Its funny that despite this being a forum about food, eating better and less of it, there's not much talk about food. So i want to start breakfast lunch and dinner threads where we share what we eat and discuss our ideas about it if inclined. Im just having breakfast now. The others will come later but i don't mind if someone else wants to get the lunch and dinner ones going first if you are at that point already.
Prompted initially by the need to get more protein in my diet, i've started varying my breakfast all the time and i'm really enjoying it. I know that people going to work often don't have time to think about doing that but for those of us at home, Its a way to keep all our food more interesting when adapting to a new diet regime.
Today i'm having 1 slice of top quality whole grain toast with butter, 1 large banana and about 40grams of home made ricotta crumbled on top of that. And coffee with milk of course. Its so yummy.
I"ve recently started buying this new brand of bread called Lawsons (Australian) its so much nicer than the other one I was eating which i thought was pretty good (Helgas). The slices are bigger and now my weight is down so i only have one slice whereas earlier on i would definitely have had two or something else with it.
Most excellent idea for a thread! I'm always curious what others consider "healthy" and what foods work for them when dieting.
I recently discovered this recipe for Cauliflower Hot Pockets. The recipe creator just took the very popular idea of cauliflower crust pizza and made it into a Hot Pocket. Genius!
Last night I made a batch of dough and made half into a breakfast pocket (filled with eggs, spinach, and swiss) that I reheated this morning for breakfast. With that I had cottage cheese with blueberry coulis (blueberries cooked down into a sauce then chilled). And two cups of coffee with almond milk.
So yummy and kept my tummy very happy until lunch.
I made some totally retro Pea Salad - peas, cheddar, and bacon in a dressing of mayo and sour cream. I ate that with a couple hard-cooked eggs. Plus some strawberries. And one cup of coffee with almond milk.
