LOL. Laughing with you, not at you. The first week can be rough, like kontesanera said , drink herbal tea & go to bed early. You can also eat lettuce and drink water. OH and have a dill pickle

All of the above plus in the first week you can add an extra unrestricted packet if you really need it.

Hang in there - it gets better!

I vote for tea or even fat free broth with some of your veggies... Save out 1/2 cup and have it when you are hungriest. Something warm fills and seems more like a comfort. Also the extra unrestricted if you really need it for a few days.

Once you get through a few more days and ketosis firmly sets in you won't feel very hungry!

You CAN do it!

you can also have egg whites and it helped me to eat something every two hours. Split up your lunch protein and veg and have a 10 am snack. Hang in there, it will get better very soon!

WOW! Thank you all so much! I am a coffee feind but I really should try getting into more tea. Does that count towards my daily water intake? (the tea?) And are egg whites considered protein (as in my 8 oz. protein for dinner?)
This was all so incredibly helpful!

A lot of the hunger is our heads telling us to eat, not our stomachs. Especially folks who are used to grabbing a snack any time they want. Learning a new way isn't easy so start a new project to keep y our mind off eating and DEFINITELY go to bed early,

Don't forget that extra packet the first week. It is there to use. You won't need it forever and if you choose one of the 80 calorie ones, they the lowest carb ones, as well

The p1 protocol used to allow for any 0 carb/0 sugar/0 fat items.
A couple egg whites fall into that category.
So does the broth.
You count the pickles as veggies.
You can have lettuce with every meal.. I sort've eat romaine leaves like "chips"
Herbal tea counts as water.

It gets better!

I understand how you feel. I went through the same feeling during the first week on the program. Sipping herbal tea, snacking on cucumber, celery and lettuce (with a Little Walden Farms dressing for a dip), finding distractions like reading and a short walk in the fresh air with my dogs.
The first two weeks on the program were hard for me but camomile tea and determination got me through. Week three became easier and now I rarely experience those same hunger bangs.
You can do it! Hang in there and push through - the rewards will be worth it. I am down 13 pounds in four weeks which is a great success for me. About one fifth the way to the finish line!
Rooting for you!!!
