Question How do you personally reward yourself for a job well done?

Everyone,
I'm currently weaning my 1 year old so I have yet to be able to start IP however; I am planning and doing my research between now and then.

I'm currently on the look out for ideas for a reward system that doesn't involve food. In the past I would get together with friends in good times, bad times, etc. and food has always been involved. I want to stear clear of the same old same old and would love to hear from you on how you reward yourself while still meeting your weight loss goals and overall continuing your plan without cheating.

I know that the weight loss in itself is a reward however; there are times that it's nice to look forward to a little something more.

Please share if you would, thank you in advance.

DeAnne

I've rewarded myself with mani/pedis or buying smaller clothes! My biggest splurge was a skin detox wrap at a local spa! Things that will better myself!

Ems70508- love the new picture!

After 20 pds. I rewarded myself with a silver bangle with a quote on it, about being strong and brave. At 50, new chairs for the living room.

Thanks Slipfree! I like your bangle idea! Yep, my first reward was a bookcase! Oh and I completely forgot..I have a shadow box with a picture of a yellow polka dot bikini that I drop a dollar in for every pound lost!

I don't do IP.

Just watching the scale drop was a big motivation for me.

I also drank beer. That was a nice reward after a hard day dieting.

Clothes. That was a big ticket item as I bought new wardrobes all the way down. Most people don't but it really motivated me.

And I now use the mirror.

For each 10 pounds, I will reward myself with something for myself. Mani/pedi, massage, small piece of jewelry, etc. When I've lost 50, I plan on booking a tropical vacation for my husband and I for a few months out. My goal is 60 pounds, so I'm planning on hitting that before we actually go. My husband travels a lot for work, so we have lots of miles to use to travel, but we haven't done anything for just the 2 of us in a while. Looking forward to new clothes along the way, but especially when I'm buying a new bathing suit and shorts to wear on the trip.

I think it's good to set little goals for yourself along the way. 10 pounds seemed right for me. And I do not want to reward with food (obviously) so I think it's okay to pamper myself along the way. That doesn't happen very often for me, with 4 kids and a husband that travels all week long.

Right now, I reward myself, as much as I can, by going shopping at the consignment stores for smaller sizes. Unfortunately, the budget is very tight due to the diet. I am hoping that this spring/summer I can take a trip to reward myself. Depending on timing, not sure if all the weight will be gone, but it will be close.

I've done the mani/pedis, a new book (i'm a reader and theres always a new one I'd like to read), new pair of heels, the NYE dress, etc.

My next goal is hopefully going to be reached by the end of the week and then I'm scheduling a massage. 50 lbs hopefully gone and this mama needs 90 mins to herself!

Hi DeAnne,

What I do to reward myself is to tell my loved ones about it. I feel like the extra support, through shared happiness makes that lost weight that much more sweet. Also I love to see my mom so proud of me.

During the times when they aren't up to that sort of information, I often times look at clothes and think of buying some. I don't even have to buy the clothes, it's just the feeling of, "Huh, now my [insert body part I am self conscious of] might look good in that," is good enough.

Oh definitely clothing. At first I picked some dresses that I was interested in but did not want to buy yet. Every couple of weeks I would go in and try them on. I started in the XL and ended up buying one of them in a small. It was fun seeing the change without spending money until I was at a size that will fit for awhile.
