I am so emotional! NSV and just word stuffs.
Today, I ran my first 5k. Today, I ran my first of many 5ks. I am so unbelievably proud of my accomplishments at this point in my journey. I remember being 350lbs, sitting at my desk watching a motivational running video and saying to myself, "Yes, that'll be me." Now, it is me.
I'm a runner, because I run. Sure, my time on the 5k wasn't the best It was 47:30. We also had obstacles like zombies, and to do jumping jacks and burpees at the water stations. My first mile was good, second mile was rough, but I picked it back up half-way through and finished strong. I finished strong, and I finished the race. I never could've even walked 3 miles in under 60 before. My friends finished behind me, and they are smaller and were athletes in high school. One friend finished at 54, and another at 60. It blows my mind to know I outbeasted them. I wasn't the last runner, and even if I was, I would've been REALLY FREAKING PROUD to know I finished what I started.
My Mom and Dad were on the phone after the race and were just so proud of me too. My Dad even said if two years ago, I said I was gonna run he would've called me a liar and laughed. They really wished they were at the finish line for me, and I really wish they were too but I started this whole weightloss journey in a sense alone and I finished strong alone (as I had left my friends in the dust, haha).
So as I sit here trying to type through my happy tears, I just want to thank you guys for all your love and support through all of this. All 143 lbs I've lost with you guys. I thought about you guys and your 5ks, and I thought about you guys doing the dancing carrot too as strange as that is.
Okay, end rambling. I had to get it out.

Congratulations! You totally deserve to be on
The race sounds like a lot of fun and burpees? I wouldn't be able to do that and run.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your victory with us! I was also 350 lbs once upon a time. I have it in my mind that I could never run. But, maybe I can. I walked a 5K last year (jogged a little bit) and finished just at an hour -- totally forgot to look at the stop clock! I haven't tried it again, but perhaps I should. I've heard several people say that running stepped up their weight loss. I really want to get to ONEDERLAND this year.
You've inspired me to run. I'm just going to do it. Ready, set, go!

So awesome! I don't know you but I just have a huge smile on my face after reading this. I felt the same way when I finished my first 5k. I love what running has done for me and my life and it always makes me happy to see it happening to someone else!
Keep it up! You're doing awesome.
