My doctor and I went by a body fat %. My last DEXA scan threw my lean body mass at a really high ratio of nearly 71% and my body fat at a relatively low ratio of 29% despite how much I weigh (my fat ratio for my weight should be closer to 40-45%, but apparently I have what is considered a mesomorph body type). That means I only have roughly 65 pounds of fat on my body and close to 159 pound of lean body mass. And....that alone puts me over the "normal" BMI. Given that women need to maintain no less than 10% body fat and that I really don't want to lose muscle mass (since that can attack my heart), I need to ideally be no lower than 174...but I am tweaking that a tad and aiming for 170.
Sigh. Blasted muscles. I so want a normal BMI...but I guess I will settle for healthy. At least I appear to weigh less than I really do.
