What Type of Weight Loss Person Are You? (Poll)
I’ve been on 3FC for just over 2 years and I’ve seen lots of people come and go. In my time here I think I've become quite familiar with the types of people who are trying to lose weight. So I figured, just for fun, if you could identify with any of the categories of people I have observed over the years. Which one are you?
These categories are not meant to offend or demean anyone. These are all problems that everyone can face, the idea of the poll is for people to see that you are not alone! Accepting your flaws and recognising them is a key step in the process of improving yourself to become the person you want to be.
The Number Slave- You count calories of every single thing that enters your mouth
- You weigh yourself once, possible more, each day.
The cons: Because of the obsessive behaviour with numbers and facts you tend to find yourself freaking the eff out if your scale doesn’t want to play nice with you.
The Dieter- You need someone to tell you exactly what you should eat every day. You tend to jump from one diet plan to the next in the hope that you will lose weight fast.
The cons: Diets will help you lose weight fast, but your fitness can suffer from restrictive eating causing a major stall or a complete crash. Dieter’s tend to yo-yo a lot.
The Tank- You are an exercise MACHINE. You will exercise almost every single day and generally become a slave to the burn.
The cons: Generally tanks shape up and lose weight fast, but an uninformed Tanker in the art of nutrition can crash and burn and not see results on the scale.
The Treater - You generally are awesome at losing weight…for a short period of time. After a string of successes you tend to relax on your exercise routine and throw all meal plans out the window. You literally treat yourself to good job well done.
The cons: While you may be a pro at losing weight, your attention span is short and your treats can set you back.
The Pit Stop Dweller:- You will lose weight, then something will happen that throws you off course. While taking a break in the pit stop you find yourself stuck – unable to get back into the race. Dwellers tend to stall for long periods of time (not to be confused with The Regainer)
The cons: While you might not be losing weight and maintaining, pit stop dwellers can suffer emotionally and feel stuck. They tend to take a long time getting back into a routine, they need an extra push from helpers to get them out of the pit and back into the game.
The Drastic Regainer:- Will lose weight successfully and enjoy a happy life at their goal weight then will regain it all back within a short period of madness.
The cons: Similar to the Pit Stop Dweller, Drastic Regainers suffer emotionally as they are unable to comprehend why they gained all their weight back.

As for me, I'm a mixture of The Treater and the Pit Stop Dweller. Usually they follow one another in succession, I'll do well, treat myself, then dwell in maintenance for a LONG time. Currently coming up to a year of not losing weight.

I'm definitely a combo of treater and pit stop dweller...Maintaining and fluctuating right now and trying so hard to get myself back on track, but it feels impossible! haha...

Pit stopper... As seen by the fact that I have been teetering at 188-189.5 for the past, oh, I don't know, FOUR MONTHS.
Nah really, it's cool. I'm "maintaining."
ETA: My goal is to totally be more like the tank. I have the potential, because I love exercise, but it's just so hard for me to find a routine again.

I'm totally a Number Slave trying to become a Tank.
These categories seem pretty spot on. So much for being a unique snowflake

I like this though I don't know if any feel like me. Perhaps a combo of Number Slave/Tank??? But I don't weigh everyday and I don't really worry when the scale doesn't cooperate. And though I exercise a fair bit, I don't worry when I miss and I definitely focus on nutrition first and foremost for weight loss.

For me it's kind of like this, Treater, Pit Stop and Drastic Regainer in a very close succession:
Treater - after I reach a certain weight, I might think that I'm done or that I deserve a treat -> which takes me to a Pit Stop, not being able to stop treating myself, cause..y'know, as long as I'm maintaining it's all good -> which takes me to lose control, overeat at slide into a Drastic Regain.
Ha, never realized it until know. You were spot on!

I think I'm probably closest to The Pit Stop Dweller. I will do well with counting my calories and doing a good amount of exercise for a few weeks, then I maintain for a few weeks.

I think I've been all of these, except the dieter, at some point. Right now I'm recovering from being the drastic regainer. I was a dweller for the better part of a year before becoming the regainer. I'm working my way back to being the number slave... it got me down 70 lbs before.

Completely obsessive compulsive.
