and I don't jump to conclusions. Good luck with your own goals!

I'm glad to see that so many people are signing up for this challenge. The more the merrier, and the more support we can give and get.
Chanticleer, I understand about your goal, especially since you are under an doctor's supervision. We all have different needs. Personally, I don't think I will reach a weight that is considered normal for me, and I doubt if my doctors would consider that the best thing considering my age and medical issues. My excess weight is all in my belly, due to a couple surgeries I have had. Since weight comes off all over, I might not be healthy at a normal weight, if that sounds possible. I would probably lose weight in places I don't need it. But I will do the best I can, and stop when I think I've reached the best weight for me. But I'm putting the cart before the horse. I need to start losing before I can decided where to stop. LOL I do hope you continue on with us.
In case anyone is curious, here is a chart I found online that shows what our healthy weight should be. It's an eye opener, for sure.
Although this is a once-a-week weigh-in challenge, I plan on checking in daily. I didn't do that last year and ended up forgetting often. Since I am a forum moderator, I'm here every day anyway. I will still only weight once a week. Daily weighing gets me discouraged when I see the fluctuations. I really intend to do better this year. I'm trying not to use the words "hope" "want" and replacing them with more positive words, like "intend" and "will."
Here's to a great year for all of us!
