Smile Excercise!

Yesterday I texted my husband "Hey, we both don't have work until 1pm, tomorrow, and 3 days next week. I would like to go to the free gym at our apartment clubhouse starting tomorrow." and what did my husband say?

"Sure!"

So, I woke up really early because I am excited to try this out. He is still asleep (but not for long, hahaha). We are definitely going to start today. I am excited. Now afterward, I might not be so happy.

How do you get through it? How do you push yourself?

WooHoo!!

I mainly walk and jog, anywhere from 8 to 15 miles a day (The upper end being my extra push days that I do a couple times per week.) and weight train on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I break my miles up throughout the day. I find it more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge. I have a battle with inner speech off and on throughout the day. It helps to listen to upbeat music, or when I am walking or jogging inside (either in-place or around my house) enjoying the tv on, something that I do not have to watch but can listen to, like game shows. Having someone along helps also.

I always just tell myself "It's gonna go by fast..it's only X minutes out of the many hours I don't do anything else. It wont take that long!"

And it does go by fast. It also helps to just get ready even if you don't feel like going or doing anything. More times then not, since I'm all dressed for it I usually just go and get it over with~

You don't need to kill yourself at the gym to get good workout.

Build up over time.

Honestly, I don't really push myself. I just do what I need to do and work on incremental improvement. I plan on doing this for the next 10,950 days -- I really don't have the mental energy to push! Instead, I just do.

there are mornings where I "just do" and mornings where I "push myself" and some mornings where I just walk instead of even try to run....this week is TOM and very hard to get my morning workouts in...but I don't want to break my good streak of getting up early every morning this summer to work out (on work days , that is)....I always take a break on the weekends regardless....

Awesome!! Taking that first difficult step over the mental and physical hurdles is the hardest... it will be so much easier the next time. WTG!
