Default NSV - Goal of early morning walk, 5 days in a row

Hello All,
I've struggled for years with developing a habit of regular exercise. Now I'm in the worst shape of my life and so I want to condition my body to be a bit stronger and less fatty.
So, I'll be taking a morning walk every morning. 5 days doesn't seem like much, but there were only two times in my life when I had an exercise habit, so doing 5 days, then increasing that would be a big deal for me.

I'll edit this post to show my progress.

6/10 - Afternoon walk with a friend - 3 miles
6/11- Afternoon walk - 2 miles
6/12- Hike with boyfriend - 3 miles
6/13-Morning walk - 2 miles
6/14 - walk on treadmill - 3 miles

Good luck -- you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. For years I used the excuse that I just didn't have time to exercise due to work constraints. Once I retired, I finally started exercising on a daily basis (after a slight four year delay! ). The difference it has made is amazing to me. I still don't like it, but the way I feel when I have to skip for several days makes me realize that this is something I'm doing purely for myself. Hope you can get that feeling as well. I'll look forward to your posts!

Many thanks for the encouragement! I might amend the 'early morning' part - any time of day is fine. But for tomorrow, I will try to walk first thing. I think it helps my mood.

That's great. I just started doing the same thing -- after 10 months of doing only diet and no exercise. Funny enough, it started while I was on vacation. I went down to the hotel fitness center and walked/jogged on the treadmill for 30 to 40 minutes each of the three mornings I was there. Then, when I got home, I did not want to lose the momentum that I had going, so I have done the same thing when I woke up the last two mornings.

For me, every day may be too much. My legs are sore from it and I am thinking about maybe cutting down to every other day (for now) to give my legs a chance to recuperate. But we'll see. I like the fact that the exercise has jump started my weight loss after being stagnant for about a month.

That's great to hear, Joe. I'm keeping the exercise itself pretty low key because I need to do something every day to make it a habit. That's fine for all the fat loss I want to do right now, but it's not effective for other purposes.
What strategies do you use to maintain momentum when you work out every other day?
