Brazilian blowout
Anyone had one? How did it go? How long did it last? Was it worth it?

Never had one, but not worth it in my opinion. Too many chemicals.

It's a hair treatment that is supposed to involve many chemicals - one of them is formaldehyde! Health Canada has banned it. Google it.

Omg! LOL ! I have a few friends who do elaborate treatments, but they are all natural and involve karite butter.

It is something that helps straighten your hair for those that have curly/frizzy/etc hair. I don't know the difference between it and relaxers that those of african descent sometimes use in the US. I've had a few family members straighten their hair but I don't think they did what is called the "Brazilian Blowout".

The same way we brazilians don't call our nut by the name "brazilian nut" we probably don't have an specific name for this hair treatment and if we do, it probably doesn't have the word "brazilian" in it. Straightening hair is fairly common. I have curly hair myself, but i loooove my curls. Formaldehyde is prohibited here too but some obscure products for straightening hair still have it even though it is not listed as an ingredient on the labels of those products. I'm apalled by the idea that it is called "brazilian blowout" because it is something people don't aprove of here as it causes cancer and other problems.

I don't think it would be expected to call a brazillian blow out in brazil it is more that someone saw the technique in brazil, made it their own and brought it to the US.

hi there,
I had one done about 4 months ago worked like a charm. the upkeep shampoos and condtioners are very expensive but well worth the hassel free styling and no more breaking my hair when i am trying to brush it. the effective period is 6 months but some people here have gone 8 - 10 months. your curl does come back as your hair grows but seems much less. i must say it is very smelly when the do it though, have to have very good ventilation

Not only is it horrible carcinogenic chemicals, but it's basically hair suicide. Ask Jennifer Aniston who had to chop her hair off after a BBO. Or just google and read all the stories about how it dries out and fries the hair.
If you aren't happy with your hair I recommend joining "The long hair community" forum and learning real, right for your type, haircare. You'll be much happier with your hair in the long run!

Thanks for the explanation, i was trying to figure just what it was exactly! And escova progressiva is actually something a lot of people do! Is it that bad? Are all escovas progressivas carcinogenic? My best friend does chocolate escova progressiva and it's quite a hit where i live!
And it sure feels nice finding another brazuca!
