Default New Year, Improved You January 2018 Check-in and Accountability Thread

Greetings!

Just remembered that we are at the end of the month and year! I checked in with the wonderful love2b150, aka, Rennie, before creating our January thread. She is working a tough midnight shift so she was headed off to bed when she texted me back. She's hoping for a better, more normal shift change beginning January 8 so let's all keep our that happens!

Welcome to the New Year, Improved You January 2018 Check-in and Accountability Thread! Here you are free to post your goals, current weight, updates on diet and exercise or simply check in and know that you have a group of accountability and conversation friends. Whether you are a long time resident of this thread or brand new to it, welcome to the neighborhood! I think if Rennie was writing this post she'd emphasize that the tie that binds us is our mutual support of everyone here, so if you've been lurking on this thread, don't be shy. Jump right in!

I decided to go with improved rather than new because becoming new is a whole lot of pressure. ALL progress is important and worth noting. We are improving each day we wake up and commit to our path toward weight loss and good health!

and welcome to all!

So, I'm going for a total of 10.6 lbs down this month. I struggled and just barely hit the 10 lb mark in December, so I am hoping that January will be a little bit easier without the holiday season interfering. Good luck in January, everyone!

Default

Thank you so much Curvy for starting this thread.
This 2018 is my year, it is our year to make significant changes and reach goals.

My personal goals are: losing weight, improving my health, drinking enough water daily, changing my negative attitude about exercise and make it a daily habit, fit into clothes I have had for years, feel better about myself, not hating myself and putting myself down anymore, be confident, feel beautiful in my own skin, make great memories with my hubby, be kinder to others and a more patient person overall.

God help me reach these goals and you all on your personal journeys!
Will check in tomorrow- the 1st!

Glad to see everyone coming back on for the new month and new year!

My first weigh-in of the year was 209.4 today, so I am hoping that starting out in a new decade is a good omen for 2018, health-wise, and that I get to stay in this new range tomorrow, as well...lol. I hope everyone had a fun and safe NYE last night, or at least a nice night in like we did. We never actually do much other than order in pizza (I made a cauliflower pizza for myself but indulged in some of their cheese sticks) and drink a little cider (maybe some champagne or moscato, but we weren't feeling it this year even though we'd bought some) at midnight and watch the ball drop with the kids. Although, this was our first New Year away from the EST in several years, so it was odd trying to find a recording to watch instead of watching it live at midnight...lol. (We don't have cable, so we just watched a playback of the live feed on YouTube.) Still not used to the time zone switch, I guess!

futurehealthyme being in control is one of the best feelings, isn't it? And I'm right with you on cheese, I have to control myself or I'd eat big portions of it, especially cheddar cheese and jalapeno pepper Monterey Jack cheese.

opheliapheonix bravo on the new decade for the new year! We're counting down the pounds with you until you reach Onederland! Sounds like you had a nice quiet evening at home to welcome the new year, like we did. Just your favourite food (in our case it's burgers, veggie for me) and staying up to ring in the new year (or in our case failing and falling asleep at 10:30pm).

So I just completed my first workout of the new year and I find that I'm still struggling with cardio endurance. Even though I'm over my cold, I still cough when I exercise or even randomly during the day. Just gotta get back in shape and push through it. I tried to tack on an abs workout but I didn't even last 5 minutes. I'll try again tomorrow, as my core really needs work. I also got in 2L of water today and have been eating well. One day at a time.

1: 37 minutes cardio workout

Wow it's been 3/4 of a year since I've been here. What a year 2017 had been for me. I went from working in a fast food restaurant to a hotel(where I had to fight to actually get paid :/ hotel wasn't ran properly) to back to the fast food place then into my currant job in a preschool (started in September as a cook for them but I'm also on the floor with the children) I had also started going to the college at night to get my early childhood education papers and still working at the fast food place a few nights a week for the extra cash to afford school.
But anyway I'm back. I'm going to be better and be back for real! I feel good about most aspects of my life now I just need to get me weight under controll

Start weight Jan 2 281.4lb

I'll figure a goal for the month and post it later
Have a good day ladies

Good morning and Happy New Year everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. I’ve gained about seven pounds since the last time I visited , but considering the lack of exercise recently with the cold weather (-10F to -20F degree wind chills ) and poor diet (hooray for the holidays), I’m happy I didn’t have more of a gain. This month I am aiming for a loss of 7.1 pounds to get back to where I was the last time I was here, to drink two liters of water every day , and to keep a careful eye on sodium intake by tracking faithfully with MFP. Also planning to start some new workouts I can do at home without having to go outside and freeze. Glad to see everyone is doing well. Here’s to the new year and new challenges.
