Tripping Out Thursday, 8/21
Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is waking up to some sunshine and good weather. This morning I go for the results of my sleep study. I'm intensely interested to find out what the results were but also a little scared b/c apparently the measure so much they can find out problems beyond sleep apnea.
As always, I feel like things slow down but gear up as we head towards labor day. My son is away next week and I'm determined to tie up all loose ends before he gets back. This means: finishing an altar guild manual for church; making a dr. appt., finishing my countertop. Yesterday I put the first coat of the concrete on and it looks terrible, but I know from watching about 1000 tutorials on line that this is to be expected. Also, with concrete, you are actually going for an industrial look, so imperfections are ok .
Hope everyone has a great day! Maybe I might weigh in tomorrow...we'lll see how I feel.

MMCK, I'd love to see that countertop when it's done! Hopefully you will love it . Sounds like a busy week for you.
For me, just my last day of work this week. We're taking off for NC tomorrow for DH's niece's wedding, and I fly back Sunday to work next week. DH finally decided he'll stay there a couple of days, then to a cabin, then to the family gathering in the western VA mountains and a HUGE flea market. That means...I will be without DH and children next week! Wow, what an odd concept.
That leads me to I think I'll do a strict phase I next week. My weight has slowly crept back on, and I'm starting to feel uncomfortable in my own skin again. Should be a lot easier without them around having goodies. I'll try to think of my menu on my flight, then prepare Sunday night.
Hmmm...who's tripping out today?

Good morning, Ms. M. and thanks for starting us up. That countertop sounds interesting and so does getting the results of your sleep study.
I am feeling draggy this morning and may have to caffeine up quickly. Yesterday was an incredibly stressful day - I'll spare you the details - and today probably won't be much better. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon - the blood pressure reading will be interesting! I will also get heck for not getting my bloodwork done more often.
Made the rum cake for a Saturday BBQ late yesterday and just took it out of the oven when the power went out! We had a huge T-storm with buckets of rain which certainly is not needed. Lake Sheridan has re-appeared in the dog yard. The power stayed off until sometime during the night. This morning I'll make the glaze for the cake and pop it into the freezer until the weekend.
Before the rain arrived yesterday, I strolled out to the garden and discovered my two pepper plants almost flat to the ground from the weight of their green pepper crop! Each plant has about nine huge green peppers. I guess I ignored them in my grief over the ruined tomato plants and my amazement over the kale forest. (I shredded and froze some of the kale and will make Portuguese caldo verde in winter.)
My reminder just popped up to say it's trash day so I'll lug my contribution out to the road and then get on with my day.
Have a great Tripping Out Thursday - good tripping, I mean, of course.
Hi there, Tammy! A week of just you sounds great!

Good morning everyone!
Matilda, I'm eager to find out how your countertops turn out. I've seen cement countertops done on TV and am surprised how nice the finished product looks. Good luck on yours! And good luck on your sleep study results, too.
Tammy, wow, a whole week to yourself! I hope you have time for some pampering in between working.
Ruth, I hope today is a stress-free day for you! I'm glad your peppers are doing so well. My pepper plants are really loaded this year, too, and I'm making tons of stuffed peppers to freeze for some easy meals.
My DIL challenged me to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge last night, and BRRRRRR, was that water ever cold! It was fun, though, and all for a great cause. This morning is on a more somber note, though, as we're getting ready to go to the funeral for my SIL's mother. Afterwards, I have to run over to the farm to take care of the dogs, but then my weekend starts!

Tywnn that sounds like you have a plan for next week
Cottage DD1 is doing the ALS Ice bucket challenge today so it has reached our house.
I somehow have bug bites on both my wrists and ankles, I wasn't outside yesterday so can't figure it out unless it was my walk on Tuesday evening and they are now just making themselves noticed
Last day of class of today I am learning a lot about our system hopefully today will learn how to do my area of responsibility.
Have a great day everyone!

Morning ladies!
Ruth, we had great weather yesterday until just after dinner when the skies really opened up. DH was able to mow and I got some clean-up done in the garden.
Cottage, DS2 did the ice bucket challenge also. Great idea but I find it interesting how viral this has become.
Tammy, I used to dream of a week alone but I think I would miss everyone long before it was over. Enjoy yourself.
Matilda, I am going to have to do some research on those countertops.
Pearl, I have gone to so many useless trainings that I really enjoy going to one that is actually useful!!
Today looks to be our rainy day so I will do inside chores.
Have a good day, chicks!

Whew! Just got a big hunk of my life back. The bus tour and lunch on Saturday are cancelled due to lack of interest. I'm sure I'll find something to fill the time.

Hi Guys,
Report from the sleep doctor is that I have mild apnea, but nothing that requires treatment other than losing weight and firming up my core to help my diaphragm from getting floppy at night. Ha Ha Ha.
There are many blog posts about the countertops, if you are interested google "Ardex feather finish diy countertops." I know I can't post links here, but this search should lead you to a couple of the better blog posts on the subject. Of course I'll take tons of pictures and report back when done.

Go ahead and post links, Miss M. The no links rule is for newbies. I'm pretty sure you won't be posting links to porn sites!

WOW I actually snuck in before bed. Today is 2 days of P1....yet again lol...This is my long week at work. So at least I am prepared food wise. Already notice some water weight gone from my legs. It seems if I add carbs, not the healthy kind, I retain excessive amounts of water. I do find SB really helps me get back on track after my moments of weakness.
Uh oh the dogs want to go out and it is pouring!!! Hope everyone is having a dry night
