I have been on my super veggie charged eating plan for about three days now and I have a painful problem. I have the most painful atrocious gas in five counties! I cannot go back but I am in pain! Any tips for living with this or alleviating somehow?
Oh no! I can't help but laugh though hehe A terrible problem to have for sure especially when it is painful For immediate relief, take Gas-X! Works for me. But your body should get used to it if you continue eating in this way, so I think long term everything should settle down
Would love to know if anyone else has other suggestions.
Yeah, I think they say about a week or two for it to feel normal. My mom had a similar issue recently when she started using a Nutribullet, but felt better after 3-4 days so hopefully you're in the home stretch!
I have really bad gas and it has never gone away. I live with it and consider it quite healthy (although others around me would disagree). Movement really helps to shift it. Walking and especially running.
My ex boy friend had really bad gas. He just farted all the time and that was that. He ate healthy it was just something that he did.
I've taken Beano before... was helpful.
As for the pain, don't hold them in. XD I know... embarrassing in some situations, but it is never a good idea. Walking helps, and if the pain is really bad, consider seeing a doctor.

I have always heard to up your fiber gradually to avoid gas problems. When I first started eating high fiber I started out slowly, but still got gas. The pain is scary because I have had 2 bowels surgeries in the past. My body adjusted over time and I have recently increased my fiber to a higher level and am going though another adjustment period. You could cut back a little, but if that's not an option, it should improve in time, a couple weeks.
Oh goodness, if it's the same thing I had a few months back, I feel your pain! What happened to me was that I started taking Greens+, a green powder that you took as a supplement. I went a little overboard and started to bloat and have serious discomfort related to gas.
The story ends with me in my bed 3 days later freaking out because I couldn't "go" at all. I called a nurse and she finally told me that broccoli, known for doing that, probably was the cause of it (it's the first ingredient in the powder, from what I remember).
She recommended hot water, water in general and pears. It passed but it was really uncomfortable and annoying.
What wannabehealthy said is true, fibre helps digestion but really goes against you if you go overboard. Try pears and hot water, it worked for me, and then gradually increase your fibre intake (avoid broccoli for a while!!).
When you shift from one "menu" to another, the gut flora needs to change as well. Starting a vegetable or fibre rich diet necessetates the growth of a new kind of benificial gut flora. Once this is grown in the fermentation vat experience should go back to normal.
If you increase your fiber intake too quickly it will cause excessive stomach gas that leads to pain. I found this out first hand!! The best thing to do its gradually increase the amount you take on.
