Default Lost weight on vacation!

I know this might seem stupid and small, but I'm thrilled all the same and wanted to share this little victory. I was away on vacation for the past couple of weeks and fully expected to gain some weight, but when I weighed myself today I actually lost half a pound!

I ate what felt like a ton of goodies (cake, ice cream, pastries), but I can't actually recall ever finishing a meal and spent most of my days walking all over cities and hiking in the Alps. I wasn't thinking much about food or weight loss, to be honest, I was just re-fueling myself when necessary to continue having fun. It was such a nice surprise this morning.

Oh wow! That's amazing!

You've given me so much hope ... I have some long trips coming up and I am so worried about eating the wrong foods and getting out of the diet mindset.

I guess if you get out and walk a bit everyday when your on holiday then the devilish treats won't be so detrimental to the diet! Congrats that's awesome

Thanks, everyone! It feels like such a fluke, but I think going from sedentary days sitting in an office to walking 10 hours a day helped burn some serious calories. Seriously, can I quit my job and become a professional walking world traveler?

tefrey, I will be rooting for you on your trips!

konablue, I just hope to be able to get there at home too. It's hard to be bored and snacky while pounding the pavement in Vienna or hiking through Switzerland, but at home and the office? Oof.

Wonderful!!! I have a 10 day trip to Belize coming up and hoping their healthy foods and our activities will keep me on track.

That's awesome! The same thing happened to me during a 10-day trip to England (London and Winchester). I ordered and ate whatever I wanted but had to walk pretty much everywhere every day. I came home several pounds lighter and was thrilled. Congrats!
