Not to disagree with an expert, but...I really stressed myself out with worrying I was eating too much. Too much, I think! Look for the balance.
Ruth's suggestion to me about keeping this whole amounts/foods to enjoy thing under control was a great one- eat a recommended "serving" of one type of food. If you're still hungry, have a "serving" of another type of food. Really really helped me- that way you're getting a variety of foods and nutrients, AND you're forced to think about whether you're really hungry as you prepare that next food.
And just my opinion- I think it would be difficult to get too much of some veggies, so when I get the urge to munch, that's what I'm going for. Along with tea in the evenings for that 6-10 stretch.
Uh, Lisa... I'm NOT an expert. I've got the book, I've done the diet, but I'm right off course at the moment. My position as a moderator is entirely voluntary. I really don't know any more than most people here. I'm winging it, just like everyone else.
I agree with you... it's important not to stress about this. On the other hand, it IS possible to get right off track by thinking, "This is on the list... I'll just double the portion." It's usually not vegetables that people are ODing on.
Crikey, none of us are experts! MODs are just the same as everyone else, struggling to stay on some sort of plan and lose some weight. We got asked to volunteer as MODs because we mouthed off a lot. We don't get paid so can't possibly be "experts".
I write down my three meals and three snacks and usually that's it. I find I'm not hungry on the diet and any extra eating is just out of boredom or nerves. That said, if I ate only the portions listed in the examples in the book, I think I would be very hungry!
