Good Morning Everyone...

Thanks for all the comments yesterday about my vacation eating...Yes I am proud of myself and Yes IP and vacations can work....You have to work at it. The running joke of the weekend was ....where should we go for lunch? Anywhere Sue can have a bowl of lettuce will work! My friends were very supportive as was my husband...that makes life easy!

Rain here today. was pouring and thundering and lightning last night when I was planning on grilling my dinner....Ugh..so in went the steak into the frying pan...not as good.

Off to work. I am sure I will have plenty on my desk after a few days away from the office...

Missed WI day yesterday with my coach due to work. Will just wait until next week but my home scale shows a loss so that's good. Went to see Gone Girl last night, the smell of popcorn is hard to resist but I managed to avoid it.

I have a business dinner tomorrow night. Looked at the menu already and have made my selections. Avoiding the alcohol will be tough but I live in the south so a good glass of iced tea will work just as well.

Good Morning All! I'm FREEEEZING today. I'm probably going to walk over to the mall attached to our office building and buy some tights to wear under my skirt. Maybe, I'll look at scarves and gloves while I'm there.

Day 3 for me on P2... and I hate it. I want to go back to P1. For some reason I'm up 2 lbs? How is that even possible? Already in a panic that I'm going to put all this weight back on. Does anyone know if there is a local support group in MA, or could recommend a good coach? I think maybe I need to go back to seeing someone in person.

Kissi, freezing sounds great! It is still the high 80's in San Antonio. Today is weigh in even though I only started last Friday. Scale is showing a 3.5 loss but that's ok since my knees are still swollen. I finally go tomorrow to the ortho to find out what to do with them. I keep telling myself to have patience and at least I can follow IP without the excercise component!

Don't panic. I know you are a daily weigher and you are putting more substance in your body than before with P1. Generally speaking, you are eating 1 lb of meat a day. You haven't put back on 2 lbs of FAT. No way. Let your body adjust to the extra calories and level out. What's your salt intake looking like?

It's 'warm' in New Orleans, but they keep our office at like 50 degrees. I just bought a mini personal heater which I'm sure the management staff will gripe at me for having. I can't deal with being this cold up here though. I'll tell my direct boss that it will make me more productive.

Be patient! The scale will move and 3.5 down is a great weigh in!!!

Sgrealtor: We grill on our covered deck all winter, but it is a little comical when it takes a while for the grill to heat up and then we are out there in mittens and a toque flipping the steaks . And I agree, vacations on P1 can certainly be done - even ski vacations in the winter (not quite so much salad for me that time though - I hate cold salad on a cold day).

Don't worry darthkitten! Hang in there, your body is just adjusting to the extra food, but it's not a fat gain... unless you ate 7000 calories extra over the past 2 days? Is there something you're not telling us, lol...just kidding you. Really though, it will be OK - trust the maintainers P2 I think is the hardest to do as there is so much meat and we aren't used to that yet. Only 2 weeks! Just power through, .

Mornin' Kissi... I've been freezing in the evenings but I usually get cold from about 7 pm on, just my metabolism I guess. Last night I went to bed in sweats, socks, and my hoody pulled up over my head. I woke up several hours later to strip it all off... my poor DH - the bundled-up gal he got to sleep with last night sure isn't the slinky hottie he married almost 33 years ago, . It's been strangely warm here the past few days - it was 15C this morning at 6 am - OK... not Texas hot, but we are up North a bit.

Hoping everyone's day goes on plan!

kissi - good question, I should check my sodium levels. I've been eating lunchmeat which I know can be really high in salt.

Here's why I'm freaking out: P2 would probably be easier if I cooked my own dinner, I could just make an extra portion for lunch. BUT, I have class every night, so I go straight from work to school and eat on campus (they have a salad bar and meat from the grill). Reading the threads on maintenance and life after P1 aren't incredibly helpful to me because there is a lot of dairy and grain - and I don't plan on incorporating either into my diet as I phase off, since I have allergy problems with both (my one big cheat on this diet happened this past weekend when I caved and ate one small breadstick with my salad at lunch and I had severe stomach distress afterward). I know I can't stay on P1 forever, but I do plan on being low-carb for life. I'm just panicking about how to accomplish staying on this protocol when the range of food I can eat is so limited. Ack. Ack. Ack.

Sorry - I'm not good with change! And I'm an admitted control-freak. I'm worried that by the time I adjust to P2 it will be time to move into P3, and that scares the panties off of me because I'm NOT a breakfast person. I was eating a bar for breakfast before this diet which works perfectly for my lifestyle.

I wish I had a decent coach to unload this on - sorry for clogging up the daily chat!

I work full time and also go to school full time (overcommit much?? LOL!) so on school nights, I have a pre-prepared dinner - 8oz cooked cubed chicken breast, and 2 cups of veggies I can eat with my fingers!. I go straight from work to school, so I literally eat my dinner on the drive there. Not the most glamorous dinner, but one of the GREAT things we learn through this weight loss journey is how to take control of our eating.

Do you HAVE to eat in the school cafeteria? Of course not! It will involve a little more preparation on your part, but it's worth it in the end

Kissi - I guess I didn't realize we were in the same state! I guessed you were down South because of your brother playing for Mississippi but wasn't sure what state you were in! I am also in LA - very NW corner of the state! My office is also kept freezing as well - we just moved into this new office so I am waiting it out until it gets cold to see if I need to invest in a personal heater!

It's OK, darthkitten, that's what we are here for... You can use my diary on maintainers to get some ideas for non-grain P3/Maint, I admit I use dairy, but you can sub avocado or high fat nuts like walnuts, or macadamia nuts instead of cheese. Your starch carbs could be potato, beans, - there's lots of other stuff out there that's not grain. I don't remember all the allergies involved but I'm sure with our help you will be able to work things out. I also am not a breaky person. One way to do it is by using nutrient dense foods so you don't have to eat a large volume in the morning.

No fretting yet, just work on P2 for now and it will be over soon. It sounds like the sodium is probably an issue with meals from the cafeteria. You might have to cook double at lunch and just take the second portion with you. Boring, but I've done it before when there isn't anything GF at courses/events I have been through.

Yes, I agree with kissi, don't panic! It can't be fat, you are probably just retaining water. Give it a few days and I bet those 2 lbs will be gone.

Yeah, lunchmeat is usually very high in sodium. Can you grab something else from the store? Even like turkey burger patties? Precooked chicken breast strips? My plan on P2 is to use my George foreman to grill my allotment of chicken/shrimp for lunch for the week on Sunday.

I'm planning on following a paleo-esque diet approach in maintenance. Mainly to cut out the grain, I love dairy too much to pull that out. I intend to watch my carb intake in maintenance. I know my body doesn't process them easily.

I'm really not a breakfast person either which is why the shakes are so good for me. Someone else suggested that I do a smoothie for my P3 breakfast and if I could find a way to make it taste like a cappuccino I would be set.

You are going to be fine. I feel like I can relate to you with the body image issues and the weight coming back and everything else. I am experiencing a lot of the same dilemmas as you have brought up on this board and I'm here for ya!!
