Default Maintainers Weekly Chat: March 13 - March 19

Hunkering down for the oncoming onslaught. When 18 inches of snow is predicted, we're sure to get something.

And it's all coming on the day that DW and I go pick up my DGD for the day at 7am and return her about 3pm. That gives me two chances of having to drive through the midst of it. I used to like driving in falling snow when I was headed to the slopes to ski because it meant fresh powder atop the base. That joy seems not to exist when driving in the snow in the city.

Bill Is your DGD old enough to enjoy playing in the snow? At least she will be happy then.

We are expecting the onslaught to start in the afternoon and last through to the end of Tuesday. Not so much coming down but lots of blowing snow.

The good news is that I slept for 8 hours last night and work to my alarm! Daylight savings for me is like being jet-lagged for 4 months and then suddenly not. I always forget what "falling back" one hour does to me. Coupled with winter conditions it makes for a tough 4 months.

Really looking forward to being home next Sunday and for spring to start arriving.

Good morning and good luck with the weather. It's a bit drizzly here but OK compared with what you seem to have.

Just popping in to say hello.
I was so busy last week it never happened and this week looks crazy too.
Lots going on and if it calms down for a moment, I'll fill you all in!

Briefly read the other thread and see major congrats are due for Becky!

And, Saef-- you're going to Tucson? For pleasure? That's where my younger dd lives. What are you planning on doing there?

We were thinking of going to Anza Borrego state park to look at the wildflowers either this past weekend or next Sunday. We're rethinking that idea--there were thousands of others that had the same idea, with hundreds already in the park when it opened at 6:30 AM. Friends of my in-laws went and said cars were parked on either side of the highway for miles. I suppose if we do go, we'll take a day off during the week.

And all you eastern folks are hunkering down for snow while we're still mid 90's here in So Cal. I would like it to cool off (we're 20+ over normal temps). Saturday we attempted to golf and couldn't make the whole 18 holes. I was so overheated I went home and took a cold shower.

Greetings to you all. It's suppose to be autumn here but we're still in high summer temps (average 25-30 C each day)
I envy you living in countries with 4 seasons.

Does anyone maintain well on 1200 cals per day?

(Sorry Silverbirch about that blooper.)

Pina, 1200 calories a day may be too low to sustain in the long run. But you'll have to see how you do. Getting enough protein seems to be key.

Today, astonished by Mission de San Xavier del Bac and then by the Sonora Desert Museum. But then a lackluster dinner at a buffet at the casino, with mediocre food, and quite salty roasted chicken. We had all of Tucson's restaurants spread out before us but my mother is always excited by buffets. She's very excited about the blizzard that's happening out East. I'm not, and am trying not to think of having to dig out two cars on my return -- unless the weather does another wild swing toward a thaw by Saturday.

Thanks JayEll. It's just a starting block and I'll be adding 100 cals every 2-4 weeks to pinpoint my maintenance /TDEE calories. It's hard to believe that I've been relying on tables to give me a TDEE, rather than working it out myself. I have another 10 days on the FMD (Fast Metabolism Diet) which in the past has brought me to my lowest maintenance weight. I'll peg my protein at 105g (35%) to start with after that.
Cheers,

We're getting the storm mostly today but the forecast for up here is rain and positive temps by Saturday. We've had 3-4 incidents of being acutely cold and then the temps rising 15-18 degrees overnight.

I'm really hoping for that up here.

Happy Wednesday all!

My dd has an interview for a teaching position for next year. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

At work super early today to get stuff done.

I have a sore toe from an ingrown toenail which may impede my exercise plans later. We will see.

Where is everyone this week? The board is really quiet!!

Hope everyone is hanging in there....

I'm still in Arizona and wondering whether we just got slush at my home or if there are several inches of snow that I'll have to clear from my car after I return.

I'm glad to have missed out on this storm.

We went to a talent show last night where my MIL sang and other retirees did similar gigs. It was held at their club house. We've gotten to know a lot of the people there--mostly golfers.

Friday night, we're meeting some friends for the unveiling of a new Porsche at a local art gallery. DH has been to the gallery numerous times as we've done work there, but I've never been there. You can see a huge Chihuly sculpture in one window--it's beautiful. DH says the rest of the gallery is very nice, too. That should be fun. I told DH that he might be in trouble--it's my birthday and he wants to see the new Porsche and he might have to buy it for me! LOL

Saturday, MIL is making a couple lasagnas and we're having a party at my house. I think we'll have 18 people. Not really a birthday party--just a get together with new and old friends and neighbors.

SO GLAD not to be having snow here in the PNW (i hate snow) but oh my the rain never stops. At least we have warmer temps now in the 50's where it's supposed to be.

Tomorrow i finally have an appointment to get diagnosed (and then referred to a specialist) of what i think are PVC's. Sometimes i have hundreds of them in a day. The depressing part is that i guess there's really not much to be done for those except avoid stress (yea, right) caffeine (but i've cut down on that and still...) etc. i CANNOT figure out my triggers at all.

Oh well, wish me luck
