Talking Carb Countdown Dairy Beverage

I found this milk substitute at my local Wal-Mart Super Center. I've only tried the fat free version. It's not bad. It's not as good as skim milk but it's pretty good. Check out the numbers at http://www.hphood.com/products/produ...ail.asp?id=477

Here is a little info on it:
Hood introduces Carb Countdown™, the dairy solution for those counting their carbs™. Carb Countdown is the only Atkins approved refrigerated dairy beverage that provides the wholesome, creamy nutrition of milk without all the carbohydrates. In fact, each 8-ounce serving contains 3 grams of carbohydrate — that’s 75% less carbs than whole milk, and 90% less carbs than chocolate milk. And each 8-ounce serving of Carb Countdown has up to 50% more protein than a glass of milk, with more calcium and fewer calories. The Carb Countdown line includes Homogenized, 2% Reduced Fat and Fat Free white varieties, and 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate. Carb Countdown initially launched in the refrigerated dairy section at select Wal-Mart Supercenters throughout the United States, and will be rolled out to other retailers in the near future.

The full fat, reduced fat, and fat free versions are all Atkins approved and have 3 net carbs per 1 cup serving. I didn't see the reduced fat chocolate version but will search it out. The biggest thing that I've missed on Atkins is the skim milk. It was $2.50 per half gallon. With substitutions like this I might be able to stick with Atkins.

The 2% reduced fat chocolate is even better than the fat free white one. The consistency is very creamy and smooth. It is yummy. Still only 3 net carbs.

I haven't tried this, but I'd also recommend Soy Slender. It's sugar free soy milk, and has only 1 gram per 8 ounces. Comes in chocolate, vanilla, and cappaccino.

Fullfig, I had a cup for you this morning. Is the soy drink that I had at your house the Soy Slender?

supersized, i don't remember the brand of what we had at my house. i miss skim milk terribly too. i could easily swig a quart right now. glad you can enjoy it. our commissary only has access to products that are accessible in europe. i've heard that the atkins products are headed this way. hopefully we'll have more choices soon.
