Smile 80 down 2/3rds to Goal w/no exercise :)

This is my first post. I have been reading on this site for one year. I love it and appreciate all the information on it. So thank you everyone for making it what it is! A great weight loss support tool!!!

Almost ten months ago and 80 pounds I found out I was morbidly obese. That is very disturbing to hear. Sure I knew I needed to lose weight, but dang I had on my blinders. I actually thought I looked pretty good. I was kidding myself. I believe it is called denial.

When I decided NO more to the obesity I knew it would be difficult because I am unable to exercise. I guess I could do arm weights, but I have not. I keep saying next week. Ha! So without exercising I have done a low carb diet and lost the weight. I like my lifestyle change. It works for me and I find that I can always find something to eat. I have gone off the plan several times, but I always get back on. I find that I feel terrible after eating carbs. I think my body has gotten used to being without them.

I know everyone is different and different things work for different people. I hope that my being able to lose weight without exercise will motivate someone. I just figured without exercise I would not be successful. But I have been. I am so glad I tried. And by the way, I do want to exercise but I have physical limitations.

Thanks again to everyone here who has helped motivate me!!

Congrats, 80 pounds is absolutely fantastic.

This is a good reminder to others that when trying to lose weight it's all about your diet!!

Wow, you're such an inspiration as I am also unable to exercise 90% of the time (although I should be able to do more as I lose weight off my legs)
I hope I can be as successful as you!

Congrats!

I am someone who has the time to exercise, so I do so. But when people ask me if that's the way I've been losing weight, I tell them no. It's the diet component that makes the difference. Last year I exercised a ton, ate the same as always, and gained about 10 lbs. This year I changed how I eat, mostly reducing carbs and quantity but not following anything specific, and I'm down for the year. I'm glad to be able to exercise because it helps with some other goals that I have, but when all is said and done, it's what I'm eating that's making the changes.

Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your huge weight loss! What a great accomplishment
I have a lot of physical limitations (arthritis, spinal cord injury, ect) and I always thought I couldn't lose weight without exercising a LOT. I'm so happy to say that I have been able to lose weight exercising 30 mins a couple of times a week. I have found that building up a little bit of muscle has helped me feel much better about my body.
Anyway, watching your diet really can lead to weight loss and you are the proof!

Congrats! I'm glad you're sharing because I had the silly thought of not being sucessful without exercising too. Seven months ago I decided to try without exercising and I've lost 50 pounds so far. In my case it's because I'm lazy

Thanks to you for motivating us
