Default Cutting the last tie to my overweight life

I've been maintaining for nearly two years. I just now cut the last physical string that held me to my former overweight life. I finally had my wedding rings resized. I've been wearing them daily with a ring snuggie contraption all this time. I couldn't seem to bring myself to commit to making them smaller. Almost as if it made my weight loss permanent and I worried about accepting that permanence. I guess I also worried that if I regained the weight, my beautiful rings would no longer fit. But it's time to accept this permanence and continue to work toward keeping it, as I have for the last 2 years.

I just got my new, smaller rings back and boy what a treat it is to have them fitting properly again. I had them sized from an 8 to a 6. They looked so tiny when I picked them up from the jeweler. Just another step in this journey I guess.

Anyone else hold onto a link to their past lifestyle?

Good for you! I was holding on to my fat picture until I got rid of it last fall. I don't need a reminder of the obese miserable person I was at all.

Brilliant! That's such great decision.

I understand your trepidation. Most people most of the time do bounce back to former weight so your skepticism is quite normal.

But you have earned your new skinny self and rings that fit. You can always get them resized again if needs be.

Loved reading this post, thanks for sharing!

I haven't resized my rings yet but they have a whole lotta room in with my ringguard. I'm hoping to get pregnant soon and want to be able to wear my rings for 9 months as I will be close to 40 when/if I have the baby (just something I have thought about).

I finally, after a year and half, given away all my 2x and 3x clothes. It was extremely emotional and I went through the clothes one last time again before bagging them up. I even tried on clothes that I thought looked "good" when I was so much bigger and it was humbling to see how far I have come. Even if I gained back (gulp) 50lbs, they'd still be too big.

My next goal will be to get rid of the 1x/0x plus-size clothes. I'm not ready for that...yet.

Thank you for your kind replies. I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one hesitant to give up a piece of the past. I've actually been good about clearing out my wardrobe, oddly it was just the wedding rings I was stalling on.
