Default TOM question

If you gain water weight while on your period but still continue to exercise and eat healthy, will your weight go to where it was before TOM or can you not lose weight TOM is here?

Usually it all goes back down. A lot of women who weigh daily notice a trend in their weight related to their menstrual cycle, but the general trend (if they are taking in less calories and moving more!) is down. If you're concerned about it, I would try tracking daily and looking for trends.

The only issue I'd foresee where you don't have a net loss after the water weight goes away, is if you tend to binge eat or eat unhealthily during your period.

Well my TOM has decided to go AWOL for the last two months...sigh. But generally speaking when I have it I go up a bit, water/bloat weight. Afterwards though I usually get a nice WOOSH that makes me feel quite a bit better about things!

Forgive me, what is TOM?
I know it's something to do with your period, but what does it stand for exactly??

Yogini99, TOM stands for time of the month.

RubyRed93 most women retain water before/during their period. If you keep eating well and exercising, though, you'll keep losing.

I don't know about you guys, but weighing daily just seems too annoying. The daily fluctuations tick me off- sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to them!!!
Anyone else feel this way? How much can i expect to gain after a hard workout (which left my muscles really sore)?

Yeah, it bothers me too which is why I don't do it lol I weigh once a week or when I *feel* that I am lighter (it is amazing how accurate instinct can be!)

Thanks everyone. I'm still going to the gym and eating healthy (for the most part). I just wanted to know if the weight loss would show up. Will next week be woosh week?

Yogini I could never weigh myself once a week. There are days when I run to the scale every time I go to the bathroom. The flunctuations don't get to me, so I don't think it's a problem.

With me I've noticed that I'll start bloating a day or two beforehand and once TOM comes my weight will shoot up about 2 lbs. But it goes back down to what it was or, if I'm careful and don't eat every piece of junk food in the house during those few days, I'll weigh less than I did before TOM.
