Default Help! I only snore on weeknights, NOT weekends?!

So my husband is at his wit's end with my horrible snoring that has started in the past 6 months. And it's ONLY on work nights, Sun-Thursday nights. I eat very healthy on those nights and have zero alcohol. Then Friday and Saturday night come and we have some wine and cheat foods if we'd like. And I DON'T SNORE! You would think alcohol and gluten and sugar etc would make me snore, and the veggies and lean proteins would make me stop!

Last night I had a really really healthy dinner of cucumbers and a watermelon/mint smoothie. It was very light. And he said last night I was the WORST EVER. He's so tired today... and I feel so bad Just wondering if anyone has heard of only snoring on certain nights (like clockwork). Maybe I don't want to go to work the next day so I sleep lighter because I'm stressed?

Maybe the alcohol relaxes your muscles enough that you don't snore? I have no idea. That's odd. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out what it is so both of you can sleep!

I think its more likely that your HUSBAND is sleeping more deeply the nights you both drink and go into food/sugar comas He just isnt aware of the snoring then becasue he is also out cold....... *generally* speaking, the heavier sleep from the alcohol, and depressive effect on the body often makes snoring worse. I bet youre still snoring those nights, he just doesnt hear it!

Thanks- he actually just mentioned that to me. He has a few beers with dinner on the weekends and he thinks he might be sleeping more deeply from them, so doesn't notice my snoring on those nights.

He noticed my snoring got worse with our new house that has central AC. Everything is drier than window units (yay!) but I wake up with a sore throat now. Guess I have to get used to things. I'm also hoping that as I lose weight it'll get better, but I've never been a snorer even at my top weight.

If I may make a suggestion. Please see your Dr. about the snoring,it could very easily be sleep apnea and needs to addressed.

Snoring is not just a matter of weight. I've been the same weight for years, but only started snoring quite recently. Gravity effects everything, including tissues of the throat. Plenty of people who have always been normal weight start snoring as they age.

Not all snoring is sleep apnea. A sleep study is a hassle but it would eliminate that and the sleep specialists might have suggestions ... although honestly, if you don't have apnea I'd try anything on this planet before a CPAP machine, my husband just can't get the hang of it (his non compliance has been the cause of numerous fights between us, in fact). If you do wind up needing a CPAP you MUST get a CPAP pillow (darned specialists won't tell you that but trust me, that lousy $60 pillow can make all the difference).

You could try one of those over the counter mouth guards ... or introduce your husband to these (I've been sleeping with them for nearly 20 years, actually can't sleep without them):
