My fluid intake changed from 30 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after eating to 15 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after eating. There has been a few times during the time I eat that I want to take a drink cause I am so used to doing that before surgery. I don't bring a drink to the table to help discourage me from drinking while I eat since the surgery.
How does everyone else deal with not drinking fluids while eating?
how do i deal with it???? not happily. even after all these years. occasionally, i'll rinse my mouth right after eating. But to tell the truth, drinking is just too difficult while eating to do it.
I think it has gotten easier over time, although a spicy or dry meal reminds me of how hard it can be. I don't limit liquids, though, prior to eating. I drink right up until I eat. My goal is to wait sixty minutes after eating to drink, but sometimes it is only 30.
I do drink sometimes while eating, obviously I can't eat much then. But if I eat normal, am full, then can not drink for some time. I think if you listen to your stomac it will tell you when you can or can not drink...it's all about not getting it too full.
At first it was tough, but I taught myself to take just the tiniest sips with meals. Just enough to wet my tongue. It took a while to adjust, but after a few weeks, it became a habit.
